Initiative order (Crom 0, Goran 3, Matrox 5, Nimar 8, Water Elemental [dice=10])
Crom and Shay lash themselves or otherwise hold on as best they can as the ship is ravaged by the might of the Water Elemental (you may be hit easier if attacked, but do not have to DEX check each round to stay onboard). As a particularly violent wave catches the 'Uneven Keel' midship, crewmen and party members alike do their best to stay aboard.
Goran, DEX check to stay on board,[dice=20] - fail.
Matrox, DEX check to stay on board,[dice=20] - fail.
Nimar, DEX check to stay on board,[dice=20] - pass.
Dalien, DEX check to stay on board,[dice=20] - pass.
Caught by a sudden jolt and unsteady in the ferocious wind and rain, Goran and Matrox are thrown to one side and hurtle towards the deep grey swell.
(PCs in the water are there for two rounds until the crew can pull them out, but as Shay has specifically said he is going to try and help steady people and keep them aboard, I am allowing him a DEX check to save one of you.)
Shay, DEX check, [dice=20], pass, and you manage to catch, [dice=2], Matrox, before he goes overboard.
Goran you tumble into the sea! (will make a post about this later)
Crom allows himself to run down-deck, using the rope as a safety aid, and takes a double swipe at the elemental with Torden, Hammer of Thunderbolts. The wind rages into a howl and water explodes from the creature's torrential form as Torden bites deep.
'Torden', damage rolls:
[dice=4][dice=4]+27=29
[dice=4][dice=4]+27=32
The torrent of water and air that is the elemental's form here on the material plane dissipates momentarily, and then manifests once more from the storm that lashes about you.
Matrox, your Magic Missile burns water into ozone as it blasts into the being. 16 damage (rolled in PM).
Nimar's shot goes wild, but his everyday crossbow bolts stand no chance of wounding such a creature anyway.
Under such sudden threat, the elemental responds by growing giant hammer-shaped arms from the stormwash, and trying to pummel Crom, its most dangerous foe.
[dice=20]+2 (defender unstable), +1 (defender lashed to deck), hitting AC 0.
Crom feels the hammer blows like they are made of rock, taking [dice=6]*5=(25) damage.
The creature seems less solid now, and the storm is lessening.
Actions and initiative for next round.
Please try to roll your d20 attack rolls and with your THAC0, tell me what AC you hit. If you need help, PM me. Once we all get used to doing that, I can run combats much quicker as I'll only have to add unusual modifiers to what you've already worked out. Players who know the rules, please help out with extra posts if possible until the others learn what they are doing with the rules.[rand=9965738008328913887304564093436466890126048142289991847265439157]
