(LOL. Damn you. I kept the Str bonus to intimidate since it's how you worked it in your game but... err.. ahh, anyway, I'll just remove it then.)

OOC: I don't know what was going on with intimidating before since I didn't read it, but it doesn't matter. And just as an aside, I use CHA as the modifier and you can't convince me otherwise. I know that some choose to use strength in some cases, but here it would not be valid as Mal is not a puny wizard boy. Just so you know in case it comes up again later list your charisma modifier ---------------------------------------- Malanuus steps up into sight of the demonic creature with an idea to draw it foward. If this wouldn't work, then what would. In his best impression of an elven maiden, the minotaur teases the combatant before him, bringing its sexual state of well being into question and all in all hoping to goad this demon into the fight of its life. He even includes a sly lashing of his tongue and his best come-hither stare for added effect. This just had to work. And work it does. Malanuus watches as the demon displays an unearthly agility which he had not thought possible for something with such a massive form. Nextxes rushes the minotaur, his clawed limbs not even seeming to touch the sands below. In a flash Xextxes stands before Malanuus, though just out of the reach of the minotaur's treasured axe. ----------------------------------- OOC: Althael, jumping will not get you to where you sought to be as in order to make a long jump you must do so in a straight line and you seemed to be throwing in some diagonals to get to Mal here and there. Also, you may only jump at your total movement so you wouldn't have been able to complete your jump until next round. I took some liberties and had you double move to get you to the place where you wanted to be, I hope that it was OK. And if you don't want to be there, let me know and I'll back you off a bit. Just try to be quick about it. ---------------------------------------------- (Malanuus readied action does not go off. You may continue to ready with your next action or do something different. ) (Initiative Malanuus 15, Nextxes 11) MAP _______________________ /-----------------------\ /-------------------------\ /------------(--)-----------\ /-------------(--)------------\ /-------------------------------\ /---------------------------------\ /-----------------------------------\ /-------------------------------------\ /----------[=]-------------[=]----------\ /-----------------------------------------\ |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |---(--)-----------[===]------------------| |---(--)-----------[===]------------(-)---| |------------------[===]------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |------------XX---------------------------| \--------MM--XX---------------------------/ \-------MM-[=]-------------[=]----------/ \-------------------------------------/ \-----------------------------------/ \---------------------------------/ \-------------------------------/ \-----------------------------/ \------------(-)------------/ \-------------------------/ \-----------------------/ \_____________________/

{OOC: Two options presented here based on Althael's need to draw back.}
Finally...the battle had come to Malanuus. He knew the taunting would work. It had always worked when he was a young bull at the academy...when the young cadets would wave a red blanket at him to get him aggrevated into a charge. Of course, he always got a good conk on the noggin for being so foolish...and so would this thing too, whatever it was.
Option A (Atheal stays where he's at)
Taking a small step, Malanuus lays into the horrid beast with fervor.
[5ft Step Southeast, to be even with pillar again]
Primary Attack = +12, 3d6+14+d6 Cold, X3 Nat 20
[Nex has Cold Resist 5, so I would only do Cold damage on a 6 (1 Point)]
Secondary Attack = +6, d6+8, X2 Nat. 20
Option B (Athael moves back, but still within 30 ft.)
Malanuus sprints forward, bringing his axe down upon the skull of the beast. Using his great reach to land a blow.
[Move to close within 10ft of Nex, NOT incurring the AoO for closing]
One Attack = +12, 3d6+14+d6 Cold, X3 Nat 20
[Nex has Cold Resist 5, so I would only do Cold damage on a 6 (1 Point)]
Option C (something not accounted for here)
Malanuus remains where he's at, taunting the demon-beast into coming closer.
[Usual 5ft step towards Nex. Ready action to attack for approach]
+12, 3d6+14+d6 Cold, X3 Nat 20
[Nex has Cold Resist 5, so I would only do Cold damage on a 6 (1 Point)]

(Kman, actually, jumping into a square that you threaten would provoque an attack of opportunity. I somehow fail to see how the jump isn't counted as a move since you go at the same speed in the air as the speed on ground. Or very close.. anyway. Either way, I won't move enough and jump to land in the other round. So, it'll be Option B. Using option A, you can kill me in this single round.)
Nextxes wouldn't let himself killed so easily. That axe could easily cut him in half. He will attack that creature with all he have and tear his weak body in pieces.
[Since Malanuus is already in reach (I hope), no need to move, full attack. Ac 21, Bite +12 1d8+9, 2 Claws +7 1d8+4]

