turning to the wizard Would you like to examine them yourself? you can cast magic i cant. i was just doing this to better understand what is going on, so that i can try to help them as well as ourselves. we need to keep one alive for Stria to get any information it has. I am truly sadden that there is very little we can do for them. Barbatos could you dispell this magic there must be a way, some kind of spell.

Tol
"Living as a mindless servant to another is a fate worse then death, and no being, even your own greatest enemy should have to continue an existence as such!" I say turning to the rest of the group, no longer leaning against the fence, but still staying in range of #4.
"Gnome, either way i doubt most beings will not already see it as an act of aggression to have your holy magic draw them into attacking you. If we want to try and talk to one we should minimize bindings and speak to it. If you offer it food immediately it may see this as you showing your own subservience by giving it your share and take the dominate lead."
After my little rant i turn to the Star Lock who seems to know how to speak to reptiles. "When they awaken i would suggest taking the most frightening of us and have it bark orders at it, that you can translate, or at least tell us how to say it so it will understand. From a Drakes point of view i doubt it will appreciate kindness more then power." Not saying aloud how i think as I'm a dead guy can be the scariest of us, and if they had been paying attention i nearly killed the drakes i fought in 2 hits a piece.
"And if none of this work, I'm sorry but we will have to put them down. We cannot allow them to continue to harass these people."

When Dart examined the drake he had tied, he realized that maybe what would hold a pig wouldn't hold a drake. As he was adjusting the knots, the divinely challenged drake woke up and easily broke free. It's call woke up the other drakes and they began struggling against their bonds. #2 started snapping at Dart even before it stood up. Prone bite vs AC, damage: (1d20+9-2=22, 1d10+4=7)Even though still prone, it sank it's teeth into it's best spokesperson. The other three drakes struggle franticly against their bonds but were unable to break free. But the way the ropes were stretching made it obvious that it was just a matter of time before they broke free. But for now they were prone and helpless (prone and grant combat advantage, may be target of a coup de grace). Escape rolls: #3,#4,#5 (1d20+6=12, 1d20+6=19, 1d20+6=17)Map (will be updated to reflect current situation)

Popol moves to G11 and casts Healing on Dart.
for bonus healing [dice=6]
Popol shouts to Dart as he casts, "Out of curiosity, gnome, at what point are you thinking it will be appropriate to kill the magically corrupted, eternally evil, mindless man-eating drakes?"[rand=819265797677379552174022434724137183443075732476265713845445156]

Knock them out again. Killing them is not going to solve this problem. Eyebite [dice=20]+4, [dice=6]+3, divine challenge +3, warlock's curse [dice=6]. Evil - I don't claim to understand beyond recognizing it when I see it, and I think that the permanent spell may in fact be an ancient spell used to force them to be mounts. Need in times of war tend to be a very strong motivators. But you are wrong to think slavery is worse then death. Although not a good act by any means, indentured servitude - be it undead, golems, animals, magical creatures or people - which I admit is little different from honest slavery - has hope and hope is the ultimate good. Even true slaves have hope until they have been broken. As enforced servants - they live. With - life there is always hope. Only in death has hope ended forever as I know of no way to give life to the dead. None. Now animating the dead in most cases is evil. It is the ultimate form of torture, but even I can see some value in it. I just would never forgive myself having any part in creating them. Now these are wild creatures and all wild creatures should never be treated as entirely safe. We need to knock them out or drug them or cage them somehow until we can get to the bottom of this problem. As I see it these creatures are little different then wild horses, trainable and where riding a horse may be a form of enslaving the animal - it is common practice worldwide.[rand=24922593520022933344319064635783472739782789722088694287270773202]

"You are a fool, and you do not understand. Their minds have been stolen, its not that they were done this to be better mounts. When they were mounts they communicated with their riders on almost an intellectual level. They were bonded and worked together as a team. As of now they are rabid animals, who for the sake of everyone elses safety must be put down. The Elements abandon me if I am wrong, but I will put these once noble creatures out of their misery and allow them to be free to fly with Bahamut in the endless skies."
Earth Shield Strike, for lethal
Edit: Coup De Grace
Edit: Adding character name: Romra

The lunatic was going to get them all killed! "Shardmind, get out of the way!"
Barbatos throws his arm forwards over the shoulder of his companion, shards of light exploding from his palm and engulfing the enraged drake. Quickly the wizard then withdraws and presses himself against the door, finding what shelter he can.
(functionally i'm going to have to move to H10, cast colour spray north east to avoid hitting whoever that is at K12. I'll then use the orb of nimble thoughts to shift back to my original position without provoking an AoO. Since this will cover Dart i'll use the enlarge spell power to reduce damage.)
[dice=20]+7 vs will vs drake [dice=6]+4 radiant damage [dice=20]+7 vs will vs dart [dice=6]+4 radiant damage
(anyone hit is dazed until the end of my next turn, which I can extend again on the drake with orb of imposition - given my high init that should tie it up for the next 3 rounds)[rand=8926828910194963525498603014860788660431836184883103414452898527]

