The next challenge is: Graakvs. Elxethan========================== Alright boys, let's settle in on the rules here. The first match (Krysta vs. Callian) I did this over IM, but let's get it out in the open. Once I get you both to agree to the statement below (no lawyer loopholes please), we'll be good to go. This is supposed to be a fight for fun and sport. All I ask is for a fair fight, no metagaming and changing actions in response to anothers actions. Agreed?

Before we begin, can we get a ruling on RoE stacking?

As I understand it, RoE won't do jack if you're already exhausted, will exhaust you no matter what if you fail your save, and will fatigue you if you make your save. Keep in mind that a fatigued character that gets fatigued becomes exhausted.

Whoops. I had it mentally confused with ray of enfeeblement- sorry. Carry on.

I want a good fight, use whatever tools you have at your disposal to prevail. Good luck. ================================== As you stand on the darkened platform you look up to see the lights of the arena glowing above you. You stand ready with your gear at hand and your spells prepared as the gears begin turning. Slowly, ever so slowly you rise up into the arena on your wooden platform, you see a sandy floor and bleak stone walls surrounding you. You can also see large stone pillars supporting the ceiling above your heads. Echoing around the cavernous opening you hear the sounds of the other platforms rising into the arena with yours; on one of them stands your opponent. You immediately glance from left to right to look for any sign of your them, but you can only see the arena. {You both start the battle unawares of the other's whereabouts. If you want to try to sneak or anything of it's like, gimme your modifiers and I'll pan out the rest. Have fun!} ================================== Initiative: Graak (16), Elxethan (15). {It was a close race, sorry} _______________________ /-----------------------\ /-------------------------\ /------------(E)------------\ /-----------------------------\ /-------------------------------\ /---------------------------------\ /-----------------------------------\ /-------------------------------------\ /----------[=]-------------[=]----------\ /-----------------------------------------\ |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |------------------[===]------------------| |---(-)------------[===]------------(-)---| |------------------[===]------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| \-----------------------------------------/ \----------[=]-------------[=]----------/ \-------------------------------------/ \-----------------------------------/ \---------------------------------/ \-------------------------------/ \-----------------------------/ \------------(G)------------/ \-------------------------/ \-----------------------/ \_____________________/

Elxethan will cast expeditious retreat, then move the square directly SW of the NE pillar, looking around for his opponent.

Graak will cast Enlarge Person and move to the middle of the central pillar (side facing him.)

What? You can only move 15 ft., dude. That's like 50.

Oop. Well, he'll move forwards 15 feet.

{Not much to report, but it's the first round} Quickly scanning the arena Graak enlarges himself and then sets forward into the sandy arena. Moments later Elxethan responds with a spell of his own, quickly moving to the edge of a pillar nearby to look for signs of his foe. {Spot Checks, both succeed (only at a 10)} At small signs of movement both sets of eyes immedaitely lock on the position of their opponent. There is an edge of pillar somewhat between you, but you've got him in your sights. Elxethan cannot help but notice the unusually large Graak standing in the sand, while Graak notes that Elxethan seems to move a bit more swiftly than usual. ====================== Initiative continues on the same: Graak, Elxethan. {Both spell effects will be in effect for a number of minutes, so I'm not counting rounds for durations sake.} _______________________ /-----------------------\ /-------------------------\ /------------(-)------------\ /-----------------------------\ /-------------------------------\ /---------------------------------\ /-----------------------------------\ /-------------------------------------\ /----------[=]-------------[=]----------\ /--------------------------E--------------\ |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |------------------[===]------------------| |---(-)------------[===]------------(-)---| |------------------[===]------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| \-----------------------------------------/ \----------[=]-------------[=]----------/ \-------------------------------------/ \----------------GG-----------------/ \---------------GG----------------/ \-------------------------------/ \-----------------------------/ \------------(-)------------/ \-------------------------/ \-----------------------/ \_____________________/
[/size] Edit: Oh yes, as Wiz has done I need some way to keep track of what spells have been cast or whatnot. Strike them out, whatever, but I'd liek to make sure that I can tell whats left. Thanks.

(Not to be a whiner, but isn't LOS directly through a pillar? How can we see each other?)
Knowing the young wizard's propensity for pyrotechnics, Graak casts Resist Elements (Fire) and advances 15 feet.

(I don't know, man. Put a ruler up against your monitor [or some substitute if you don't want to screw with your screen quality...bad stuff can happen]. It looks like I have line of sight. If I didn't, I wouldn't have delayed---instead I'd have cast cat's grace.)

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmnnnn. At the very least it is obscured. Perhaps an increased-DC Spot check?

(Wouldn't that be offset by the fact that you're Large?)

{Not to offend anyone, but I did call for a spot check. If it were plain view, I would not have done so. Neither of you were exactly hiding, since you never claimed to be; so I deemed that you spot one another. If either of you would like to take steps to become hidden from LOS, you certainly can.} {Now it's my turn to be picky, TTC, instead of Resist Elements, did you mean Resist Energy (p. 272 3.5 phb)? That's the nearest thing I can find to your spell in my books. It will give you resistance of 10 for fire if you so choose, so I'm guessing this is it.} Casting another spell as he advances another 15 feet Graak's large body is now somewhat protected from the element of fire. Watching his opponent Elxethan waits, biding his time while he formulates a plan of action. =================== Initiative: Elxethan (25), Graak (16) _______________________ /-----------------------\ /-------------------------\ /------------(-)------------\ /-----------------------------\ /-------------------------------\ /---------------------------------\ /-----------------------------------\ /-------------------------------------\ /----------[=]-------------[=]----------\ /--------------------------E--------------\ |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |------------------[===]------------------| |---(-)------------[===]------------(-)---| |------------------[===]------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| \---------------------GG------------------/ \----------[=]-------GG----[=]----------/ \-------------------------------------/ \-----------------------------------/ \---------------------------------/ \-------------------------------/ \-----------------------------/ \------------(-)------------/ \-------------------------/ \-----------------------/ \_____________________/

Elxethan moves to 5 squares N of the W side of the SE pillar(or 1 square E and 6 squares S---I realize that the first description is a bit hairy) and casts ray of exhaustion at Graak, firing the black ray from his fingertips.
(+5 against Graak's new touch AC (8, woohoo!), then Fort save DC 17).