In order to keep this going we'll just assume a few things -Nex used his double move to make two jumps (despite the fact that I'm not recognizing them as jumps because you must move in a straight line to jump) so he has landed as he has managed to not move over a distance of 60 ft. -Nex did not stay even fruther from Malanuus as he does not want to be charged by the minotaur (you don't know that Mal wouldn't have done so.) -Someone has to get hit at some point or there is really no battle and you guys can just run all over the place on your own, and doing it this way will benefit you Althael, as you won't have to move to approach Mal, so Nex gets all of his attacks off . Sound cool with all? ---------------------------------------- Ready for the fight, Malanuus licks his lips, hoping that this creature would not decide to run off again at the last moment. Well he refuses let that happen. With great pleasure, he raises his muscular arms and sends his axe crashing down on what he thinks to be one of the demon's many shoulders. Attk 12+ [dice=20] dmg 13+[dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] COLD[dice=6]=0 He looks at the demon, its veiny limb nearly severed from its body. Feeling no mercy, he brings his horned head down on the creature, though as is most often the case, his horns fail to find purchase in the flesh and guts of his enemy. ATTK 6+[dice=20] Nextxus screeches with a furious terror. He now knows the pain which this minotaur wields. Yes, bringing him down would be well worth the wait. Ignoring the burning ink colored blood as it spews forth from his body, Nextxes lashes out at the massive beast with a ferocious bite and when his teeth find flesh he is relentless as he gnashes and digs his sharp fangs in, tugging at and ripping apart Malanuus's hide as the warm and familliar taset of blood fills his mouth. Attk 12+ [dice=20] dmg 9+[dice=8] Malanuus does manage to pry himself free of the demon, but not before Nextxes reaches for the minotaur with his claws, raking one across the large barrel chest and ripping more flesh from bone to mark its passage. ATTKS +7[dice=20] +7[dice=20] DMG 4+[dice=8] The crowd is once again brought to life with the sight of bloody gore unfolding before them. Invigored by the fresh blood, Malanuus lets it rip. This is what he lived for...

(Damn, that's a good hit. 21 Damage.. ARG ! This battle's gonna be short.)
Nextxes, with the taste of blood in his mouth and the smell of his own putrid blood, let himself be submerged by the chaotic atmosphere that reign in his mind, releasing all of his fury again. It is not a pain in the shoulder that will stop him.
He roar again with all its demonic fury, attacking his opponent.

when power attacking, the penalty applies for ALL attacks until your next round, including the claws. though they will also have the bonus to damage if they hit.
still want to do this? I'll wait for confirmation.

Ignoring the searing pain and damage caused by the demon's sharp teeth and claws, Malanuus raises his axe once more, for what will hopefully be the final time. He swings, just below the creaturee's rib cage, hoping to split him in two.
With a sickening sound the axe sinks in, falling just short of accomplishing its goal. Malanuus can see now that all that is left to hold this beast together are thin threads of bone and veiny tissue.
ATTK: 12+[dice=20] DMG 13+[dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] COLD[dice=6]
Quickly, Malanuus brings his horns down to finish the job but somehow the fell demon manages to collect what is left of itself and roll away from the fatal attack.
ATTK[dice=20]
With every bit of strength remaining in his tattered body, Nextxes swallows the bile welling up in his throat and sets his sights on the minotaur. If he didn't finish this job now, he was most definately out of the battle
With another blood curdling scream, Nextxes throws all he has at the minotaur, content on at the very least, ripping this mortal to shreds and leaving behind an unrecognizeable heap.
ATTK 12+[dice=20]
dmg 9+[dice=8]
ATTK +7[dice=20] DMg 4+ [dice=8]
ATTK +7 [dice=20] DMG 4+[dice=8]
As the demon claws and bites, never seeming to relent in his assault, Malanuus can see the world going blurry before him. The loss of flesh and blood, bones splintering beneath teeth sharp as razors. It all becomes too much. This was not at all what he had expected.
With a crash resounding in Malanuus's ears and nearly deafening him, the minotaur hears the last sound which he knows that he will ever hear. His beloved axe hits the sand covered battlefield and rests in a puddle of comingled blood.
Nextxes tears at his foe, making the minotaur pay for the pain which he has inflicted. Gradually he backs off as a band of armed warriors comes running to claim the corpse of their fallen friend, lest this mutilation continue.
Many in the crowfd cheer, yet at this point, the battle is in the past as they move on their way to collect bets and unlawful favors amongst themselves.
A firm hand clutches Nextxes's shoulder and rips the fiendish creature to his feet, though the one who does this is lost in the crowd as Nextxes finally works to regain his senses. He must seek rest and healing or the others will take advantage of his weakened state.
As Malanuus's mangled body is hefted from the arena by those he had trusted enough to ask to this fight, some try to do what they can to bring the minotaur around, pouring the contents of many glass and ceramic vials down the minotaurs throat and onto his open wounds one kneels to the ground and takes the ancestral axe, Skullsplitter into his strong hands. With one last look to the demonic Nextxes, he leaves the arena with the minotaur's entourage, ink colored blood coating the weapon as it shimmers in the dim torchlight.
HP totals Malanuus -3 Nextxes 7/47
The battle is finished.[rand=41227446546906439423055425332331345372259436684039617233393672844]

