So I was interested in running something simple on the boards, something to pass the time and to have fun with. What I was thinking about was running a 4th edition D&D gladiator ring style game. I decided upon this for a few reasons. The first and main reason is to help those who haven't played 4th edition learn the rules of the game. The combat itself is much different then 3rd edition. They've made combat itself much more tactical, giving classes many different styles of buffs and debuffs that will help the party as a whole, and added many movement abilities to quickly and tactically change positions on the field.
The second is to merely have another outlet online to contribute to and have fun, without having to overburden oneself with a time investment.
I was hoping to see who would be interested in learning 4th edition and the rule sets. This will be strictly combat oriented, as 4th edition rules really only cover combat based actions, giving the GM much more freedom with out of combat decisions. I'd like and hope to see some of the players that are not in the 4th edition game invovled in this, so that they can expand into the 4th edition rules too. Though I'm not saying those in the Moonhaven game are unwelcome.
Anyways, let me know if you'd be interested. As of right now I'd like to keep this to the 4th edition normal party size of 5 characters, but we'll see what the interest is before making a final judgement.

If we get enough people interested, I was going to post more regarding books, level, roles that need to be fufilled. Since you asked though, as I was going to allow all the books and magazines to date. If there is something that I don't have access to then I'll just ask the person to supply a reference and send me the details.
As for level, I'm still not sure what level this would be. I might put a poll up for it, but I was wavering between high heroic tier or low paragon tier.

Good luck with this one Jolith, anything to drum up business around here is good. As for me I have strong feelings about 4.0 and will not be participating. Call me old school, but this system isn't in my library.
Best of luck, let me know if I can offer any help.

Well it appears that there really isn't enough interest with running a 4th Edition game. From what I can tell there is a generally disdain for the system. Having played a bit into it I can see where its coming from. The uniform system of combat does tend to lead to very defined encounters, which can be very unappealing.
However, since there wasn't enough interest in this, I may post a poll in a bit to see if there would be interest in other games.

This is a shame.
I really don't see why there is general disdain or why it is found generally unappealing. However, please don't use that statement as a reason to start a why we should love or hate 4e debate.
Maybe the prefering people who are not currently into 4e bit didn't help. It stopped me checking the thread. Oh and it sounded like it would be higher level then I prefer.
