Should we also include a link to the 3.5 SRDCouldn't hurt. I know I'm a minority, but I needed the link to play here.

It's a good link. I find that if I don't have electronic access to certain rules, I'm disinclined to use them. The d20srd.org site has been awesome.

I posted the links and made an Out of Town sub board in the community section. (would've called it "Gone Fishing" or "AFK" but we're trying to kimit confusion, right) So Let me know if there's a better place for it.

would there also be a thread to just inform people of the days of the week we KNOW we wont have access to our computer on? Like I have Wednesday and Thursday off, and i go into town (i live out at a lake) so i dont have access to a computer, i think that letting the DMs know the schedual for capable posting even on a limited scale like that would be nice. I have actually seen games updated both Teusday morning (at work) and then again Thursday morning before i have a chance to attempt to post. While this is not the norm, it could help DMs understand if someone always misses a vital posting day.

Well, you could probably just write it there as a reminder, though I'm not sure that it will have as much of an effect as someone who is going to be missing a whole week or three or who is just going to be able to do a few sporadic posts a month for a while which is mainly what most of us are concerned with knowing.

Speaking personally, that would be good information to have as well.

I guess, especially in Rojito's case, since he's in almost every single game and without him we'd probably go under.
Reminder threads or posting status threads on that board would certainly work, that way someone can have one place where they can find all of that info if they're ever wondering what's up with someone's lack of posting on certain days/times.

I just registered to K.Man's and one thing I noticed is that it says "Please see the Rules and Guidelines sections for...well, Rules and Guidelines." on the home page, but then I couldn't find a section with that name... (I still found the things I was looking for in the end, but I thought it was worth mentioning)

Yeah, we just started the rennovations last week and haven't gotten around to the matter of the news fader yet.
It should be taken care of within the next couple of days or so.
Thanks for pointing that out and bringing it to immediate attention though

Someone mentioned that they have a hard time following games nowadays and aren't sure what is worth following. So my Idea is Game summaries! Whoever wants to, DM, Observer, or Player can go through the previous threads in a game and compile them into a condensed story format. Another perk of this is being able to refer back to what has happened to refresh oneself after some time off or long break between postings. For example, I have started doing this with Random Acts: A Lion in the Ropes so here is a little bit. There's more but not finished yet. What do you think?
------------------------------------------------------------ Lion in the Ropes: Starting Group and description: Nikolai Rykov, (Arclite) – A somewhat cowardly, if not jumpy, human wizard. Cade Sapphender, (IstarinCale) – A sneaky little Halfling Rogue. Jael, (TheZebraShakes) – A hyperactive, short attention span, childish Elven Ranger. Rojito, (Rojito) – A young powerhouse of a human fighter. Former Town-guard. Reno Corrigan, (Ryngo) – A Human Cleric who prays to a Great Wolf. Kanaan, (Toptomcat) – An enormous Half-orc Fighter trained to be a Sword Saint in an army before it was crushed in war.
A group of fledgling adventurers set out into the lands of Lord Galveston after enjoying the sights and sounds of Johannes Fever and his traveling circus. The reason for setting out on this adventure? Why, fame, fortune, and the thrill of it all! At the circus a story teller named Hawk tells the tale of the dreaded Charon Fiend of Twilight Wood. Excited by the thought of facing off against this terror, the group gathers information pointing them to Lord Galveston’s village of Freiburg. Where their adventure will begin as they set out to kill the Charon Fiend for fame, glory, and maybe to help the people. Heading northeast towards Freiburg, the group stops at a small village to rest their weary bones and get out of the torrential downpour. Noticing an odd lack of sentries or any sort of watch for a small village in an allegedly “dangerous” land, the group entered the town with caution. Coming to a large house, the group attempts to make a deal for some sort of lodging, but the resident acts very strangely and urges the group to “safe lodging” miles further down the road at the Four Saints church in Capendu. The group finds out that the reason the villagers won’t open their doors to them is an order from Lord Galveston himself, apparently there is a murdering beast on the loose. Reluctantly, the group heads north to Capendu. Upon arriving to the small town they spy the large church and head over, upon knocking an acolyte gives them entry and lodging for the night at the grand church of Farlanghn. The acolyte informs the group that 16 people had been killed by a great cat-like creature, and the fellow from a nearby village claimed to see a catlike beast with serpents coiled around its neck – The Charon Fiend of Twilight Wood. The acolyte recalls the Deacon, Master Adelton, leaving Capendu to get aid from Freiburg and Lord Galveston, he was found on the back of the river a week ago and buried in the crypt.