Which lunatic is going get everyone killed? I think we have a party full of them at the moment. I'll take the kill strike if I can intercept it -if I can't well I can't. But I would try. ( Real world note. I was enslaved as a child when I was 7 1/2 years old until I was 10 and I'm not talking figuratively. Chains and all. Only someone that has truly lived though it - can truly understand slavery.I survived but it nearly killed me. Dart intercepts the kill strike on the drake that just attacked him. "I understand perfectly. Your dragon born and like all dragon blood's you have a species hatred of your species cousins. I just see more then you do. The fey are distantly related to gnomes, but we don't kill them just because we can or because we fear or hate them. But I can give you an even better argument then that. We are here to protect the farmers - right? The farmers - by your slave argument are the greatest evil imaginable! They enslave the animal for life, they kill them and eat them. If we where talking about people? You all know who you'd be killing. But you want to kill the victims, the drakes. We need to find a way for everyone to live in peace. It's just an idea. But we could try it?" will save[dice=20]+4[rand=9307633286807686256245125783607362875348909292371811188431456685]

Which lunatic is going get everyone killed? In character Barbatos has seen Dart fiddling with the drake's bindings and then it breaking free.
Rojito isn't attacking the drake next to you. I think that's him in M14.
There is no secondary save against colour spray - if you have a will save of 13 or lower Dart is dazed - it doesn't prevent him using a standard action to attack the drake with eyebite, it just stops the drake running off and attacking someone else.

The drakes mind was too frantic for Dart to influence (in other words Dart missed). Rolling for Romra: Atk vs AC for auto crit, extra damage: (1d20+9=25, 1d6=4)But Romra had no problems slaying the bound and helpless drake before him, putting it out of it's misery before it could hurt anyone else.

Barbatos spray of color left the drake shaking it's head to clear it, oblivious to those around it for a moment. The diminutive paladin was able to ignore the effects.
Hit drake, missed Dart. Only one damage roll is used for burst or blast attacks. And you can't move back without spending an action point, since you used your move action to get into position and using the orb would require a second move action. On the other hand, the dazed drake can't make opportunity attacks and seems to be focused on Dart.
Also, I will be assuming that you're going for the kill unless stated otherwise. I think that's the group consensus this time around (with Dart objecting)

Harknail reattaches his sword but otherwise does nothing. He had promised not to strike at a drake eating Dart, and as a Paladin of Kord he couldn't bring himself to attack something that was still bound. But he keeps alert for any that break free.
Calling out to Dart, he asked, "Can thy truly not see the difference between man and beast? Would thy have men die so that a wild beast may live?"
Readies standard action to charge toward any drake that brakes free of the ropes (except #2).

Stria turns to drake #3 and yells at it in draconic.
Stay down if you know what is good for you! And if you don't prepare to feel my wrath.
Intimidate: [dice=20] +13= 26
She also curses the drake and prepares to blast it with an eldritch blast to knock it out again if it attacks her.
[dice=20] +7= 17 versus Reflex
[dice=10] + [dice=6] +6= 16

Intimidate in combat to force surrender is a Standard action, Intimidate vs Will + hostility bonuses , so she can't also prepare an attack. A moot point, she beat the it's will by more than 10.
Something in Stria's voice gets through to the dimwitted drake, and it calms at least for now, just laying there panting as best it could with it's mouth tied shut and bound to it's legs. This one also seemed to be the best tied, it was making less progress on freeing itself than the others.
#3 has given up struggling... for now...

Dart looks at Harknail, "I see the difference as well as you do. But the farmers are safe for the moment, these drakes are not. All Gnome's first beloved duty is to protect nature. Nature has always been very good to my people. Wild animals play with our children, protect our children and when they are in need or injured they seek my people out for help. This has been true for as long as my people can remember. Even all gnomish gods been over backward to protect nature. Most of my people ride wild beasts all the time or can turn into animals that other races hunt with bear traps. No Harknail, insanity is not what drives my people. Our love is what drives us and our love is good enough to forgive a hurt or frighten animal they my strike out and kill us in pain and fear. I realize you cannot have children. I pity you for that flaw in your design. For most races - it is our children that we treasure the most and animals make children happy. They always do. For me that is all the reason I need to do what is hard - such as helping these animals find peace."

Harknail glances at the doorway to the cottage, where two children can be seen hiding behind the skirts of their mother. He replies, "Perhaps in thy world children playeth with drakes, but when we arrived here these drakes be trying to get at the children to eateth them. I be summoned to help the famers, not the beasts that would devour them."
Despite his words Harknail makes no move towards any of the still living drakes.

Popol says to Dart, "I can respect someone who stands by his opinions, but holding to them stubbornly and ignoring all practical reason in doing so is hardly the action of a wise mind. Every one of us has made an effort to compromise except you. You seem agreeable to being eaten, but I am not, and it is increasingly clear that we cannot help these drakes, only destroy them or let them destroy us. I would kill my closest friend rather than let him devour my flesh in a fit of mindless rage. I see no reason to extend a greater courtesy to these drakes."

the orb would require a second move action [/color][/quote] Ah yes, didn't see that when reading the orb. I'll use my next action to move away - I can keep it dazed for pretty much 3 full rounds, after which I assume it'll start eating Dart again, if not sooner
