Welcome to the Guild Game whose vague title might be confusing. What exactly is this project?
1) The Guild Game hopes to create a living city environment for players explore.
We intend to create a city that is lively and interactive, allowing players the ability to interact with a huge variety of characters in an equally large variety of places. By designing as many of the personalities in the city as possible and allowing both players and DMs to fill multiple roles, participants will be allowed to roleplay many different types of scenes to develop their characters and have a massive variety of urban encounters. By expanding the city and keeping characters open to use, the typical limits on where the story may go are lifted and only limited by how far the participants are willing to take it.
2) The Guild Game provides a central conflict between factions in which the players take on dynamic roles.
By aligning themselves with organizations in which they are important members, the players will be able to move the plot of the game. They have say in how they will handle the conflicts between their rivals. These conflicts can occur on a variety of fronts and levels. Instead of being pawns in the games of demons and dragons, the players can attempt to utilize their organizations resources along with their own skills and thrive in the face of their competition.
3) The Guild Game allows for player participation in the world-building process.
The city is a big place filled with people, places and plots. Players will be allowed to design key elements that will give the setting detail, as well as submit their own input on how to add details to the campaign world. In addition, sub-plots driven by the players will enhance character downtime and truly make this a city with a thousand stories.
4) The Guild Game will be friendly toward new players entering, players taking breaks and players participating just as much as they want.
With the living city design, players will be able to enter the game as in progress, joining existing plots and starting new ones. Existing characters will need to be roleplayed in upcoming scenes. Players can take a character and play it for a single short encounter or make a main character that is the focus of the plot and run them for as long as the game runs. This freedom makes the game open to any who wish to try it, no matter their time constraints.

Currently, the game is in the planning stages. The city will be needing a lot of material, including setting, NPCs and organizations. Separate threads and guidelines for this will be set up soon to get these things rolling. A prelude game is also being started to help get a feel for things. This project is on the move, so please check back often to see what's been done and what you can do to help!
