Garrot scratches his chin and asks the Bard "What news of the siege, and the goblins besieging the place?"

The bard seems confused by the question, "goblins, friend you have had too much to drink"
(news of the siege on the monastery has not reached the populace here)

"I and this town owe you a debt of gratitude for your actions, but this book is not yours - it is a legacy of those who went before left to protect the lives of their descendent"He hands the book out, "you do not own this book, you are it's custodian and you are responsible for both it and the thousands of lives it may save. I trust that you will fulfil this responsibility or surrender it to one who will"Once Ka'lion has left the room he rises unsteadily from his bed, turning to Vadania and George, "I will not allow one mans greed and hubris to condemn this land to darkness. I give your friend this opportunity to prove my fears about him wrong, and you this time to bring him understanding. But if he shirks his duty then I shall pursue him unto the ends of this world." Vadania answers, " He is even more paranoid than I am, seeing dangers where there are none and seeing dangers that do exist as much larger than they are. His first response to an attack is to run, but then when the rest of us don't run he comes back. Still he has saved my life several times. I best gather the others and go after him. I think we'll be going to rescue those who are under siege by goblins." OOC: OK, now Ka'lion is acting even crazier than usual!. Writing love letters to himself from someone else? We can talk in person tonight.

GM: you should reread my last post. I was rewriting it to respond to your stranger meets Ka'lion post. To keep the timeline going. I type less then 8 worlds a minute and you are overious a faster writer then I am. The only reason Ka'lion would be forced to flee is if the party turns on him. So far that is not what has occurred.
GM: did you want to contenue the stranger and Ka'lions chat or for him to get to the hill and to write his letter?
Once Ka’lion has gotten to the hill, he writes a love letter from Elben. It says the following.
Dearest Ka’lion,
Ever sense we first met. I have been unable to think of anything but you. My heart is a fire and my passions for you run deep.
Unfinished Ka’lion put’s the beginning of Ebens letter into his book for safe keeping. And Ka’lion keep very careful watch for the rest of the party and the evil priests spies that he would be sending.
OOC: Ka'lion's not the list bit crazy Joe. He see's the book as a useful tool to give others a clue as to what they can do to fight back. His intention is to provoke hope. Not to destroy the book or to go rogue with it but he does intend to make copies of it's pages for others to find in the form of tracings as it's no longer safe for him to be askings questions about it.

The man looks at Ka'lion with a mix of amusement and haughty derision, not breaking his strike as he walks past towards the town. GM: you should reread my last post. I was rewriting it to respond to your stranger meets Ka'lion post. ok, I had been under the impression that "Ka'lion waste’s no further time leaving" meant that Ka'lion wasted no further time in leaving (he can easily outrun the party at this point).
If you are hanging around for them then Vadania and George (and perhaps Garrot) will show up soon enough looking for you

As Ka'lion has chosen to flee with the book it appears that the adventure will be jumping ahead. Without the book to guide prospective heroes the demons and their allies are always one step ahead, the imprisoned brothers are freed, and the land plunges further into darkness. Head over to the character advancement and level 5 kmansadventures.proboards.com/thread/8813/character-advancement-thread He's giving us an hour to go after him, Vadania is planning on doing just that! So don't let the halfling spend too much time in the bar, Vadania is coming to collect him!

After finishing with Eldon, Vadania will collect George and go collect Garrot. "Ka'lion's decided to head out of town now instead of preparing for a trip. We need to go chase after him." If there's anyone in the tavern who's interested in a life in saving the world for little to no pay, Vadania will take him/her along as well. Ka'lion hasn't left her any time to be picking about reinforcements.

Ka'lion's expecting for the priest to attack him. The question is when. Not if.

Ka'lion's expecting for the priest to attack him. The question is when. Not if. And Vadania sees the priest as an ally who would only attack us if he must to save the world. The book is the key to saving the world, and Ka'lion keeps threatening to disappear with it. As long as we're working towards saving the world, Eldon and his entire order would be our staunchest allies.

Ka'lion is trying to help but to do that; he needs to get that priest mad and that's what's he's going to do. Ka'lion take's he letter to himself on the back of it. He scrubs a tracing of the first page of the book. He rolls it up hangs it on a nearby tree branch that says deliver to Elden. Your letters of affection are not welcome.

Well Ka'lion should be able to convince Eldon that Ka'lion is crazy. Still can't figure out why Ka'lion wants to be attacked by allies. It's not as if we didn't have enough enemies to fight.
Waiting for confirmation that Vadania has collected everyone and to find out if we have a new NPC.

