{I will be awarding XP on a scenario basis. I hope to rectify the slow progression we saw in 'Of Masks and Men' in this way, and introduce some clear and well understood milestones to the game - more to help focus my DM'ing than the players. Let me know if anything I do does or does not work in your opinion. }Your first lead has led to a dead end. Lothar, an outland brigand hood, turned out to be on the run from 'The Mountain', a feared and respected Assassins' Guildmaster. You will have words with your informants on your return to Cambridge. First, it is time to chase another lead that has become apparent since you took to the road a week ago. Gerdie, a hedge-witch living near the village of Whitehill to the north of here, is reported by a Bard to know something of Dragon Mountain. But what? Colvin - XP AwardsKaldahl Vorinsted - 0 Dalien Matthias - 11,550 Morg - 0 Elthar Helden - 1300 Matrox Spellweaver - 12,300 Shay Matthias - 12,000 Crom - 13,300 Goran - 10,500 {XP awards are a combination of story, encounter, loot, class and roleplay awards. Do not read anything into what you get compared to others as the numbers will no doubt fluctuate depending on what classes play more key roles in given encounters. Also, meaningful roleplay and party interaction will net you a good few points even if you dont get very active in game terms.}Any preparations or final actions in Colvin before moving on to Whitehill? Mel promises the party's reward will be forwarded to Cambridge, and you speak to the local guardsmen about this, and have matters witnessed by a local councillor. It all seems above board. No doubt Lothar will ultimately be glad the law got him before the Assassins Guild.

Shay is annoyed. He has his doubts about going to see this witch, but right now it's the only lead they have.
"There's just something about witches," Shay remarks. "They're crazy. I don't trust them as far as Crom can throw them."
He envisions Dragon Mountain creeping further and further away from him.
"And they're never pleasant to look at. Please, for once, just give me a cute witch. Maybe then I could get past the crazy." Shay throws his hands up into the air.
"Alright, let's get this over with, for Dragon Mountain."
He is ready to take to the road once more, not really having much to do here other than finalize the terms of their reward money for Lothar.

Crom nods. "We move""They're crazy. I don't trust them as far as Crom can throw them." (OOC - for reference, Crom can throw witches as type B weapons, out to about 160 yards, 1/rnd, damage depends on weight)

[Yeah, I was just about to say:]
Dalien snickers. "Crom can throw witches pretty far, Shay."
"I think cute witches get upgraded to 'sorceress', but I admit I've never really cared enough to say for sure. It comes down to the same thing in the end: woman with magic. And you're right, that's really a frightening place to put your trust."
He frowns. "But I don't see us having much of a choice. Lothar turned out to be a useless, albeit lucrative, lowlife. So on we go."
"We'll find you a cute shepherdess and dress her up in a pointy hat when this is all done. Then you'll feel better."

"Hell, if we make it through the Mountain and back again with all that loot, maybe we can find you one too." Shay says with a laugh, taking a friendly cheap shot at his older brother as they head out of town.

Shay quiets down, taking in that good old fashioned awkward silence that usually follows whenever Dalien manages to get more than a sentence or two in edgewise. It was always fun to look around and see the uncomfortable expressions on everyone's faces.

Matrox looks somewhat bemused at the prospect of "purchasing" women but then smiles after a minute realising that he was with them, you had to expect that kind of talk. Relatively satisfied, Matrox opens his mouth to remind everyone that he had suggested the witch before Lothar but closes it just as quick. The others were tense...they wanted Dragon Mountain certainly more than he did. To him it was the chance of unequalled sorcerous power. Knolwedge lost for thousands of years. To them it was gold and a challenge of might.
Letting the others be he walks over to Mel "Now then sir, about the reward. As we secured him at our risk i think it is right we get the lion's share of the reward so to say. Your generous offer of transport has not been forgotten however. I believe 1000gps is a fair portion for your outlay for what amounts to a few hours work at practically no risk. If you care to......negotiate the split i would direct you to my lord Crom. Though between you and i, it would be best not to trouble him. You see, he has rather a grouchy temper" Matrox takes great care in raising his voice when speaking the last two sentences so they are well within the earshot of Crom and the rest of the party.

Goran says to the brothers, "Sheperdess? Nay lads, you need yourself a good stout Dwarven woman! One with side wiskers as fine as silk, and as long as aurochs hair! Not any of these weak sheep herders! Pah, probably just them elven twigs! break in half if ya hold em too hard!" That last was a shot at Nimar, all in freidnly banter. Nimar of course denies Goran the pleasure of the arguement.
