Vadania was surprised, she had been expecting another notice, not to be singled out. The Captain must have been really happy with what she and her friends had accomplished last time they were hired.
Vadania responded to the guard, "Of course. Does he want to see me right now? Do you mind if my new friends tag along?"
Assuming that the meeting was to be right away, Vadania started to rise and called Ylva to her side.

Ka'lion also stands and very carefully keeps an eye on the wolf.

"Friends?" the guard glances at Ka'lion and then down to Ylva, "ah yes, probably for the best."
The guards wait a moment for Vadania to collect her belongings before heading out into the rain.

I know Ka'lion is carrying a small fortune. Most of his money is in the form of platinum pieces. He just doesn't spend money. He's saving to buy a continent - he figures it will take a few thousand lifetimes. No matter. So far the only things he bought was a backpack, sling rocks, camping gear, a dagger and that is it. All of the rest of the coin is still coin or small gemstones to keep the weight to a manageable level. He uses a sling and a staff and anything he finds laying around.

That's entirely your choice, however you still need to mark it on your character page as it may become relevant to know whether he is lugging around a 50lb sack of coin or a ruby the size of his fist stuffed into his shorts.

After hearing they were not looking to arrest him, he sits up and smiles at the two guards. "lovey weather we are having, would ether of you boys like a drink?"

"Would you like to come with us to see Captain Rills?" asked Vadania of the mysterious gnome. "He might have another job for me, and if he does I could use the help."

Ka'lion was built as a second level barbarian - they should have wealth comparisons page 54 DMG 3.5 1,800 gp for everything. In the game status thread the GM said: You may also possess up to 900gp worth of magical, masterwork, or otherwise uncommon equipment. Any cash not spent may be retained in the form of coins, jewels, and other items of value. I guess we're in a poor area so we don't start with as much as usual. Which makes sense given the setting.

and are DM said we only get 900, so to hell what the book says. I feel we should go with what are DM said for he is the dm not you. David i am sry but this is a bit petty. when the dm makes a call he makes a call and we should go by it, if he says it is 900 then just let it be. Now if he made such an outlandish call like you die no save for no reason then yes i would say we have the right to call him on it, right now you have little reason to do so. I am just being honest in what i am seeing right now. as i see it as of right now i think you are being unfair to are dm.

OOC: Referring to the book that David cited, 1st level characters are assumed to amass 900 gold by the time you level up, and 2nd level character amass 1800 gold between 2nd and 3rd level. Assuming we've just hit 1,000 exp, 900 gold should sufficient compensation for the treasure we missed out on by spiking 1st level. Since were playing level 2 to 3, we should have an opportunity to get 1800 in game. Simply put, I think 900 gold is correct, were not in a poor area or anything, the gold listed in the table is what you earn by the end of that level. It's why you roll starting gold instead of having 900 out the door at 1st level.
OOC: P.S. Hello everyone! I just joined up

I was not being petty, Joe had said we'd be third level characters and I build Ka'lion based on what Joe had said. Because it sounded to me as if the GM had not yet decided. That said 750 ruby is fine. The rest of the gear doesn't cost much.

To prevent the game thread from getting too cluttered i've created an OOG character discussion thread :kmansadventures.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=char&thread=8723The guards escort the group towards the town's central guard house, a number of the men within acknowledging Vadania's return with a nod of the head. The guard captain himself stands outside his room watching you approach and waving you through before making a fresh survey of the streets beyond, clearly expecting other visitors. The room itself is thick with pipe smoke though only a single other occupant stands within - a young human man with striking features who pointedly ignores the group as they enter, adjusting a particularly expensive looking crossbow. The captain circles his desk, eyeing the new faces without comment. Unrolling a map on his table he looks towards Vadania and asks, "what do you know of Ansitif?"

Ka'lion just watches everyone in the room. He figures more people had been in the room before the party arrived and he personally wants to get out quickly. He glances at the map and moves to the side of the table so he can see both the druid and the captain. He reads the map quickly committing it to memory. survival[dice=20]+4[rand=3638700153678655660744597925804562092651820275932624179699341766536]

Vadania concentrates for a moment as she searches her memory for the unfamiliar name. But she can't dredge up any memories of it either from her mentor or her parents. Shaking her head, Vadania replies, "I've never heard that name before."

An audible locking sound cuts off Vadania as the human in the corner finishes loading his crossbow.
"Long ago, before it flooded into swamps, a terrible demon stalked this land. Many died at the hands of this beast before it was eventually sealed away in one of the many mausoleums build to house its victims."
He places his now loaded crossbow in a belt hostler.
"As time pasted, and the legend of the man slayer grew, the people of this region came to refer to the demon by a common name...."
The man turns to the party, reveling a pair of pricing, red, slightly silted eyes.
"Ansitif"
