Persephone will fly back to Sanem, and he will see how wounded she is. "Could any of you aid my friend with your healing magics? I'm afraid it may take her a night to recover from her wounds otherwise." A healing word with the wisdom bonus should take her up to something reasonable. I will need to be more careful and not let her be the only target of attacks in the future!
Sanem spends a healing surge.

I thought one of us would go down this time but again we all made it. Good job.

Zachary goes to see what he can do to help Harknail. Perhaps Prestidigitation could be used to increase the friction of the ice. It seems like the kind of thing Prestidigitation could do, but I'm not sure how to wedge it into its listed effects. Would "soiling" the ice with sand work? Or maybe causing small spikes to temporarily appear on Harknail?

Sanem will walk over to Zachary, mutters "Magi..." reaches into his pack pulls out a rope tosses it Harknail and once Harknails has grabbed hold will drag him off of the icy patch.

When he walked up to it, Sanem recognized this a Treacherous Ice, slick, but easy enough to pass for someone with a good sense of balance (acrobatics DC 10 or higher depending on speed).
"I thank thee," said Harknail as he was pulled to safety.
Meanwhile Zachary did indeed find it educational. It was difficult to make something less slick...
Edit: Fixed wizard name

Sanem pats Zachary on the back and says "Without the powers of magic we would have froze long before the goblins slaughtered us. But never forget that most people must make do with their brains and muscles alone. The simple peasant may have some tricks up his sleeve that could surprise even an arch-mage... though I'd still rather fight the peasant than the magi!"

You can take multiple 5 minute rests, so you can use encounter powers (healing) freely. It would be best for Zynthis to heal Persephone, since a cleric can get the most out the the birds last healing surge. After that, Sanem can heal Persephone using his own healing surges, or Harknail can use his Lay on Hands.

I think I almost have it," Zachary says, experimentally putting his foot on a patch of ice he just enchanted. "No, that didn't work. Maybe this? No? Hmmm. Maybe I need more parameters." While the rest of the party is doing something useful (or just resting for five minutes), Zachary will crack open his spell book, and peruse his notes for an easy (magical) way to make ice not slippery. Success is irrelevant.

Having resorted to brute force to ease his frustrations, Zachary sighs in disappointment that he couldn't work out a more elegant solution to the problem before the rest of the party was ready to move on. Thinking about it, I foresee spell research as one of the missing elements that WotC could really work on for 4th ed.

I appreciate the work they did to balance things, and the simplicity of having only one resource system for powers; I think that it would be more fun and "magical" if different had different ways of doing things.

You start to see a bit more variety in PHB3. For example, the psion doesn't have encounter powers, instead he can boost his at will powers to two different levels using a point pool for that purpose the recharges from a long rest. Compatible with other characters, but different.

Sart looks around and doesn't see anyone else doing anything. So she takes it on herself to start looting the bodies for what few valuables they carried. Though she limits herself to the bodies that she can reach without climbing cliffs.
Tag, what do the people at the top of the hill want to do with their second surrendered goblin?

In goblin Zynthis will ask the new goblin captive "What is behind all this cold weather? Who is responsible?" Use Insight to try to determine the truth worthiness of his answer. [dice=20]+9=21 [rand=55402074733989776932181962181116806809960788198102961009248415558]

Thursagan will appraise whatever weapons or armor that the goblins carry. Zero expectations, but it is a habit.

Bharash commands the hexer to end the annoyingly cold cloud and hand over his rod (or wand or whatever he was using).
A magical hand will then get a length of rope out of his pack and tie the hexer up.
"Go on" Bharash spits "Give him an answer!" Bharash still seemed a bit unhinged by all blasts of ice that had been sent him his way. He could probably do with someone having a word with him to calm him down (aka he could do with one of those healing words now, to heal him and bring him out of rage)

A magical hand will then get a length of rope out of his pack and tie the hexer up. The new captive ends his Freezing Cloud (or rather does not sustain it), and hands over his rod. He allows himself to be tied up without protest. Mage hand does a great job wrapping rope around things, it's not quite so good with knots. Still it gets the job done without anyone touching the new captive. In goblin Zynthis will ask the new goblin captive "What is behind all this cold weather? Who is responsible?" "Go on" Bharash spits "Give him an answer!" Bharash still seemed a bit unhinged by all blasts of ice that had been sent him his way. He could probably do with someone having a word with him to calm him down The goblin is confused for a moment, trying to decide what language to answer in. He finally decides to answer in the language that the questions were asked in, Goblin. <The storms started around the Frozen Demon tower about a week ago while we were hunting. Some died, the rest were changed by the storm. I don't know why the Frozen Demon tower is doing anything now, it's been there for longer than any living goblin can remember.>
