I generally only buy issues of Dragon when I see something really cool in them. So of course when I was at FLGS yesterday, I had to get the issue updating all the old camapiagn settings. For al-Qadim, they had the class called the sha'ir. It's pretty sweet, I think. Has anyone else seen this?

Yeah I've seen them. The idea is pretty cool. Isn't it where they cast magic through a little personal genie?

Something like that, though it was cooler in the article.

What's cooler than your own personal Genie? Besides your own personal Great Wyrm Dragon that is? ;D
Personally, I'd rather have my own personal plane where I'm god...but that's a little to close to DMing.

The Sha'ir did cast his magic through his own personal jin. The idea was you sent him off to the elemental planes to fetch magic for you. He could come back with arcane or divine magic. You could even try to have him fetch higher level spells than you could normally cast

Too bad neither of my characters has any reasonable explination or need for this class. Sounds like we need to introduce Haqim's long lost brother...
