Background
Culture: Huwar (hoo-ar)
The Huwar are a hard group of people who survive by tending one of the northermost lakes of Pheonix Homage. Hailing from an area of harsh winters and short summers, the Huwar tend to have a do-or-die attitude, facing every situation quickly and carefully. Their diet consists mostly of fish and goat products due to the cold climate.
The heroes of their society are the wintermen, wandering priests who follow the lords of winter. Wintermen have no real home, living off of the welcome charity of the people, who are more than willing to due to their saint-like status. Winter men also double as healers and exorcists, taking care of most health of undead issues the populace might face.
Mainly a lake society, they count many experienced mariners among their number. Ships built by the Huwar have incredibly shallow hulls, allowing them to glide on top of the water and weather the harshest of storms. Wintermen often ride along with the fishing crews to protect and guide the boats through the tumultuous lake.
Families live in a collection of stone and sod huts placed closely together. Extended families are very common, with three or more generations living on one small plot of land. Most families are missing members because of the climate and many more are claimed by Lake Huwar as well.
Personality: There are some who call Anatoly callous. The truth is he's as harsh as the winter itself. Caring nothing for morals or taboos, he works toward his final goal of creating his own plane of existance.
Background: Healing only to draw magic from the positive plane, and summoning celestial and fiendish animals from other planes, Conjuration magic is the one of the only things Anatoly truly cares about. Summoning fogs and creating a small army of extraplanar creatures based on those of this world are just a few of the things that Anatoly strives to accomplish.
The other thing is the Lords of Winter. Following the teachings of all of the gods, he particularly cares for Ulrik, the patron of magic and protection. He follows the winterman ways feircely, constantly moving around in the search for knowledge and experience. He never stops at the same home twice, and takes on challenges just to find new ways to use his conjuration magic.
