What do you think? I know ninja is PrC, but it cant be PrC for one reason: ninjas train all their life!!! Click HERE to download my version of the ninja and tell me if it can be a core class here?

Ask anyone here...I think Ninjas...nay, Martial Arts and the Orient in general are bad-ass... I'd love to run an Oriental campaign sometime. And who knows...if KMansadventures is a success..I just might. Anyways, class looks fine to me. I'd move Hide in plain sight down a bit further on the list, to like 12th or 14th level...but beyond that, looks fine. I think the reason there are "core classes" is because they are "core" ideas. The fighter that swings his sword, the thief that sneaks through shadows, the cleric that calls upon his god for help, the spellcaster that weaves magic energy etc. Ninja is really just glorified thief-monk to me. Now, it can be aruged that a paladin is a fighter-cleric, and a ranger is a fighter-thief and those statements are mostly true. But the idea of a paladin I think stems more from a knight...a chivalrous individual, pious and holy. As for ranger, don't ask me why it's a core class. Probably to appease the Tolkein-ites out there and give them homage to Strider/Aragorn whoever...and it's not a bad class idea, but I'll never admit it. And as for a ninja training their whole life...sure. But a Ninja can also be a Samurai that has fallen out of favor with their lord, or is working two sides at once. A ninja can also be someone that has been wronged in the past, and now makes a living out of revenge. Only the creme-de-la-creme of ninjas train their whole life and if they did, you're not even supposed to know they existed. I think the idea of ninja is just something that can applied to the core idea of a monk. (Referring back to my idea of cores above) Someone who spends their life dedicated to preservation and wholeness of body. Being silent, bending like a reed in the wind and every other cliche of martial arts I can think of. A ninja is just a monk that hones their skills towards a certain avenue of work. I.E. - Assassination, spying etc. What's all this mean? It means that although I think the idea of a ninja as a core is cool, I personally wouldn't allow it. This is because you can obtain basically the same idea with a monk and the right combination of skills and feats plus role-playing. Hope that helps.

Not sure why you need to die to accomplish this...but why not?
Like I said, I have no objections to Ninja as a PrC, but as a core, I have issues. You could even do a Ninja outside of an Oriental Campaign and just call it something else like...
Master of Shadows The Unseen
Etc.

I took a look at it, and here are my thoughts:
So what's he proficient with? Zip? Starting gold? Ref as a bad save? wtf?
But let's run the numbers. As thrawn will tell you, I do that much better than my rping, which is a little weak.
2 good saves. +1 BAB\level d10 4 skill points\level 60% sneak attack Harder-than-normal hands (1d8) Throw in slow fall, the uncanny dodges, and evasion, and I think you've got an unbalanced class.

my players play with overpowered classes like Dragon Desciple, so they thought it was balanced

How is DD overpowered? It takes ten levels to get a +3 LA template. That doesn't sound overpowered at all.

oh really? well, lets see: Fly, Blindsense, Darkvision, Immunety to sleep paralysis, and breath weapon energy, breath weapon, claws and bite, wing, +4 str, +2 con, +2 int, +2 cha, a lvl 20 sorc and 10 dd got ton of spells, d12 hp, natural armor,
come on, this is way unbalanced.

Thats not unbalanced at all, compared to a half-dragon sorc 20\fighter 7, which is completely legal.

well, i think it's overpowered. about the saves.. look at the monk's saves! all of them are good. and he got tons of immuneties, and other stuff. he's unarmed attack is like 2d10, and he got 5 of them.. so, drop the imm, the ref save and some other monk stuff, and add 2 hp, and some bab, you get my ninja.
i'm not gonna argue with you, you dont want it in your game, fine. i'll be a monk ;D

Wazikishi might make more thematic sense than katana, as a full-length blade kinda goes against that "subtle lurker" image ninjas cultivate.

It's a mix between a short sword and a dagger.
