After introductions and a brief discussion of combat tactics, the group sets off, unless there are any last-minute preparations.

The group makes it way though Lowtown, where they had bought the donkey and cart, to the King's Gate. The southern gate was destroyed in the attack that devastated the city 90 years ago, and it still has not been entirely rebuilt. One of the two paired towers is nothing but rubble, and several large gaps remain in the town walls south of the bluffs through which anyone could enter the city. Despite its lack of functionality, the King’s Gate is still used as a guardpost by the Fallcrest guards. Sergeant Gerdrand is in charge here; he is a tall, lanky man who doesn’t say much, answering questions with a grunt or a shake of the head. Since this isn't a toll gate, the group has no problem getting though and is soon traveling south on the old King's road. For the first few miles they pass scattered farms. About 7 miles from Fallcrest they come to the fork in the road. The right branch is the continuation of the King's road, leading past Beth's home of Harkenwood. The left branch is the trade road with the dwarven city of Hammerfast, The Trade Road also goes by Thunderspire, where a wizard bilked Kamon-DO's family out of a significant sum. The Ravenroost is between these two roads, and the gang attacks travelers on both. Tag all, see map here for more details.

Despite his position in the group, Aegis didn't have much of a preference. Turning to both Beth and Kamon-DO, he looked to the two of them for their advice. "Considering the location of Raven's Roost, do either of you have a preference as to which place to go to?"

"Considering the location of Raven's Roost, do either of you have a preference as to which place to go to?" As she looks towards thunderspire and says "I want revenge on that (draconian swear word) wizard ,but I feel I'm not strong enough yet. therefore I say take care of those bandits now.

" O well, you can always put an arrow into his knee and get him to give you back your gold someother time. So let's take the other road then. "

"Maybe we should take the northern road," says Beth. "Then we won't have to go through the woods."

"The north road would seem to take us closer to Raven Roost", agreed Bishop, "if the Thunderspire is not a problem"

"It wouldn't bring us THAT much closer" Aegis said, questioning the idea, "but at the same time, that seems to be the path that we've decided upon. Hopefully we won't bump into any sort of jerky wizards"

" I won't count on it. Anyone who is willing to swindle people out of coin will do anything to get more because they have the power to do so.
That is until something takes it away from them. Right now that's not us.
Someone who has as much power as a mage does they can do quite a bit to make it bad for others given what they do with magic.
He coned people out of coin with out it think what he could do using it on others.
I don't know much about magic but I know enough to know it can be even more dangerous in the hads of someone who abuses that gift and will not hestate to kill others with it.
I'm not saying attack him head on that would be a suicide mission at best. But advoiding it til we assess what we can do to him may be more preferred option.
I don't care what path we take but I ask you all take what this wizard has done and what he can possibly do to us seriously. We best hope we don't run into him. "

The group heads along the trade road leading to the dwarven Hammerfast. It will be a lengthy trip, the group will need to find camping spots twice before reaching the vicinity of Thunderspire and the area most often raided by the Raven Roost bandits.
In mid afternoon of the first day they meet a caravan heading the other way.
