The dove is stark white like any other of its kind, except towards the tips of its wings and tail, where the feathers turn a brilliant red.

Scarlet is shy around most people, though she tends to relax a little around other elves, or people that have spent a lot of time in the wilderness (druids and rangers, for instance), generally preferring the company of animals. Due to her shyness, she tends to hide beneath a heavy, dark cloak and hood, keeping very discreetly to herself, and speaking only when addressed.
On the occasions she does speak, her Common is halting and occasionally awkward, as she grasps to understand certain unfamiliar words. But her voice is smooth as silk, accented heavily with her native elven. She touches her words with a certain lyrical quality, as if she would be more comfortable singing the words than speaking them.
Scarlet's hair matches her name, and her eyes are bright and piercing, constantly darting around to take in her surroundings. She moves in short bursts more often than leisurely strides, keeping close to natural obstacles and veering away from open spaces. Confining buildings make her just as uncomfortable, though she moves easily around trees.
Edit: Scarlet also has feathered wings on her back, though she often prefers to conceal them beneath her cloak. They are a brilliant white in color and, much like her dove companion, fade to a crimson color at the tips, matching her hair.
Background
Scarlet Dove hails from a reclusive society of wild elves living deep within the woods. She has dwelled in the wild's embrace all of her lengthy elven life, and it has made her a skilled and able huntress. For many years she would roam the outskirts of her wilderness home, watching with interest the lives of civilized races, with their busy lives and grand wars, their caravans and stone buildings. But she never edged closer, not until tragedy forced her to.
Now, with her village massacred by an unknown foe, Scarlet finds herself the last survivor of her ancient society. To her is left the task of passing on their traditions, of honoring their lives - and avenging their deaths. It is this path that has carried her into a land she never thought she would set foot in. Human lands.
