SEA GREEN
The Council listens intently to Gro-Bug and Natsumi. It is not often such situations as civil unrest are interrupted by a group of people that claim to know the solution. They provide you with uninterrupted attention. When Gro-Bug hands over the coin, the council nods knowingly. They have seen the sign before. The Half-Giant reaches under the bench and hands Madrigal a dented breast plate to show you.
Madrigal approaches and holds the plate up for all to see. It was once a mirrored silver finish, but has been tarnished by sand and grit on side, blood on the other. It was once a portion of a full suit of plate mail, but the rest is missing. It was once formed to curved chest and stomach of a man, but has been beaten as flate as a dinner plate. Whomever was in this armor was beaten to a bloodied, flat pulp by a large club.
On the front, still visible despite the beating, is the large hooked-spine symbol of 'The Master'.
"You already know much that we do not." The Half-Giant Councilman states clearly. "This is clearly the symbol for the forces which you speak."
The council collectively nods.
"You have our support." The Elven woman chimes in. "If you think you can speak with the giants and reason with them, then we shall help in anyway we can. I warn you now though, they are ill-tempered with recent events and distrust any who do not share their blood."
"As for your artifact." The human man goes on. "I cannot say we have heard of any such thing. If you can describe it we will surely offer our help. And be assured that should you prove helpful in our crisis, we will not stand in your way if you acquire it."
Again, a collective nod from the council indicating approval.
"As for seeking the legendary Girud Sandstrider, we suggest you speak with Madrigal. He is a direct descendant of the sand warrior and knows nearly all his tales." The human woman adds.
"The council speaks too well of me." Madrigal comments.
Well, it appears you have garnered the help of the council...now what will you do with it?
DARK RED
[Spot Checks, No successes]
[whisper=TheUdjat]Though Wanderer, with his keen eyes in the blackness of night, does catch a fading glimpse of brushes in the distance moving slightly as if signalling the passage of something large. You guess that if Horace's mate when running that way, this would be her sign.[/whisper]
[Listen Checks, Wanderer and Tyrano]
[whisper=ryngo, TheUdjat]
You both hear the sounds of heavy hoofbeats off in the distance. They pump hard, fast and hard. You imagine Horace's mate is running full bore for the sound quickly fades. She headed due North at break-neck speeds in the night.[/whisper]
Illyianna scrambles to grab a piece of Wanderer's cloak as she lifts herself from the ground.
"What do you think it was she saw? More of those horrid creatures?
[Combination of track/survival skills] Those of you with a sense for tracking can note that Horace's mate entered this little thicket in human form, then darted off into the underbrush as a were-horse. She moved with intent and speed, nearly in a straight line. Juding by the powerful depressions in the grass and the distance, she must have been running full speed as if to catch something.
Despite your best efforts, you do not find evidence of what she hunts.
Horace stamps his feet wildly, looking for action!
LENNY -
{Unfortunately, to full withdraw only provides protection against the first square. Due to the large size of your mount (which should be a 10' square), they will get AoO's during the withdrawal. I will do my best to move you Diagonal NE and out of this.}
Despite being surrounded, you spur the mounts forward towards New Ravenshead. You give the horse a kick and it moves for all it's worth. The shadowy minions of Vorkal reach for Horse flesh as you run...
[2 AoO's on your horse, both misses. 3 AoO's on the other horse, 1 hit for 4 STR]
You hear the horse behind you cry out as the shadows grab a hold of its flesh. It spurs on though, unhindered.
[Vorkal's readied action trigger was your close within 20ft. I can't see how you get past without going that close (moving diagonal and North)]
The shadow-mage extends his hands and the sickly miasmic energy of death shoots forward in waves. It washes over you, slamming into your core with unbridled force. [Waves of Fatigue, No save] You find yourself lacking the strength to move despite the adrenaline pumping through your veins. You notive the horses slow too, the energy sapping their life force.
NEXT ROUND
The shadows move to surround you once again. [Double Moves]
Vorkal points his finger at you and holds his other shadowy upright as if to silenly say stop. He holds steady, waiting for you to make the next move.
[Vorkal will ready again.]
[Initiative Order: Shadows (15), Vorkal (12), Lenny (11)]
