Mission Statement[/u][/size]
Purpose: To create a new setting usable for stories and roleplaying set on a terraformed Venus. The world should thematically resemble a Victorian/early Industrial earth, with Imperialism, high exploration of savage and uncharted lands, blending in unusual Venusian elements of the world.
What’s the Game Plan? First and foremost, to establish the world’s flavor—that is, to figure out how the world works, what the major cultural elements are for Venus’s people, the nations and their history, and anything else to make this setting rich, exciting, and full of opportunities for stories. When this is done, mechanics can be developed to fit our needs—probably by adapting an existing game system, such as M&M. Lastly, when the world is provisionally finished, a game and story must be made using it as the setting.
All of that done, I will consider this project a success.
Current Progress: After much earlier discussion regarding how to proceed, development for Venusian Skies has been restarted. Recent articles include:
Themes and Patterns, an overall look at themes and goals I had in mind for designing this setting;
Venus – The World, a discussion primarily of Venus’s physical aspects;
Flora and Fauna, general information on Venusian plant and animal life;
Venusfall, details about the colonization of Venus and the dismal fates of those colonies, triggering the Dark Age of Venus; and
The Dark Ages, a summary of ancient history as Venusians see it, including an overview of certain cultures and nations. (Needs Details)
The next subject due to be written is The Age of Discovery, which will focus on recent history and the current state of the world, hopefully including some more in-depth details about the various cultures and nations of Venus.
