Background
Allison Grey was everything that a man could ask for: Smart, loving, attractive, and in a world gone mad-- she was quite sane. Yes, 'was' is the correct word; she is gone now. She was torn from Johnny's hands and his life, a hostage during a fight with a super hero. The villain, some new mutant trying exert dominance grabbed her as a human shield. The 'hero', Johnny will never forget his face, garbed in images of the flag, blonde hair and a bright white smile. The smile must have been because he knew there was nobody around to call him out on what he'd do next, his eyes lit up red as a blast of energy tore through Allison, rent her in two just to take down the mutant behind. The worst part of all? Super heroes don't answer for their actions, he just fly off and the next day the paper was praising him for 'only' allowing one person to tragically die as the mutant tried to escape... That was the day everything was taken from Johnny and he would never forget that hero's face.
Only a decade since super powers had emerged means that there is no legal system for them to be tried by, no law for them to answer to except each other. Working in research labs for the past five years trying to manipulate superpowers for practical use by civilians had given Johnny a idealistic respect for supers and what they can do, unfortunately it was destroyed with Allison. While Johnny was mourning his lose he was approached by a few men from what they simply called the "organization" (Johnny wasn't on the list of people who needed to know), They said it was a government group set up
to police the Supes when they get out of hand. To them it was like the government had hundreds of deadly explosives flying throughout the country unchecked that could go off at any time.
The organization offered Hope a job and a chance to get back at the supes that betray him and the rest of the people that they 'protect'. It was a job that Johnny took with great pleasure.
Appearance
Jonathan Hope looks like any other guy you'd see walking through Freedom city. When Allison died he started to stop taking care of himself. He has unkempt red hair and wears a somewhat worn suit to look more professional, but it is a poor attempt to say the least. He looks like the kind of man who is out to collect enough money for next rent check, not the kind of guy that beats up bad guys or saves the day. Were it suggested to anyone it would be met with "Honestly? That guy? He's too much of a wimp" and then a hearty laugh.
Personality
A genius that would never admit his own abilities. It is another flaw to tack on to the many that Johnny already has. Johnny finds his pleasure in few things now, whether it be beating a super down or at the bottom of a bottle, it is all the same because afterwards Johnny goes back to his normal life, ignored and unwanted.
The man's own insecurities and problems seems to be reflected in his Battle suit's flaws and errors. With a tendency to get riled up and aggressive in a fight, Johnny has learned to restrain himself by cracking jokes and telling himself that the fight is less serious than it is...much to his employer's chagrin.
Most simply, Johnny is a man who needs to be taught that life is worth living.
Complications
Responsibilities:
--Work: Johnny works for himself continuing his old research out of his home, a setup he made when he no longer wanted to deal with other people.
--S.T.A.R: The organization that Johnny works for now. They call him when they need him to do something. This is when Johnny dons the ATLAS Prototype.
Secret:
--Identity: Johnny has to keep a somewhat low profile, when he starts busting the supes, if they knew who he was they would just attack him out of the suit. There are only about a half dozen men who know who actually pilots the ATLAS prototype, all of them higher ups in S.T.A.R.
--Plan: Johnny enjoys the ATLAS prototype a lot, a little too much. When he is in the suit it is the only time he feels happy. Sometimes he makes a plan to steal the suit from the organization, he brushes it off because he doesn't have the facilities to hold it and use it by himself, so for now, that's only a pipe dream.
Enemies:
--If there are any Rogue Super beings it is Johnny's job to take them down, but the only one he truly considers an enemy, the man he hates with all of his heart, is the super that killed Allison. Would he ever come across that super, Johnny would attack on sight.

The A.T.L.A.S Prototype
The ATLAS or "Armored Tactical Liaison for Aggressive Supers" has been in the works for as long as super-powered individuals have been showing up. This new model is S.T.A.R.'s first working customizable prototype that after much rigorous testing, will be mass produced for regular people to serve as a policing unit for super powered beings.
Core Properties These are the basic traits of the suit; many are modified or augmented by the Prototype's different configurations (see below).
ATLAS Prototype Configurations
The Prototype--ever a work in progress--has the ability to be modified for whatever conditions are demanded. At present, it has a standard 'Alpha' configuration, a Stealth configuration for covert ops, a Battle configuration for war exercises, and a Riot configuration for non-lethal peacekeeping. Each one is color coded for a number of reasons, to help technicians identify and exchange the parts with greater ease, to aid in their designated purpose, and when used on a mass scale, use in squad operations. The colors are as follows: Alpha - Grey, Stealth - Black, Battle - Red, Riot - Blue
