Looking in the direction of the fleeing archer, "it would seem that we have lost any element of surprise."

We could press ahead, but in our current state it is clear we made several tactical mistakes to get to this point. We need to figure out how we can get to the next part without getting killed."

Kamon-do says You stepped up thrack and that's what a true warrior is all about. I am sorry for the loss and even more so the way it happened to you. your strength is in how you keep the control you do. I don't think we made any mistakes you least of all. had they been close quarters fighters I dare to think you would have taken most of them down in seconds. the fact you got as many of the foes as you did shows your better than them. My only regret was not taking down those archers and for that I am shamed. My inner scholar made me think instead of react like a true warrior should. sorry probably wont cut it but I'll offer it anyway as you and "E" have been my friends like no one else have before.

Mika looks up from her quick search of the fallen bandits and comments, "It appears that these were close quarter combatants. The only weapons they carried were their scimitars and some daggers. It seemed especially skilled that working together in order to give each other advantage in combat."

Looking over where the bandits had been hiding Mika adds, "I think they were waiting for us to get in the middle of them, or to decide to go around them. They may not have liked Thrack's playing, but they didn't come out until I started poking a sword into the tree one of them was hiding in. At that point, if he did not come out, he would've eventually been skewered by my sword. And when won came out, he called for all the others to come out so we couldn't pick them off one by one."

Aegis simply dusted his robes at that deflection.  "The mistakes had nothing to do with your...playing.  The going out into the open to act as a distraction might've best been something we all talked about before we rushed in.  That's the only mistake you made.  If you get angry at even the mention of criticism of the whole group's actions, then we aren't going to survive our next fight."

"We didn't have adequate cover.  We didn't properly assess the situation before the combat started.  They outnumbered us, if we had not spotted some of their people farther off we might've been killed.  We didn't have a formation either. Those mistakes were what I was thinking of.  Your music was a good idea, so don't worry about that." While Aegis didn't like the music, he did feel like it was a good distraction.

"Yeah.  We barely made it out of this one.  I nearly died twice and while I'm not exactly comfortable with that, we need to figure out how to make things easier for squishy people like me.  Perhaps we can create modified cover in the wagon since its increasingly clear we aren't bringing any of these bastards in alive."

kamon-do says Well I have heard of wizards and others who use magic create armor. did you not ask your instructor about that? I see that I'll have to hold on to these for a bit but going back seems cowardly and not very productive. If my friend thrack here thinks we go back that's also my vote. Obviously  we are not going forward so I'll prep more bolts no matter which way we go.(she hops onto the cart and begins to sharpen her bolts)

A large well guarded caravan might have never known they were there. I agree that we need to plan on how to deal with them so that we survive the next encounter."

OOC: By tower, does Aegis mean Thunderspire? That's a mountain, not just a tower. Inside is the ruins of a large maze-like city built my Minotaurs long ago. Currently part of it is occupied by a cabal of Wizards, one of which cheated Kamon-do. Then run a black market where races of the underdark can trade with surface dwellers. Items not legal for sale elsewhere can be found here, along with items that are simply rare. It's quite liekly that the slavers are also operating out of Thunderspire, since the black market would give them a place to sell their captives. Thunderspire is a BIG place, it's likely that the group could find an unused corner to camp in if they decide to do so. Unknown is if that would be any safer than camping out in the open.

I don't claim to be any good at tracking, but it seems to me it would be much easier to track them today than tomorrow. How about if we rest here a bit to recover while we plan what we want to do next?"

"That is true..." Aegis says, scratching his chin.  "We might not have time.  For all we know we wiped out most of the bandits here, or the more skilled ones, and we should work to track after a rest.  Maybe it'll take us some time, but who knows.  We should try to recover first and then see if we can follow the bandits"

As Aegis hasn't been in the region, he hadn't considered the problem.  He will give Mika's opinion more weight though.

Had this been a bar and they weren't evil fucks and made no crimes thus far and were drunk or even sober. i would have told them to walk out when they could still walk. they would have a honest chance to do the smart thing. If they refused and the second any them tried to land a hand on someone especially a lady. Then i would brake thier arms off, and kept fighting them until they said sorry. but they would still be alive after.

I have my lines u all have yours and its clear there not going to be the same.

Elir and k are the only two who know the way i think and mikia who did so by accident.

So u can ether help me do what needs to be done or stay out of my way both are just fine to me.

Being near death sucks and i have been there. i hope it gives u a new out look on the world. Carry the scars with pride and live to fight another day.

Lastly : K, i play to give voice for the dead as bad as i am its only way to honor them. I can't bring back my parents but i can get them vengeance. I dont seek rightness but u already know that. About the tower. K it might be best if you tell them why not go there.

OOC: Essentially Aegis is just confused at this tirade.  He's not trying to be rude, but he doesn't understand why its being brought up.  Wizards do tend to miss the point.

If u really want to get to know him this might be your only chance, he is in a vernable place in his mind right now, its the only time he is able to show just how much he cares about stuff is just after he is out of rages. In about an hr he will calm down and act like shit is fine and carry on.

He has post tramatic stress. I dont know how eles i can show it in the character.


If you miss the point ok, but your going to miss out on his trust and friendship. In a party to rp that might be nessesary to have for not everyone in a party has to get along but if they do it makes it more fun.
Again this might be parties last chance to understand him.

kmaon-do looks at her friend and says the wizards tricked my parents into thinking it was a school to learn magic and paid their life savings to get me in. when I arrived they took everything form me and said I had to give them what else they wanted.(rubs her shoulder while looking away from the party) when I said no they cast a spell to try and "charm" me I resisted with my natural knowledge and fled they chased me for weeks finally I grabbed a couples weapons and armor. also some food and water. The guards chased me but were slow plus they knew how long a scholar would last in the wilds. it was weeks later and out of food and water with beasts after me now. I was trapped close to death when some darts knocked the animals out and Elir rescued me from them. most of the rest of my time prior to joining up with you fine fellows and thrack most of all. I practiced my bow and sword as well as my reading about the arts of which stole my future. I can't go home till I learn about what my parents gave everything for me to learn. (sighs) That's my story. hope you were not board.

OOC: I had trouble following it and I already knew Thrack's background. Having backgrounds is good. Having backgrounds provide motivations for the character is good also. But keep in mind that others have backgrounds providing motivations for their characters too. Being uncompromising in your motivations means splitting the party (bad). Posting about motivations, but agreeing to a compromise can let the party stay together (good). As long as it doesn't reach the point of breaking up the party, a bit of conflict adds to the roleplaying, makes it more than just a combat simulator. More in the next IC post...

Aegis nodded sadly at Kamon-Do's story. "Once we are all powerful enough, I promise I'll do what I can to help you. I'm glad that you were able to escape. Given that, I'm sure we should avoid the tower then. Raven's Roost is not a good place to be.

OOC: On that point, Aegis should not take what you post in the OOC board as something he knows. Presenting backstory shouldn't come out all at once unless its an explanation for behavior. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. That's all I'm going to say on that matter.
