I've created an NPC and magical location tracker since there are a fair few of them - kmansadventures.proboards.com/thread/8969/mage-location-trackerAdd whatever notes you want as to their character (i'll try to keep each NPC consistent as to their likes, dislikes, priorities, etc), things they have worked on, thoughts on the locations, etc

"I do have the athurity of family, haratuge and the skulls. My kin know it. I'm not the wisest person so I make mistakes. Perhaps more then I should. But moving was not a mistake. I don't know the dangers of this place and great storms can complely wipe out villages. You got wet, slept on the ground and like the rest of us - your mesrable and sore and had a bad nights sleep. The nice way to put it. That's what going on an adventure means. Wait untell you wake up to a rattle snake or two sleeping between your legs. I'm heard of such things more then once happening. The snakes are drawn to the warm of peoples bodies. They can end up getting bit where its sesative.
By the way. I have seen an entire village wiped out by a spellcasting assasian and I almost caught him. He was fleeing for his life at the end of of the fight. I just couldn't run as fast as a horse. I can now." says Ka'lion giving Parias a look suggesting that a spellcasting assasain was what Ka'lion thinks Parias really is.

"That's not helpful" Mazaera says while Parias wanders off muttering to himself. She pokes him with a finger, "you may not by grans favourite any more after that stunt you pulled with her familiar."
"So tell me about this assassin"
-Mazaere is Ka'lions cousin on his fathers side and barely 15. She had something of a goth phase when she was younger but it seemed to spark off her recent focus in magic. Parias is in his 40s and was in his early 30s when he first came to study as an outsider. He had previously received formal training elsewhere and was never much one for animals or nature despite his elemental focus.

" Ka'lion was not saying a single untruth nor was I. I can't speek on that certain caster for i was not with them then unless you mean the one making the undead in the lower castle.
And all i hear from all of you is how he messed up with his grans familiar.. he still has given me bits and pieces but in the end it truly does not matter. The event happened and its time everyone moves on, including his gran.
Please dont get me wrong here, to casters thier super important i get it i do. Its just that reminding someone of thier screw ups,not letting them back home, rubbing thier face in it does not alow ether side to move on and learn.
It does not matter if he is favorite or not. Im my house we were equal why because each child was different, but all were loved the same.
Family true family forgives and always loves first as well as unconditionally.
Shamious is adopted, i love him like i would my own son. True i pointed out his mistakes but i tought him not to repeat them, he grew from them. In battle he lost his sword in the fight. Ka'lion who like he just said is not always wise showed him wisdom by not rubbing it in his face or telling him off. Its by time the rest of you do the same. See him for who he is now, not how u want him to be.

Mazaera replies to George, "what I mean is that he shouldn't be throwing his weight around with Parias as 'one of the family', or winding him up with talk of assassins and snakes in his bed." She chuckles, "and while gran does love him i'm pretty sure she hasn't forgiven him, not this quickly. Is that why you are here Ka'lion, banished again? Weren't you supposed to be studying calmness and serenity with monks or something?"

"Mazaera he needed to hear it. He uses magic that is designed to kill others and rarely has any other purpus. But it was petty.
And I'm still grandmas favorite and that's why shes still mad at me. No one will ever get as mad at you then the people that love you the most. My granda ma is not a good women but she is not a bad one either. But she has a temper and she loves her familiers. My parents sent me away for my protection in hopes that the rage that was consuming me at the time when my grandmas familier bit me when I broke its neck would pass. Two hot heads in the same room tends to be exsplosive and grandma would of hated herself if she had killed me. But Goerge is right. Forgiveness puts the past behind you. It's time to move on.
As far as the magic assasain. There are a few useful leasons in the encounter. We had been hired by the athorities of Clearwater to check a number of glyphs in the valley if I remember correctly.
A few weeks out we came to a very small village with a church, a store, a barn and a few other buildings including an inn. Soon we where attacked by summoned birds when we tried to get into the church. Everyone we found was dead in the village. The surviviors had hidden in the church. Through the windows we could see everyone was dead. Now we where being attacked by summoned birds - so we couldn't be sure. They had stacked the benches inside to keep things out. I broke the window and climbed inside hoping there would be surviovers. I didn't find any. Suddenly we where attacked by spiders. By that time I was mad as hell and not thinking resonably but I was going to avenge that village if it was the last thing I did!
Where was the magic assasain? On the second floor in the inn where he could see everything and where it would be hard to get to him. I set fire to the church to protect the dead from being sold to evil necromancers and to cremate their remains and to kill the spiders. I can see now what I had seen had really upset me and I had stopped thinking clearly. I was just mad as hell and had a few hand axes. I couldn't afford any thing else. So I was largely defenceless ageinst the wizard - he had range and I didn't. I was just a weak but smart barbaian and it was my first real fight.
Then I had an idea. I'd steal his horse so he couldn't out run me and charged the inn. Now I admit it was an exstreame reaction - but for the first time in the fightt the wizard was on the defence. Most of my party was hurt at that point. So we'd soon start taking losses. The parties preist and druid had used up most of their healing.
I got inside the inn - charged up the stairs spotted a fire glyph - but the wizard was gone - I think he exchaped through the window but I can't be sure. Then I charged the barn. I found the wizards horse and tried to ride it but it was a summoned mount and refused to let me. So I tried to kill the mount. I missed twice! The wizard cast another summon spiders at me and managed to mount his horse and road off with me chasing him. I was gaining on him and the bells of the church had started to ring. Someone was inside and I had set fire to the building. I had to let the assasaon go or let the inacent person die. I broke back into the church - this time while it was on fire to rescue the person trapped in the bell tower and got them out alive.
My party was a little affraid of me after that but because I had done the right thing in the end we contenued to work together for a while." says Ka'lion