Waiting for confirmation that Vadania has collected everyone and to find out if we have a new NPC. Vadania has collected everyone, but no new NPC as of yet.
The eyes of one of the women with Garrot light up at the suggestion of saving the world, though Vadania is unsure what use a barmaid would be. On her way out of the tavern she'll also run into the man that passed Ka'lion - a mercenary by the looks of him busy tending to a hawk with a saddle at his side but no horse.Altar takes his leave of the group as they depart Eldon's room stating that he has something to attend to. Vadania quickly gathers up the others an finds Ka'lion near the edge of the town, clearly intending to make off with the book.

Vadania addresses Ka'lion, "Well your threat worked, you have us all out of town without having prepared for the trip. And you've antagonized our best allies in the fight against the Demon. Shall we be going?" She clearly is not pleased with Ka'lion's recent actions.

As Ka'lion considers Vadanias words he spots in the distance another familiar figure - Altar slowly walking through Burr Town in their direction carrying what appears to be rolls of paper or scrolls under one arm.

"I think we should wait for Altor to catch up don't you? I don't like Altor much and I'd rather have a wizard with us or a monk but my bet is Altor's going to come with us so he can makes copies of the book. I'll let him do that much. But when I'm done Elben is going to be spitting nails mad at me and that's what the old lion need's right now. You heard him. He said he was to old! People are looking to him for leadership and he's already given up! So I'm going to get him so mad at me! So mad that a demon is going to look a piglet in comparison! Besides we need him to be chasing us to hell and back as well. Bard's will hear about it and they tell everyone else. With Elben's love letter's written to me on the back of tracings from the book. A legendary love story will get into everyone's heads and they'll talk about it! Most of the tracing will be found our allies, the demon's servants and the bards will start to actively look for them. Bard's love romance almost more then they love to play!
Why do it?
I have fine good reasons!
One' Hope is what the public need's right now! They need to be reminded that the demon's have been defeated before! When your as traumatized as many people are right now. Any hope is better then none!
Two' We need to be visibly pursued. It will keep us on our toes and start to draw attention away from fearing the demon's. That means two things the demon's minions will be looking for us so we can stop attacking them on their terms and we can start to fight them on ours.
Three' it means that the demons are going to start to attack us personally and not surrounded with their armies because I intend to keep us moving quickly. If my plain works and it's got a good chance of doing so the early attacks by the demons should be alone and if they are dead the rest of the demon's numbers should fewer and fewer is the goal here.
So it's time to do some good and to put the fire in the old priest heart and we are going to take our time because the best way to stop the demon is to stop them for good."

With a puzzled look Vadania asks, "What love letters from Eldon?"
Then she shakes her head and says, "Never mind. I agree letting Altair make a copy of a book is a good idea. I'd feel better knowing that there's more than one copy so that if one gets lost the demon can still be fought."
"Ok, so you want to inspire hope in people, that's good. You want us to be pursued, that's bad. That means we can never stop long enough to rest and recover. I don't know about you, but I'm feeling much better after taking a day just to rest! And I'd much rather the fights be the ones we pick, fighting on our terms rather than having pursuers ambushing us everywhere we go. And you want to be attacked directly by the demon, that's bad. Do you think we're ready to fight a demon? I don't. I want to gather more tools to use in that fight first."
"What I want to do is pick our targets, attacking where we can make a difference, and being well prepared for each fight. Then disappear back into the fell to attack somewhere else, so the demons never know where we're going to be next. Oh, and I want to kill that wizard that slew most of a village. Even if he's not connected with the demon."

Garrot (who was having a fine time in the Tavern) listens to Ka'Alion's speech, and looks around. He shakes his head and simply says "I either have no clue of what the plan is, or that book has driven one of us insane. He turns around and goes to wait for Altar to catch up."

"We are not going to get much rest. But at this point we are just a pin prick. I wanted to avenge the village! But the rest of the party couldn't keep up and we don't know where the wizard is. That's a fact.
As far as the goblins - I want to rain into the goblin's as many arrows as we can and then runaway and then do it again until the survivors from the villagers do as well. Given enough time. We should be able to thin their numbers down at minimum risk to us. An angry bear is just as likely to attack their riders as to chase us. And that's the plain." said Ka'lion beginning to count his arrows and thinking about the numbers of bears and goblins the party has already seen. "We may need more arrows."

Vadania answered, "It took me a while to realize it, but we may have run across his train again."
She continued, "As for the goblins, if we're close enough to rain arrows on the main group, then we're too close. But if we can catch small detached groups, we can wipe them out to the last goblin, leaving the others to wonder what's happening. I'm sure having scouting parties disappear without a trace would bother the leaders considerably. Like I said, I want to pick our battles, and deliberately setting things up so we have to run for our lives isn't my idea of a good plan."

The main group of golbin's can be stopped with a few carefully placed entangle spells and plenty of arrows once the bears are dead." said Ka'lion
