Stria takes a step back, shifting out of the spirits chill aura. She then causes a shaft of brilliant, cold starlight to lance down from above, illuminating the spirit. Atk vs. Fort, Radient damage: (1d20+4=10, 1d6+3+1d6=12)The Dragonborn Specter easily shrugs off the effects of the starlight (miss). Stria then curses Vrak. Map

Popol stands his ground, striking at the remaining Dragonborn Specter with a Lance of Faith. Atk vs. Fort, Radient damage: (1d20+6=24, 1d8+5=6)The lance of light spears though the spirit causing it much pain in the process. Romra will find the distracted Specter easier to hit. With two of his Allies still bloodied, Popol uses his last healing word on Barbatos, counting on Romra to be tough enough to survive. Healing: (1d6+5=9)Barbatos gets surge + 9 HP healed. Barbatos is now at full HP.

Joe I think it may be enemy turn or Romra has yet to go before them. Also I would like to know who is still in this game for i have not seen other other then dart and myself posting, i could be wrong in that and if i am that is a good thing. I would just like to know if we have enough players to continue this online.

Perhaps Romra really is as tough as Popol thought. The beating he has endured has triggered Romra's Longtooth shifting ability. His form becomes even more bestial as he starts to heal from his wounds. Romra then strikes at the spirit with his usual Earth Shield Strike. Atk vs AC, damage: (1d20+9=21, 1d8+5+2=14)He hits easily, his rapier striking though the spirit with great force, but not quite enough force to finish off the spirit. It's getting late, I'll run the monsters turn tomorrow night.

Also I would like to know who is still in this game for i have not seen other other then dart and myself posting, i could be wrong in that and if i am that is a good thing. I would just like to know if we have enough players to continue this online. Only 3 players have stopped posting. In the order they stopped these are Popol, Romra, Stria. Stria might return (I'll ask the player Friday), the others have still been posting when needed. I'll be writing them out of the story at the end of this combat, along with anyone else who wants to drop. I'll try to post faster myself, but work is crazy busy, and my nights and weekends are often filled as well.

As the Dragonborn specter prepares to breath on the party again, Blastishy's construct lashes out at it. It's fist passes though the specter. Although it didn't do much damage, it was enough to dissipate the specter until it can reform. Which will not be anytime soon. 3 points damage against the marked specter at the start of the specters turn. This rounds down to 1 point, but the Specter only had one point left. That was close!Vrak is also punched by the construct, but with no visible result. (1 point damage)With both of her specters dispersed, Vrak decides that discretion is the better part of valor. But before she leaves she does one last Howling breath at those in range (Harknail, Blastishy, Popol, and Stria). Atks vs Will, psychic damage: (1d20+7=20, 1d20+7=10, 1d20+7=16, 1d20+7=20, 2d6+2=11)Blastishy and Popol were able to shrug off the attack on their minds, but both Stria and Harknail were left dazed by the assault (and 11 points damage). Vrak then took one final swing at the dazed paladin that had challenged him. Atks vs Ref, necrotic damage: (1d20+9+2=26, 1d8+2=4)The ghostly sword passed though Harknail, draining a small bit of his life force as it did so (4 points). Vrak then shifted back into the statue she had emerged from. But as she was fading into the statue she said, "We will meet again, show me proof and I will aid you."The battle field was now clear of ghosts, leaving only zombies and skeletons to deal with, mindless undead that didn't know when they had lost. Having lost sight of Dart, Skeleton 4 advances until it can get a clear view of a target. The Skeletons then open fire at Popol, Tol (who has cover from the station), Blastishy's construct, Romra, and Blastishy. Atks vs AC: (1d20+6=15, 1d20+6=19, 1d20+6=26, 1d20+6=16, 1d20+6=20)Tol, Blastishy's construct, and Blastishy were hit (3 points each). Zombie #3 charges the closest opponent. Since Tol and Harknail are equally close, it charges Harknail because of his Divine Sanction. Atks vs AC, Damage: (1d20+6=21, 2d6+2=9)The zombie just barely hits Harknail, but it is a solid hit (Harknail takes 9 damage). Zombie #4 is faced with the same decision. It also charges Harknail because it's easier to get to him. Atks vs AC, Damage: (1d20+6=10, 2d6+2=6)This one Harknail is able to fend off with his sword. Zombie #5 can't reach Harknail, so it attacks Romra instead, a closer target. Doing so triggers Harknail's Divine Sanction, doing 5 points of Divine damage to the zombie. Although now bloodied, it survives to attack Romra. Atks vs AC, Damage: (1d20+6-2=13, 2d6+2=13)But Romra easily deflects the attack. Tag all, it's the players turn (at last)

The Dazed Harknail simply stands his ground and defends himself against the two zombies as he gathers his inner resources (He uses his second wind).

