I missed that that we can't continue moving forward. Is the tunnel blocked somehow? Something to do with that wave of frost?

I missed that that we can't continue moving forward. Is the tunnel blocked somehow? Something to do with that wave of frost? You can move forward just fine - but only single file. Ylva and Ka'lion could squeeze past in wolf form if they had to.

"What a minute. I'm going to try to convert the book into a backpack so Aelos doesn't need to be holding a torch." said Ka'lion pulling out some rope and making a net to hold the book on Aelos back. Roll: rope use. +1+roll[dice=20]4.1

Vadania and Aelos look on in shock as Ka'lion kneels down in the corridor scant yards from the shadow creature and pulls rope from his pack, starting to weave it together to create a basic netting. The shadow needs no more encouragement and the barbarian has barely started before he feels an icy cold blow - the shouted warnings of his companions enough that he looks up and avoids having his eyes torn out by the creatures dark talons (8 damage)At this distance it doesn't seem nearly as large but its blow staggers the barbarian backwards, a lingering coldness spreading from the injury - not of poison but something more sinister. As all this occurs Vadania spins, hearing a noise behind her. But the corridor is empty. Ylva too can sense something flanking the group but cannot easily reach it. Will - it's not a shadow. A shodow cant hurt anything in the light. Ka'lion grabs both hammer and ax leaving the glowing book at his feet filling the area with light.

Remember, Ka'lion doesn't know anything about shadows.
"There's something in front of us as well," warned Vadania. "Aelos, trade places with Ylva and heal Ka'lion. Ka'lion, pay attention to the shadow, it's playing with us and will attack again the moment you look away. Aelos, back him up however you can. I and Ylva will watch the other direction. But watch out for the shadow going through the wall to attack us in the middle."

The Gm noted the Ka'lion heard of shadows but didn't know much about them. He saw what hit him. It's solid. Shadows are not. Shadows and ghosts have that in common. But with the book out we can see pretty well. And Ka'lion saw what hit him. Ka'lion calls on the power of the hammer and ax and on the scarab actively thinking about actavating them. He doesn't know if that is required but it reassures him some to know they are there.

Ka'lion doesn't know what it is, but up close it appears semi-solid, not a living shadow so much as a creature of ooze and darkness.
(Ka'lion needs an init roll and action)

Ka'lion lunges at the shadow creature but it evades his attack as the barbarian is still off balance from the earlier strike and his hurried efforts to recover his weapons and pass one back towards Aelos.
Behind him Ylva and the priest squeeze past one another in the tight corridor while Vadania watches for more threats.

Vadania has her wooden sword out and is ready for anything attacking from her direction. She can't help Ka'lion in this tight corridor, so the best she can do is guard the rear.
Prepare attack on anything that approaches from that direction and gets within melee range.
I'm surprised that Ka'lion took the time to hand off the heavier of the magic weapons to someone who isn't proficient with it and can only hold it, while Ka'lion fights with the lighter, less damaging, weapon. safari

The shadow creature again strikes at Ka'lion but this time he evades the blow - the attack seemed half hearted and the shadow backs away four or five feet after striking as if daring Ka'lion to follow.
Vadania can still sense something behind them, perhaps another shadow or the imp waiting for a chance to strike, but it remains concealed from sight.

Ka'lion felt being city raised Aelos would prefer a city type of magic weapon under the cercomestances to being unarmed and a light missile weapon to being unable to fight. Pass him your bow. You can't use it right now. It's a hand hammer ( a 2 pound weapon) not a battle hammer Ka'lion would use that. He gave Aelos the second weapon so he didn't need to summon another magic hammer. He had assumed Aelos could use it. He's wrong, Aelos will be more acurate however with it then Ka'lion would be fighting two weapon style. At least at this time.
So Ka'lion really can only use one weapon at a time. Without any more rages today the best damage Ka'lion can do is a d6+1 str and +1 at least from magic. The hammer does a d4 plus modifiers. Ka'lion holds his postion in fighting defensively. I think he has dodge, if so he'll apply it to this creature. He's not leaving the book or party. He could get away. But they can't.
When the creature moves back into range Ka'lion will take an attack of opertunity and his swing. When the creature moves back into range Ka'lion will take an attack of opertunity and his swing. (quick note - you don't get AoOs for opponents charging you, nor do you get any for creatures making 5ft steps)

You can't take a 5ft step into combat and then take a five foot step away from combat. That's two movement actions. As far as the attack of opportunity. My roll stinks but it stands. The monster is coming to me. It's tasted blood. I just need to stay alive long enough to get better rolls. I do need to know does it have any back up? I'm thinking about trying to grapple it but I need more information. That way Aelos and the wolf can run over Ka'lions back and surround the creature.

The hammer is described as "a bulky gold and iron warhammer", it is NOT a light throwing hammer! And it would do more damage than a hand axe.
You could prepare an attack for when the shadow gets back into melee range, your attack would go before it's attack in that case.safari

The shadow creature slowly creeps backwards away from the group, adding a few more feet to the distance between them. It's echoing laughter continues and Ka'lion wonders if it's intent was to taunt them or conceal the sound of others - this was a poor place to be trapped should the imp return.

With the withdrawal of the shadow, Vadania tries to the group moving again. "Aelos, give Ka'lion his hammer back and help him gather the stuff he dropped. Ka'lion, keep an eye out for that shadow. If your attention wanders it will strike again."
Once the group was ready to move again, Vadania says, "I don't mind being between an imp and a shadow. Let's get moving again and try to get to someplace wider than this tunnel. Ka'lion, watch your back. The shadow will be looking for an opening to strike again."safari