The minotaur falling on the ground, Nextxes grab his chest with his claws and yells with all the remaining strength in its body at the corpse.
"Feel the death, welcome to the infinite pain. Come to the entrance of eternity of the dark. Miserable worm, mutilation of the dark kings, victory of the doomed gods, I shall hunt your soul to eternity. Alone in the wicked plain of despair you will see me and you will fear your torture."
Pussed away, Nextxes screams in victory. The pain was now gone for all he cared about, he killed the minotaur, bringing his mighty axe on the ground, away from him. His loss of blood was no more a concern. He was bleeding from everywhere, spitting blood, but he continued to screams so the minotaur's companion will remember him and his victory.
He will remember that minotaur, and especially the fact that they are as strong as they are told to be. If he was able to, he would tear an other minotaur in pieces in the instant. He loved that painful but short combat.
"I want a horn of that minotaur !" He says to the peoples around him. He want a 'souvenir' of its prey. Something to remember its victory. That minotaur was worth it.
I am immortal, nothing can kill me, especially not a mortal of this kind.
__________________________________ And the minotaur is down !! ;D Damn, that was lucky. Some better rolls, and Nextxes was gone in two pieces. Good, though short, match Kman.
I seriously thought I wasn't going to survive this.

And Malanuus hits the dirt with a heavy thud...his short-lived reign at the top over.
Good and short? I'd have to say neither. It was only two rounds of actual battle, which we should have gotten into WAAAAAY sooner. In fact, if this were D&D minis, I'd have to call the judge over and ask for a ruling on staling. Oh well, the dice were with you Althael--maybe if there's a re-match I'll get lucky and nail you with a crit...or at least a horn attack. Might even the odds a bit. Thanks for the good time though. Oh yeah...and no one takes Malanuus' horns. I'd like to request the same clerical service Keiron got...please and thank you ZBS.

A rematch? Any time. Although, even if we do an other match with Mal an Nex, it may range in the 1-3 rounds again. Rather short...

K Man, no one's gonna take Mal's horns. His buds have got his back and they remembered to bring lots of healing potions. They even grabbed the axe before it could be stolen ----------------------------------
Althael. it was clearly obvious that you underestimated Nex. The fight was really in your favor in terms of dishing out damage once managed to successfully hit.
Though with some better rolls, yeah, it would have been all minotaur. It was really a battle based on who got the better initiative and/or rolls because considering that Nex is a few levels higher then Mal in terms of the game, Malanuus was no doubt doing well on his own.

And I can't really say that a rematch would be worth it. There's really not much which could be changed in terms of tactics. Stalling really doesn't get anyone anywhere so even if that were not to happen, it would only depend on who the dice favored the next time around as there was nothing else to change the flow of the fight.
We could very well say that malanuus wins the rematch and leave it at that. There wasn't much which could have been done differently in this fight so I'd rather not play out a rematch between the same characters. Plus I think I ran out of flavor text to describe them at some point during the thread anyway.
Rolling your own dice and damage would suffice just as well.

Yeah, yeah. We understand. It's useless. That wasn't needed. Or maybe that Nex would win again. Would be like throwing a silver piece on the ground. 1/2 chance for both to win. Aproximatively.

To explain my tactics; What I was trying to do was lure Nex into coming for me and only getting one hit in the first round. That was really my trump card. Though Nex and I are about equal for damage output, around 80% of mine comes in the first attack. So if I could lure Nex into taking a first attack while I only took on attack...the chances are heavily in my favor. That's why I kept trying to lure him in. EDIT: By yeah, I won the re-match, so it's all good. We're square. Thanks again for running it Shakes. Excellent referree-ing!