"Mazaera the monks where murdered while I was away working for Clearwater. There are only a few serviviors. So I've been working for my self since. I'm damed if I stay to help or if I leave to help. So I'm not sure whats the right choice anymore. So now I work with people that need me and know me for who I am and not for who they want me to be." says Ka'lion, "Other then that I'm working on improving my wisedom so I'll be a better wizard someday but it ill take a while."

"oh?"
Ka'lion plays back the story in his mind. Faster than a horse, not faster than a horse, or was it stealing the horse before finding the horse, or was it something else that tipped her off. Perhaps he was convincing, and risks a glance at George to see how his story held up.
"You were sent to the Steadlands weren't you, near Woldegad?"

"I don't remember the places name but I think the story is true as far as Ka'lion knows."
"I think so. I have a map so we can double check. Why do you ask? The lizard folk are hostal." says Ka'lion

George does hear the rest of that conversation.
He hides a smile, in his many months with ka'lion he had seen much growth. Maybe George was right all along when they meet all those months ago when he took on helping to find a way to help ka'lion see the world and himself in a different way.
Maybe just maybe he was doing his Gods work, not exactly fast but in time.
Shamious was now doing fine.
All in all George for the first time realized he actually accomplish his own goals, ones that does not come offten given he is helping others with thiers.
George does not think the monks are dead, given thier training only that ka'lion does not want to be trained by them.
The funny thing is in all of this George help teach ka'lion wisdom by letting him figure it out along the way, while the monks would do it sort of simular. Given that is how true wisdome is defined as.
So in a long about way his parents did do the right thing by sending him way he just got a different teacher was all.

I dont know why either. He could of been lied to by the monk. They worked together for a short time while Ka'lion tried to bring peace to the druids.

Then im unsure why the bluff roll then Ka'lions story deviates from the truth in a number of key ways - not about the monks but about the village, though George would not know this as (based on previous events) I assume he takes Ka'lions word unless you decide to make a sense motive roll.
Ka'lion did not enter the inn until after the party had finished fighting the spellcaster. He did throw axes at a horse (and hit it) but rather than chasing the mage he tried to set the horse on fire, and then the church, and then the inn. Of course Mazaera has no way of knowing what actually happened either but has know Ka'lion for a long time and actually has one of the better sense motive scores amongst the mages due to her backstory.

I don't remember it the sameway you do. I do remember in that fight I couldn't roll above a 7 for the entire battle. And I never tried to set fire to the horse. If I used fire for the horse I would of been trying to scare it off. The church was the first thing he set on fire. He was pinned down next to it.

I don't remember it the sameway you do. Well it was 5 years ago. Not for Ka'lion of course but it is possible he remembers it differently as he often mis-remembers all types of information. For what it's worth I rechecked the original posts and game notes first.
Looking at my records - Conjurer(3) Binder(1-savnok), Grease, Summon swarm, Summon Monster 2 (D3 fiendish hawks/crows), Augmented summoning, Shadowform familiar(carrying Chill touch), Cloudy conjuration, lv1 runestaff, scrolls and potions. 24 hitpoints, half spell slots.

The barn with Vadania - the rings a bell. Do keep in mind Ka'lion had a 10 wisdom at the time. And he's been though a lot/ So have I.
