Yes Mr.Barbatos that was the name, i would wish others to try to pay more attention to my history lesson. As for the truble we would be in I will say it like this. Take your bow for instence lets say for the sake of argument it was crafted by your grandfather. he pased it down to your father who passed it to you. If you have a son that comes of age you will pass it to him and so on. You would not like it if some random being that was not even of your race that tried to sell it not knowing the true value it was to your family. that would be a major insult to your family line would it not, it would be to mine. that being said This dagger has an owner, if the owner is dead and has no family then it is ours. Dragons and dragonborn are from what i have been led to believe are not know for their kindness, if we take something of theirs, something that should be past through a family line and we are not of their kind, it would be a major insult to them. I rather them be on our side and help us, if at all possible for it to be such. I have no idea how they would react they may not care i was just pointing out there my be consequences of our actions that is all.

Romra had no problems following the drakes trail back to where it started. He did see a drake fly overhead from behind him to somewhere in front of him.
Llewelyn could also easily follow the drakes trail. He led the rest of the group to the same spot where they found Romra examine the scene.
Dart saw a drake flying overhead and starting heading in the direction he last saw the drake. He didn't find the drake, but he did find some familiar voices talking.
The trail ends near the body of a Dragonborn. The corpse is sunken face down into a body- shaped depression in the ground. The dragonborn’s armor is destroyed, but tatters of torn cloth are snagged in the links of mail. Coins are scattered everywhere from a belt pouch that split open.
Harknail comments, "He falleth from a great hight to land such. Mayhaps the drake throweth riders from great hights.".
Popol notices some red fabric caught about 25 feet up in a tree.
A DC 10 Heal check to confirm Harknail's comment about the fall. He comment about the drake tossing riders is pure conjecture on his part.

Though Romra is tempted to say something to Dart, he thinks better and allows someone else to question the little man. Also noticeing the fabric Romra will climb the tree and get the fabric. Also while up there he will attempt to see anything that can be seen.

"Harknail can you give me a bust? I want to take a look up there." Barbatos presses a palm to his face, wishing his magic could fling the gnome that high. With a simple flick of his wrist he untangles the fabric overhead and pulls it down to eye level. (mage hand)

Harknail is startled by the reappearance of Dart, but gives him a boost up the tree. But while Romra and Dart are climbing the tree, the scrap of cloth frees itself from the tree and moves down to the ground. Romra continues climbing to look around, but doesn't see anything of interest. Dart Climb check: (1d20=11)Dart finds that climbing a tree in full plate armor is difficult, but he manages to do it. Once the cloth is down at the ground it can be identified as a torn tabard emblazoned with a symbol of a serpent. This is the same symbol of Zehir as was branded on the drake and was on the tabard found near the drake. Search, Spot, and Listen are all combined into Perception now. Climbing is now part of Athletics.

Dart's fall is cushioned by landing on the backpack of the dead Dragonborn. Hopefully there was nothing fragile inside...

Dart opens the dragonborns pack. It may be time to find some answers - Dart does not hide anything he finds in the pack - he just sets it out as if he is cataloging the packs contents.

The dead dragonborn's backpack contained only a thick jacket, loose enough to fit over armor and thick enough to provide considerable warmth. Like the smaller thinner tabard (a shirt that goes over armor), this heavier jacket was bright red and had the serpent symbol on the front.
Searching the rest of the body Dart found a piece of parchment tucked into his belt. He unfolded it and spread it out on the ground so that others could see it as well. It appeared to be some kind of map, but the routes marked on it didn't make any sense.
It was Dart that first came up with idea that those were aerial routes to and from a nearby mountain (the one with a flat top). He also noticed Wherever the aerial routes approach inhabited areas, they swing wide and avoid stretches where a flyer could be spotted easily. Once Dart suggested that, Barbatos, Blastishy, and Romra nodded their heads in agreement. Dart's suggestions made sense.
I rolled Nature check for everyone, got a surprising number of 22's including characters not trained in Nature, but Darts 24 was the highest so he's the one who notices the pattern first.

Dart looks up, "We need to talk with the elder farmers. They are the most likely to know something about those mountains - even if all they know are superstitions it would give us some idea as to what we are facing going there. But this map has me concerned. The mountain folks are going to a great deal of trouble to remain unseen."

Sorry for not posting much, my house kinda sorta caught on fire and isn't exactly livale, and all my computers got either shot by the firehose or were inside the flame so... yeah Sorry Romra will say "It might be better if someone who knew how to follow the land and stay hidden scout one of the paths, or if a few can do it perhaps some of the paths. But i doubt taking to the farmers will yield much, this is a recent occurance, these maps might not even be for this area." He will take the map an examine it to see if he can tell if the landmarks match up with what is anywhere nearby.

Take as much time as you need for the fire. I've been through a lot of traumas myself over the years and games in some cases keep you connected or become a problem. Just find someone you trust to talk with as much as you need to and most fire departments will know how to get mental help if you or others in your family need it. Just don't expect it to heal quickly because it may take years.
Dart says, "The map looks accurate to me, some of these land marks I've a already seen. As far as the farmers go - folk tales are a way of life for the elders and elders like to get and keep an audiences attention. As long as we don't turn it into an interrogation and instead encourage them to talk about the mountain we may learn something. After all all boys can't resist climbing a big mountain. My bet is they will know something."

I agree, take as much time as you need to deal with the fire.
To be clear, the group has identified the map to be a map of this area. The flat topped mountain is not labeled as such (none of the landmarks is labeled), but a result of looking at the mile tall mountain that the paths come from and seeing that the top is flat instead of peaked.

Llewelyn steps forwards and says, "I agree with gathering information from the town. However, I will volunteer for the scouting if we need some. I am a bit better at roaming the lands than talking with people."

Dart looks at Llewelyn , "One of the things we should scout for - is what are the mountain people are scouting for? Can you copy the map and then go to each site with a bit of support to figure out what is in an area that the mountain folk seem to be watching?"

Tol does anyone have any parchment or ink? I ask as I look around the group. I can already see the torches and pitch forks when I go to talk to the elders so if the group split I'll opt to blunder around the woods. If for some reason copying the map is thievery since it shows good hand cordination I'll offer to scribe it. by the way, everyone does remember it should probably get towards evening here soon, and the wood and darkness might not be everyone's cup of tea.

It's only mid morning, you still have an hour or two before lunch (big drake barbecue). You were only an hour out of town when you started. Harknail and Llewelyn have been hiking all night, but the rest of you are fresh. Well, Tol would have jet lag, he crossed lots of time zones, which is why he'd think it's close to evening Harknail commented, "There be ink and parchment in town." Harknail then started heading back along the trail. So many had trodden the trail recently that even he could follow it.