Actually, Vemu and I were talking about this, and we thought it'd be something DM's could take care of, to keep a general update of how games are progressing, and make it easier for people to follow and jump in, if needed.

I think that each DM would do well to maintain such a sticky in their main gaming thread. Seems proper to get other folks a summary and a reminder for the PCs so they can easily recap. In PbP there are times when a few days in a game are months of posts and it's easy to forget exactly how you got there.
It is extra work up front, but if you type a paragraph a or two month for upkeep it's not so bad.

Yes, Udjat and I discussed this, as there are still plans for the Highlights and Archives section. I think the result of our plans is a museum (for the archives) and a newspaper (for the highlights).
The newspaper: Every three months, a new newspaper will appear, of which we have yet to decide on a nice name. The important thing to remember here is: input is essential, and central. I don't want to be the one writing an entire newspaper. Instead, a newspaper is made by all members of the community and is divided into three sections.
1. A summary of all the games, good especially for newcomers to a game, and for those who are interested in following games they are not participating in themselves. But they have to be provided by those who are in the games themselves, most likely the DM's. If they simply provide an update once every 3months, preferably short (an alinea at most, or this section will also grow too large), this could work. To give them further encouragement, we could make an Election out of this. A poll can be set up with all the summaries, and people can vote for what they think is the most interesting summary/story development. The most interesting summary of past events wins, of course putting the game in a positive spotlight for some time.
2. Highlights: they could be a character quote or action or an entire scene or dialogue. The only requisite is that someone must nominate it for the Highlights Election. Nominating yourself is not forbidden, but nominating others is encouraged, as long as you remain critical and unbiased. Then, a poll can be posted every newspaper, in which people can vote on the nominees. The winner will appear on the newsfader together with a few lines from his/her winning highlight. Perhaps some other reward may be thought up as well.
3. And of course a few general columns/articles which can be about anything related to news/thoughts that are boards or game-related. Anyone can write these.
The Museum: This could be a place where all formerly nominated events/quotes etc. are kept together sorted by character, or perhaps by game. Even those characters that have long gone inactive, their games closed, would still all be there. It would grow over time, displaying the best of Kman's throughout the ages.
That's how I think this could work. I'll need to start writing up the guidelines, but let me know before I start what you think, especially if you think it'll have potential.

I'm not sure if it is related, but if it is, we must've done something right. In the past couple of days, we've had more influx of new players than in a long time before that. Cheers for that! Anyway, are there no suggestions for the highlights plans? Can I take that as a green light and write the guidelines?

Having a small section devoted to the campaign for a brief intro would be nice. Makes me think back on the website I ran, which was in a newspaper format. I still have the template, although I don't have the program anymore. I would have to scrounge around to find the install again. Good times...

Can we call it a newsletter? Newspaper seems weird.
Otherwise, seems solid. I can help you tweak guidelines once you get something drafted out, to see if I can spot anything missing.

Newsletter seems more appropriate, though I'm on no position to offer assistance with it right now. Were I DMing, I'd be writing up a summary of my game as a sticky, regardless of the a newspaper/letter or museum or any of that. It just seems useful IMO.

Forget newsletter...that's weak. Go with something like KMan's Kronicle. Or The PBP Register. Or Recount the Saga. Or Art and Archive. The list goes on but it does not include newletter...
