"Oh thank Avandra!," exclaimed the man. He then confirmed the guesses as to where he was from with, "I'm Norhand the Farmer from Elkridge."
He continued to explain his plight, "Elkridge is being attacked by large flying drakes that are eating both our livestock and us! Our protector, Victaora Wyvernjack the Bloodblade, passed away last winter. She was a half elven warlord retired from adventuring. Now the town is defenseless against these monsters."
To explain why he was he, he added. "I heard a rumor that there was a group that had saved Moonhaven from goblins. I was hoping I could find them and that they would be willing to help Elkridge. It's too far to walk in a day and I was afraid to camp in the wilderness alone, so I ran most of the way."
Congratulations, you now know what the problem is in Elkridge. Tag all

What time in the day is it, and how long does it normally take to reach Elkridge by foot? We actually might want to buy some horses to get there faster.

"Elkridge is about a day and a half away on foot. A caravan wagon can make it in one long day as long as they have two drivers."
A bit more questioning determines that Elkridge is just over 26 miles away. A bit of a stretch to walk in one day, but not as much as when they traveled to Draigdurroch tower, continued on to the elven village Myaith, then continued overnight to the dragons lair. Norhand's time estimate is based on traveling 6 to 8 hours a day. The group can travel 10 hours a day with no problem, just like the guards for the caravan (which needs two drivers). The trip to Elkridge is about 11 hours at the pace Harknail, Abraxus, and Twinkle Nevertwice can maintain.
It is now late in the day, about an hour before sunset. The group is all well rested, if they wanted to they could travel overnight to Elkridge with only a single Endurance roll needed at the end (Fail = lose 1 healing surge) to arrive by morning. Or they can rest for the night, travel the next day, and arrive near nightfall.
Tag all (hopefully every one is still here). Action will be starting soon.

Xi commented, "Hmmm, In that case, I'd pref to go overnight, maybe take a break during the trip. I hate fighitng in the night. "

"We should buy horses then. That way we can sleep after we reach Elkridge and be rested there tomorrow morning.", Lairaunwen Elereth suggests.

"Mayhap there be fights along the way," cautioned Harknail. "The area be much more wild now than when I be new."
I'll need to hear from everyone before moving to a fight scene. If you're character doesn't say that they are coming along (I.E. you post something), then your character will be left behind. I'll wait at least a week from this posting to give those who haven't been checking the forum regularly a chance to notice and post. Me, I get e-mail whenever someone posts.

"A village in need of a warlord to defend it you say!?" asks Abraxus, clearly interested. "Seems like just the noble task I was looking for. I wouldn't feel right sitting here having another ale knowing those that make it are being eaten by drakes though. I too think we should make haste this very night. Just think how popular we'll be when we save everyone ale supply."
Abraxus stoops to collcet his backpack, javelin and shield whilst talking to anyone who will listen. "Now the thing to do when fighting drakes is avoid letting them bite you. If you never get bit you'll survive a lot longer. But don't worry,I can give you all tips on the jouney there, if we have time..."

OK, it's been over 10 days and I've only seen responses from 4 people (including myself).
So far we have: Harknail, Warforged Paladin, Defender Xi, Changling Psion, Controller Abraxus, Dragonborn Warlord, Leader Laira, Half-elven Warlock, Striker
A smaller group than I was expecting, but we have the roles all covered. Is everyone still up for continuing?

It is a shame that what seemed like enthusiasm died off so quickly. But I would still like to do something. Even if it is with a 4 character group

I'm surprised too. I could understand it if people had to check the forum every day, things have been moving slowly. But the bookmark feature works well for me, letting me notice new messages (but not new threads) right away.
Hopefully once we get started the pace will pick up some. The four players still interested do make a viable party, so we're still good to go. Just waiting to hear from the other 2 that they are still interested in the smaller group.

OK, we have a quorum
Now to start working on the next scenario.
One change, instead of keeping everyone's status in a text file, I'm going to be using iplay4e.com to track status. To see your character's status you'll need a google account to log into iplay4e. These accounts are free, and you can get one without getting a gmail address. Signing up will accept any e-mail address.
Once you're signed up, send me you email address or handle and I'll add you to the campaign.
Here's the link: Moonhaven You can look at your characters without a login, but you can't see the current status.

Of the original group only the Warforged Paladin Harknail and Half-elf Warlock Laira were interested in helping out Elkridge, joined by the Dragonborn Warlord Abraxus and the mysterious dark skinned human woman Xi. Between a Warforged, a Warlock, and a Warlord this group was ready for war. No one knew wat Xi could do, but she knew what she was getting into and still wanted to help, that was enough for Harknail. Since the original group was splitting up, it was time to split the group treasure.
Harknail and Laira each received 248 GP as their share of the groups treasure. Harknail looked at the money as if he had never seen so much before. Actually it's that he had never really had money of his own before he was entombed for ages.
Xi and Abraxus also get 248 GP added to their starting cash. In their case it's money they collected in their adventures before arriving at Moonhaven. Magic items for Xi and Abraxus coming soon...

Now that they had determined who was going, it was time to decide how. Laira and Harknail had enough money between them to buy 4 riding horses if they wanted them (Xi's and Abraxus's money is known only to them so far).
Harknail raps his steel plated stone chest and says, "Me thinks I be a bit heavy for a horse."(Harknail would be a heavy load for a riding horse, but it could carry him)

Xi starts with a Orb of the Sympathetic Eye and a Psyweave Cloak. Abraxus starts with Bold Victory Armor and a Battle Standard of Healing.
My thoughts were that a Battle Standard of Healing might help a group of 4 take on challenges designed for a group of 5.

"Three? only three of you?" Abraxus exclaims in disappointment. "It's drakes not dragons you know? Ah well, So be it." Looking to the volunteers, "Right, Lets get going. You want a horse? You don't? Can we get some easily at this time of night? I don't mind walking, It'll be good exercise. But if getting some won't take too long we could get some for us three. If we arrive fresher we can hopefully get the jump on the beasts!"
I'm not that bothered about the horse issue. Just keen for the characters to be on their way in some fashion

Laira realizes that if Harknail is walking, horses wouldn't get the rest there any sooner or fresher, just poorer.
The party of four gets directions from the man from Elkridge, it sounded like the path should be easy to follow. While Norhand is willing to guide them, even with Harknail's healing he's in no shape to do so. Paec promises that he'll take care of the worn out traveler.
Eager to get on their way, Harknail, Laira, Abraxus and the mysterious Xi head on out to find the trail to Elkridge. The setting sun makes it easy to find the Moonhaven end of the trail and they are off on their latest adventure.
On our way it is...
