Your offering us a job - right? So what is the job? Ka'lion doesn't like enclosed places - especially with a loaded crossbow and a demon in the room with him. Say the wrong thing here and we are all dead.

"While the magic binding Ansitif is indeed formidable, it is not necessarily impervious to the corrosive grasp of time. Bandits are want to hide in the mausoleums, and there is always the possibility that one might naively stumble upon something they don't understand. Certain cults have also been known to actively try to unseal the demon."
The mysterious young man looks at the captain and the guard with a coy smile.
"The possibility of something coming undone has can ware on a man's nerves. Seems to have certain local interests jumping at shadows in the mist."
Turning to Ka'lion
"They've hired me to investigate the old crypts and determine if the magic seals are intact, for I am a natural born sorcerer and mastery of the arcane comes as effortlessly to me as flight to a bird. I am no common mercenary, so I requested an escort. I assume that is why you are all gathered here."

"You'll be paid of course, a good wage", the captain places a small wooden box on the table, opening it to reveal a mix of coins and small stones - perhaps a hundred gold or so all said. Not a small sum of money, but looking at the markings on the map not a small job either.
"I've spoken with the priests at the spring temple, they'll give you a discount if you'll take the job. They had their own man - Aelos, but he's gone missing."

"I'll do it," said Vadania. "I don't like the idea of something like that loose near where I live. I've lived out in the wilds here for 40 years, so I can help you get around."

Perhaps the mysterious gnome will share his name with his companions at some point.

"I have no interest in the coins. I want a large cask of Clearwater. I work for a monks monastery and they asked me to locate some flasks. Flasks just doesn't seem worth my time." said Ka'lion, "So we are escorts, guards or guilds. I have no skill in the personal services escorts are known for. The rest of it I think I can manage."

Turning to Ka'lion " Then i will be more then happy to take the coin your not interested in, for i can put it to good use."
Turning to the captain, "If i am to do this for you then i want on paper for the guards to stop harassing me for information and always taking me in for questioning of things i had no part in, or knowledge of. I am not the enemy and i am tired of being treated as such."

"Personal services? What monastery is this?", the captain pushes the map in Ka'lion's direction - the monastery is clearly marked with a red sigil, along with numerous other locations. Clearwater and Deviln’s Hollow are both marked by name but Burr town is absent, other than a red mark bear where it should be.
Vadania notes that it is not the same map that she saw during her prior visit, it seems much older and lacks the marking indicating trading routes and hazards.
Nillfree senses the man has other things on his mind, though prospects of other shadow creatures clearly concern him. He has the look of a man hoping to get at least one problem off his shoulders, if only for a while. He seems equal parts puzzled and irritated by the gnome's request, but fishes out a handful of papers from a shelf nearby - warrants of payment, Nillfree had seen as much in the hands of mercenaries and bounty hunters, and aspiring forgers.

"They can pay me in small gems if they need to." Ka'lion looks at the abandoned monastery in red, "This is the monastery I live near. A few retired monks live off the land and are trying to restore the place. They have agreed to train me once a few issues between us can be worked out. I think they want the clearwater to restore the well. The waters bad and needs to be boiled before it can be used safely."

after he signs the papers, Nillfree will then turn to the group. " for thouse of you who don't know my name I am Nillfree. I may not be very good in a fight but i am far more useful being used in diplomacy. It is common miss conception that halflings and gnomes know a lot about triggers and traps. I am an information gatherer, so my knowledge of them is limited, yet i will do my best to prevent them going off, but no promises. This captain has agreed to what i have asked. As long as he keeps his end of this i will keep mine. with that said we best head off and find the missing Aelos first. He may be of help and have information we could use."

"It is no misconception little brother. Little folks hands can fit into small holes better then large hands do. Gathering information is safer then testing and triggering traps. I think gathering information may prove more useful if the demon has got out of their prison. But it is more likely that we are going to need someone skilled in activating and deactivating traps to begin with. If you don't want to get hurt - you don't you want to get hurt. So how much are we being paid?" asked Ka'lion

"I was beginning to wonder if you would ever tell us your name," said Vadania to the gnome. She can't make sense of what Ka'lion so she just smiles and listens to him babble on.

The guard captain shakes his head and turns to red eyed man, "you have your escort Maester Belomme". He hands over a wooden scroll case and a silver coin on a chain, the latter bearing the mark of the temple of clearwater. "You'd best be going afore the weather worsens, start with the mausoleums near the south west trail where the creature was sighted."
Navarre glances at the coin - a mark of service to the temple here. Even with it he knew that the priests would not be hurried and weighed the value of the magic they might sell him against a few extra hours of daylight. Either way they would not reach the mausoleum tonight.

"Let's go." said Ka'lion heading outside and holding the door open for the others. Ka'lion is wondering if they should get some additional assistance. He's no match for a demon and the sorcerer is dangerously over confident - or so powerful that he'd be a fool to get mad at him. With his rage issues. He just might not survive even being hired as a guard. Ka'lion says nothing about his concerns. But he would prefer additional assistance.

Bluff of +9[dice=20]
OOC I'm not one to tell you what your character thinks of mine, but his bluff check result was 25 for that last segment, so assuming he's truly as powerful as he makes himself out to be is reasonable.
"Very well. I believe it was Vadania, why don't you take point, since you know this area so well."
Navarre hands the druid the map before walking out the door. He returns a short while later with a pack mule in tow carrying various supplies.
"Do you need to gather supplies first, or can we head out now?" [rand=7733619420323521541108823847025673974411911331126130171564873308]

Vadania studies the map while waiting for Maester Belomme to return, then packs it away so that it isn't damaged by the rain. In response to his question she answers, "I don't know about them, but I have all I need to return to the wilds." She waits for Ka'lion and Nillfree to say if they need supplies or not.

Vadania studies the map while waiting for Maester Belomme to return, then packs it away so that it isn't damaged by the rain. The scroll case is close to two feet long and appears relatively new, as does the map inside. The map is wrapped around an iron bar with a shaped head - a key perhaps. The case itself is coated in leather and sealed by a simple buckle, though it appears waterproof. A loop of leather atop the lid may be used to hang the case from a strap or belt, or it may be carried within a pack. Vadania estimates that the group will not reach the first location tonight.

Vadania estimates that the group will not reach the first location tonight. If we waited till morning, could we reach the first location in a day's travel?
