I bet he says bait and running. I do agree we do that well, when it works. but i call not it and we need back up plan, first question how do we keep them in? a cage means nothing if it can't keep things in it for excaping.

Vadania doesn't at all like Ka'lion's idea of caging the cats and then leaving them to starve.

Melwyn lights his pipe and leans up against a tree nearby while the party argue, peering back towards his hut.
At Ka'lions suggestion that he assist them fighting goblins and bears he shakes his head and replies, "I don't think so, but I can offer you an exchange other than coin. A magical horse that will serve you without fail for 12 hours of each day, should it fall or be maimed it will be restored at dawn, and of course a saddle is provided"
Inside the argument rages on, Garrot gathers that this is a rather longstanding feud with both sisters claiming the short end of the stick - he catches the name of the other girl, Xana, and that she is Lynettes half sister and accuses her of being their fathers favourite while Lynette accuses her back of always taking everything she wants.
The hut itself seems quite well lived in and comfortable, but also very messy as handfuls of things have been piled up in the corners and on shelves and tables including wands, scrolls, potions, and gemstones.

"A stone horse? I don't know. As far as starving the cats. That's a good way to get someone killed. I think the only reason the cat's didn't kill me was they where already full." said Ka'lion, "I think Melwyn should hire the cats to protect his place personally. They can hunt pests that attack his gardens and let him know if hostile ibaxian or dangerous aggressors are in the area. We already know they know the value of coins to humans. They tried to use coins to lead us ito an ambush. All that would be required would be a few permanent tongues spells and comprehend languages spells and a bit of luck. It's what my grandmother would do. The cat's could use a friend and when they die of natural causes the wizard can keep their remains. I'd be very surprised if the displacer beasts have barial customs."

Vadania comments, "I'm still waiting to hear a plan. As in something we have the resources to do. As wary as those cats are, I don't think we can even come close to them. And if we try anything at range, they'll flee further."
I guess it's my turn to be pessimistic :-)

" its one of our plans so it will be simple. ( ya right ) It's a stand off with a talk to get both sides to lay down arms and come to an agreement to help eachother. wizard casts comprehend language umong other things to comunicate with them. He alone does the talking for us, but with spells on us so we could understand them. he talks with them see what they want and what tearms are. They come to an understaning and a way to bind the contract how ever he/they sees fit. Then we make good on our end, if they turn on us by diseption or attack at any point. we go option b. option b is fight like hell or run like hell. Them refusning to talk or agree is not a hostile act we then leave in peace, then we come back here for option c. Our job is show up, look calm and protect the wizard if need be. all in all a simple task from what we are us to."

"If the wizard wants an escort while he tries talking to the cats, we can do that," agreed Vadania. "The cats won't attack as long as we're around. But if they don't keep their word, we can't protect the Wizard after we leave. Still, it's up to Melwyn if he wants to try talking to the Displacer beats before we leave."

"Life has no magic without taking risks. If it works he gains quite a bit. He could always create callers for them so people know they are here by invitation perhaps with a hold monster spell or a curse that is activated if the cats break their word. But he has everything to gain if it works out." said Ka'lion

Melwyn scoffs at Ka'lions suggestion, "you don't know nearly as much about these creatures as you claim, the displacer beasts of old were crafted for only one purpose - assassination. They are killers through and through and would be dangerous even to one who did have the means to hand to compel them, which I do not."
He shakes his head, "no matter, unless they have learnt to pick locks they will not reach us here and may be dealt with at leisure. Now tell me why you sought me out if not for trade?"

"They can pick the lock on the gate. It's not locked. It's tied closed with a rope and the rope had signs that they where trying to get in. Our captain wanted a quick exit." say's Ka'lion

"Damn it!", Melwyn starts immediately back towards his hut looking around into the darkness for any sign of the creatures.
The girls spat is just getting interesting as Melwyn bursts in past Garrot and begins fishing through his piled up possessions, glancing over at Xana as he does, "they left the damn gate unlocked"

Garrot comes back to the group and says "Perhaps Mr. wizard man here has a scroll or a spell that would put the kitty cats to sleep, or perhaps tie them up?" He then thinks a bit and says "Want me to go back and lock the gate?"

"Are you done talking to Melwyn?" asked Vadania of Ka'lion. "If so, we can all leave and lock the gate behind us."
To Melwyn she added, "We didn't lock the gate, but we did tie it closed with rope so that the displacer beasts couldn't follow us. We'll lock the gate when we leave."

"He can't help us. And dealing with the cat's well keep him busy for a while. Of course if he wishes to leave with us. I have no objections to it." said Ka'lion