Seeing the spectres dissipated and Harknail hard pressed, and encouraged by the healing magic flowing through him, Barbatos floated out from the cover of the rock seeking to drive the undead back with waves of magical thunder.

Once again Barbatos destroys an undamaged Zombie (#4) with a single shot. The other Zombie (#3) is bloodied and pushed away by the thunder.
Harknail's Divine Sanction ends, the remaining 2 Zombies can attack anyone without penalty.

Joe at this point I feel the same way. i also feel we don't have enough active players involved and not enough people do regular postings. I feel that needs to happen for this game to work. I understand we work and things get in the way, but if they do posting a 3-4 days later is fine, but not posting for weeks on end just slows game for everyone. and i know you have a lot to do GMing all the moves and you have work so you can't post all the time. yet this combat alone has lasted months for lack of characters moving. If you ever do try and start up another online game please let me know. I think if you do make another one, you need to make a policy that you have X amount of time before the GM has to do a move for you to keep game rolling. If say you can't post monsters movements just say so like you have in the past. the players should look at it and see if you did in a day or 2. so the players turn will not start until you say ok, player x,y,z... turn, like you have in this game. just trying to give constructive things i saw so that next game runs a bit faster.

The fight against the remaining two bloodied Zombies and 5 remaining Skeleton minions was quickly resolved. Without Vrak around to give them orders the mindless undead were easy controlled to attack those willing to take some attacks and were quickly dispatched.
After the battle was over and the wounds tended, there was some discussion of where to go next. Several interesting spots were suggested, mostly sections of buildings that seemed more or less intact. When a single destination couldn't be selected, the partly split to cover the area faster.
A time limit is a good idea. I've seen this work well in the past. Considering peoples workloads (including mine), I think a one week turn will work best. Even with a busy week, everyone should have some point during the week when they can check on the game and post (even if it's nothing more than you're character is watching what's going on). The hard part will be for me to keep up, but now that I'm running fewer face to face games, and work is finally looking like it's under control, I think I can keep it going. And at a minimum I can post when there are problems.
Harknail is one one group, along with anyone who wishes to continue playing. Everyone else is in the other group. So who wants to be in Harknail's group? Since this is the first turn with a time limit, I'll allow a little extra time. Besides, setting up new battles takes a while.
Please post if you'd like to continue playing with a somewhat faster game. If I haven't heard from you by Saturday, May 19 (about a week and a half), I'll put your character in the other group and continue without you.

Please post if you'd like to continue playing with a somewhat faster game. I have no problem posting a couple of times a week - if you can rally together enough players to keep it going then i'm in.
If we can get preferably at least two other players I can ressurect the shadow over the steadlands game, punt it forwards a little in the plot and get a dungeon crawl going - just to help keep things ticking over

Could you start a thread to sign up for you game and post it here? Just so we have some place to say we're interested in a 3.5 game. I can also forward it to the face-to-face gaming club to see if anyone there is interested.

While i've plenty of free time to post i've not found my writing style to be the most successful as a play by post DM - so hints welcome Harknail do you want to bump Vadania up to 2nd level or start fresh?

at: i find your posts to be just fine, i like to add in descriptions of what my powers look like, and put in face or tone expressions of my character. yet i find the way you post just fine. At least you are keeping up with game and posting, that is way more important.

Joe if you do get more people to play and commit to game, i will be willing to still play. I do think that as much as i like this character that i feel i should make a different one. I would like to be a cleric if at all possible, dragonborn cleric is what i was thinking.

No problem. Apparently some other heroes wandered into Elkridge after the initial group and left, and followed them up to the top of Morningfall summit.

Sorry for lateness, I spoke with you earlier about it but completely forgot to post to let others know that I'd be fine with continuing. And I would post more often. Setting an alarm to remind to check the forums so that I don't let a large time go by without checking.
