I noticed in the DM Short's character lists that there are a few characters that are listed as Way of the Samurai, and are clearly based off of the Naruto setting. Just wondering if anyone has ever seen the Naruto d20 system that someone created. You can check it out at this site

I've seen it. Frankly, I think M&M works better. (And I wish Arclite would come back to run that again.)

Hm. I'm not too sold on the M&M setting. I've played it a bunch, but never really gotten into it. The reason I pointed out the Naruto d20 one was mainly due to the fact that it's pretty well fleshed out. It has a system that is specifically designed for the Naruto world, and all the abilities are in line with that.
Well, I don't know how many people would be interested, but I would actually like to try out these rules. I'd be willing to run a short if enough people were interested.

No, no, no, not the setting. The M&M setting is bland garbage. What's pure gold is the ruleset, which is unbeleivably flexible and lends itself quite well to the kind of spectacular stunts and variety of abilities that are portrayed in Naruto, and many other kinds of anime. To think of it only as a superhero system is a mistake, it's fantastically versitile and surprisingly elegant. I find it much more streamlined and easy to use than Frankto's... excited, well-meaning bundle of rules. At any rate, I'd be interested in a Naruto game run with either system.

Oh sorry, I mistyped myself there. I didn't mean to say I didn't like the setting because as you've said it can be used for any setting. Guess I should actually read what I type sometimes. I meant to say I've never been a fan of the rule sets. For me at least, I've been always a big fan of balance, and this system lacks it. The games I've run, which is around PL 10 or so, you can simply make some broken characters. You really have to rely on the players to not make overly powerful characters, which considering it was a super hero game, most of them wanted to do.
I simply think that these set of rules might be better just for the simple fact that they've been created specifically for the Naruto world. They've been created with all other powers in mind that are supposed to be within the setting, so things should be balanced with that in mind. Now, I've only looked over the book a few times, and mostly skimmed through the book, so there might be some things that are broken, but that happens with every system. I was just hoping to try it out. Of course, so far I only have one person interested, so it might not happen, heh.

Rojito's usually up for any new games. But that said, numbers are a little hard to come by lately, with all the activity on the boards. A lot of the games you see are exceedingly new. They are ordered from the oldest campaigns at the top (World's Largest Dungeon) to the youngest games at the bottom (Tabloid Truths). My game, Dark Sun, is somewhere in the middle... And it was started 2-3 months ago. A lot of DMs have come forward lately.
Which is why it's good to see some new blood around here. Hopefully we'll get more.

Cool, so that's two. Yeah new players are always cool to sites as they add something new. Especially ones as bored as work as myself and who checks the boards as much as I do.
Also, I've already called one of my friends and hopefully I can get him to join the boards. I know he's a Naruto fan so he might even be willing to jump aboard this game.

With respect, balance is a major concern in both systems. Mutants and Masterminds at least has a balancing mechanism in its Power Level Caps system, which if diligently applied solves the vast majority of balance problems. Naruto d20 is riddled with balance and other issues. Many of its custom talent trees far outmatch those they exist alongside. The Advanced Bloodline feat grants level adjustment, which is just bad design. The Genius Nin feat is too good for anyone not to take. The Vile Technique meta-chakra feat makes a technique deal negative energy damage, which is undefined anywhere in the core d20 Modern rulebook or the Naruto d20 rules- it's a D&D artifact. It includes statistics for cars, motorcycles, and trucks, despite strong indications that the Naruto tech level doesn't support them. The rulebook is seven hundred pages long, several times larger than the core system it expands. It's simply inelegant.

Heh. Yeah. Still interested. Although I've still only have two people interested, you and Rojito. If we could at least get one more, then you'd have the team of three and I'll just have an NPC Jounin. Edit: Also wanted to let you know that I agree that the Narutod20 system does still need some work. Especially the bloodlines. Looking over those wanted to make me cry. ECL for bloodlines is the worst idea. However, if you check out the forums, he is trying to rework the system. Apparently, I haven't played Arcana Unearthed or whatever it's called, the author is changing the bloodlines into an interesting idea. It's not complete, but I think it's at least a much better improvement over the ECL system he has instituted now. It can be kind of confusing, so you might need to read through it a few times, but once you understand it's not a bad system, at least I don't think it is. Here's a link so you can check it out if you care to ... Link to PDF

I havae to say, last night, on Cartoon Network, I got my first introduction into Naruto, and man, I have to say, it's pretty damn good. I like the storyline and such, as well as the concept. Good luck to you all! I might have to start reading up on this thread, once it starts!

Well, I'd really recommend not watching the Cartoon Network version. I'd suggest downloading the Japanese version as I think it's much better, and it goes a lot further in the series.

And watching it on cartoon network is far more legal.

To each his own. So, Fangor, Lin, TZS- does that mean any of you is interested in being our third?

The core system is essentially d20 Modern. It's d20 Modern modified so as to make it nearly unrecognizable, but it's still d20 Modern.
