SEA GREEN
Amassu continues to brood over the missed opportunity as the falling warriors are caught, though he listens to Natsumi’s words. He eyes Henrick with a particular coldness, but says nothing about the captain.
”Yes,” Amassu agrees. “I will.” He watches as the others recover from their tumble and as Ella brings the roc in for a landing. The giant bird is injured, but not badly, though it is suffering from the dragon’s breath much as the others are.
Natsumi remains reserved and proper as she greets her comrades. Sean and Gro-bug are openly grateful for the cloud giant’s timely appearance, and are clearly curious about how it came about so far from giant lands, and the Dune Palace. Amassu is still glowering, but gives Natsumi a little nod of approval to let her respond for him.
Amassu grunts his approval at this last. “It knows I pursue it, and it fears. Let it run and licks its wounds. I will kill it in single combat when it is at its peak strength, so there can be no doubt who the greater power is.” It appears Amassu has decided to veil his anger at choosing not to chase it down with arrogance, rather than admitting a regard for Natsumi’s comrades. The excuse seems to ease Amassu’s looming anger, especially if no-one should point it out for what it is.
Ella remains reserved in her greeting, mirroring Natsumi’s, knowing that despite her words, the cloud giant is in a foul mood. No doubt her return to the quest was won with difficulty, and Natsumi’s mention of ‘before I should return to him’ reveals that she is not yet completely free of her charge in any case. She has been released for the quest, not forever.
Henrick seems to have caught those words as well, and chokes down his own elation. Even injured and blighted by the dragon’s breath, he was quick to approach Natsumi, despite Amassu’s presence, though her careful words have made him pause. Wisely, for the cloud giant’s glare is very intent on the man. He cannot keep his tongue in check, however. “You’ve come back to us, then?” he says, unable to hide the hope in his voice. “For the quest, I mean,” he swiftly adds.
Amassu rumbles what passes for assent. “The bard has… informed me of your quest’s importance. Our agreement still stands, she will return to me when the quest is finished.” He folds his arms over his chest, that massive mace still in one hand but resting casually now, as a scepter might in the hands of a king. His glare moves about the group, but dwells longer on Henrick than any other. The former captain’s face is a maelstrom of emotion, all of it very poorly being held back. At least he’s trying to restrain himself.
Amassu looks over at Natsumi, expression softening a touch.[/b] “Are you sure you wish to do this?” he rumbles, eerily like the thundering of the cloud he rides. “They are weak, outmatched by The Harbinger—that one is blind. You would surely be safer with me.”
Now it is Henrick’s turn to glare. The man looks ready to brandish his weapon and do something exceedingly stupid if the situation is not calmed.

Gildas-
[Sounds like an Intimidate @ +0: Result hidden.]
As Gildas starts verbally laying into the clerk, she visibly flinches, clearly unaccustomed to such reactions from people coming to the desk. She looks at the other clerk for help, but he is staunchly pretending not to hear the situation, leaving her on her own. “Tertia…?” she asks quizzically, apparently not all that familiar with the distant nation. “I… listen, maybe you’re in the wrong place,” she says, fidgeting a little. “If you’re a dignitary, shouldn’t you see the council? We don’t usually see ambassadors, or if we do, they come with council authority, and you’re just here, and none of this is regular at all.” She shakes her head very strongly, trying desperately to cope with the strangeness of it all.
“You should know that some of his meetings have been with the council. He’s been very busy with them as late. I’m sure if you talked to them and let them know you’re an ambassador from Tertia they could help you, b-but I j-just keep the schedule, you know?” She breathes out heavily, clearly frustrated by this taciturn visitor.
Lockheart stands by, saying nothing, but it’s entirely possible that he’s hiding a smirk under a hand he uses to stroke his moustache pensively.
Lenny, Wystfalrun-
[Diplomacy check w/ Aid another: Result hidden.]
The dwarf continues to look between the two suspiciously for a time, though he nods at Tyrano’s words. “Yes, you make a good point. And the two of you do seem forthright enough…” He shrugs, extending a hand. “The name’s Hallen Blackrock. I should apologize—there’ve been a number of queer folk asking around about King Garor, and it’s made me a wee bit wary. But you don’t resemble them in the slightest.” He grunts mirthfully at that.
“Come, walk with me, we’ll talk on the matter.” The dwarf starts walking deeper into the university, as he had been when you stopped him. “You ask about about Garor and his greatest achievements? Hah, I could write a book on the matter, little one. Garor rose to the throne amidst great adversity, maybe the most we’ve ever seen, but there are things most people, even dwarfs, forget. For instance, did you know Garor was an outcast before he was offered the crown? That’s right, banished by his own people!” He shakes his head in amazement.
“I’m afraid outside of the dwarven kingdom they don’t keep a lot of stories on Garor specifically—that’s why it’s been so much work for me. I can find mention of him in many historical volumes, though, mentioned alongside the other great people of his day. They’re all impressive, I admit, though Garor is of course my favorite. The great library is obviously the best place to read up on Garor Skullsplitter, but it’ll take you weeks to get through it all, and even longer to cross-check the different histories and sort fact from fiction. Can you tell me more specifically what you want to know? Maybe I can help.”
“Though I’d like to know why it is you two, estranged friends of Bazarkrak, don’t already know these things. Did th’ dwarves not show you all their texts? Seems to me the two of you might have a tale or two to share as well.” He looks them up and down, thick eyebrow raised.

"His Eminence, Amassu, King of the Skies, has granted permission, that I may rejoin you to complete our shared quest before I should return to him."
"He has made this trip not by chance, but to deliver me here. We did not immediately foresee the dragon, though we might have known that the cowardly beast would flee so quickly upon beholding its awaiting combatant."

Negative Levels:
A creature takes the following penalties for each negative level it has gained.
–1 on all skill checks and ability checks.
–1 on attack rolls and saving throws.
–5 hit points.
–1 effective level (whenever the creature’s level is used in a die roll or calculation, reduce it by one for each negative level).
If the victim casts spells, she loses access to one spell as if she had cast her highest-level, currently available spell. (If she has more than one spell at her highest level, she chooses which she loses.) In addition, when she next prepares spells or regains spell slots, she gets one less spell slot at her highest spell level.
Negative levels remain for 24 hours or until removed with a spell, such as restoration. After 24 hours, the afflicted creature must attempt a Fortitude save (DC 10 + 1/2 attacker’s HD + attacker’s Cha modifier). (The DC is provided in the attacker’s description.) If the saving throw succeeds, the negative level goes away with no harm to the creature. The afflicted creature makes a separate saving throw for each negative level it has gained. If the save fails, the negative level goes away, but the creature’s level is also reduced by one.
A character with negative levels at least equal to her current level, or drained below 1st level, is instantly slain. Depending on the creature that killed her, she may rise the next night as a monster of that kind. If not, she rises as a wight. A creature gains 5 temporary hit points for each negative level it bestows (though not if the negative level is caused by a spell or similar effect).
