Vadania will try stomping out the fire inside, being careful not to stomp on Lynette's fingers.

Garrot feels the construct rock as the bear on top jumps down and runs back towards the trees followed by it's companion. The armour on the device held firm but no doubt by now word of this threat was quickly making it's way to their destination.
As the fire is dealt with Garrot continues the advance, mindful that the open hatch to let the smoke escape was a potential risk. Their destination soom comes into view however - a stone and iron wall surrounding the mausoleum. The barred gateway has already been forced open and looks wide enough for the construct.

"Ok, lets go in," said Vadania. She kept close watch for ambushes waiting for them inside.

Passing through the entrance into the graveyard surrounding the mausoleum Garrot can see goblins scattering behind gravestones and circling around the construct. Of more concern however are the priestesses - dressed and armed as those from the camp but with eyes that burn red visibly even at this distance.
They spread out preparing to attack from all directions and Garrot warns the others.

"Head for the mausoleum," directs Vadania. "Feel free to claw any goblins in front of you." Meanwhile she tries putting an arrow in one of the priestesses. Attack: zMAchjLSp_1-20+9=24 Damage: p_1-8+1=7 Nice rolls 1-201-8

The arrow wounds but does not kill the woman as she crouches behind the gravestone. Vadania will need to be cautious as many are armed with bows - perhaps the same archers who fired on them earlier.

Garrot will maneuver the device towards the goblins, and attempt to claw any in his way, making wide arcing swipes with them, at least in hopes of keeping them off and possibly knocking some down. 1-20

Garrot can see goblins running in, this time with ropes though none seem to want to be first to try their luck against the metal monster.
Above arrows rain down on Vadania though only one finds a home against her armour (5 damage). Lynette shouts up to her "I think they are going to try and climb inside, watch out!"

Vadania reiterates, "We need to get out of the open or they'll overwhelm us." She takes another shot at the priestess, then ducks to avoid the return salvo.

A second arrow is enough to put the woman down for good, Vadania's arrows accurately avoiding her armour.

Garrot will move the device away from the trees and approaching goblins and attempt to get back out into the open. He will then face the goblins and try and keep his claws between them and the device.

Garrot tries to fend the goblins off but they seem bolder here, perhaps fearful of the priestesses or perhaps emboldened by magic. A few throw crudely fashioned ropes onto the construct while others either try to climb without or goad their more reckless companions on from a safe distance. Among those staying back Garrot can see a particularly fat fetish-wearing goblin who appears to be shouting orders - he can't quite make out what from within the construct.
Up above Vadania avoids the worst of the arrows but as she looks around for new targets a sphere of shadowy darkness appears closer to the mausoleum and flies towards the construct, engulfing it entirely.
[Tag all - the construct is engulfed in darkness that makes it difficult but not impossible to see beyond, and conceals the goblins quite effectively as they swarm]

I am not sure this device is helping us Harknail. I suppose I could try and build up some momentum and run over a few, perhaps head towards that shaman-type goblin. What are your thoughts?

I am not sure this device is helping us Harknail. (it's lack of offensive capabilities is deliberate on my part - it's transportation, shelter, and a source of the occasional adventure but it wouldn't be much of a game if your characters could just wander the land smashing things with it's claws. The main use for it was a safe place to stash your stuff as you adventured )

It's still a fun magic item to have, and the extra room is probably more valuable in the long run. I agree the item as listed would make things too easy at our level. I'm assuming the Full round per lever pull still applies, which is why Lynette needs to help operate it.Vadania ducked back inside and said, " Lynette, close the hatch. Garrot, make for the mausoleum itself before they figure out how to stop us. Lynette, use the claws on any goblin that gets in our way. Everyone, prepare to climb out into a fight." What does the entrance of the mausoleum itself look like? Is it open or closed? Would the device fit inside or are we going to have to park it outside? And is there anyway we can lock the device when we leave it so that goblins can't steal it (I don't think Garrot would like that)?

Lynette pulls on a lever and the hatch slams shut. Above the group can hear scrabbling and banging as the goblins attempt to figure out how the hatch works and Lynette reaches up and pulls down against the hatch itself with all of her weight to try and prevent them from pulling it open. Garrot can see the mausoleum building ahead, just a short distance away, and lumbers towards it. In the room behind the archers prepare to follow the group out knowing they will likely be surrounded and fighting just to clear the entrance. What does the entrance of the mausoleum itself look like? Is it open or closed? Open, but only wide enough for a man and given the relatively small size of the building above ground it likely leads directly to a staircase or slope to an underground mausoleum.

Have we found any way to lock it from the outside? I'm guessing no, so the goblins might get our marvelous machine... Vadania says, " OK, get the hatch as close as you can to the doorway. We'll have to climb out and enter using the device as a shield. Once inside the goblins can only come at us a few at a time."
