SEA GREEN
(Haste Actions)
[Just an extra attack, and only when making a full attack. You’re thinking of old Haste.]
Despite the shock of fresh pain from the arrow, Natsumi focuses her mind on the battle, keeping her wits about her. She moves to cover, and then targets the same man that injured her with a spell she’s mastered—instantly the archer freezes, and Natsumi gets an even better look at once of these enemies—savage and wild-looking, but definitely human, albeit dressed in furs and leathers, their faces painted dark and with peculiar patterns, perhaps to allow them to hide and sneak about better.
Sean also moves south, moving next to Ella’s mount as the weasel rights itself. He keeps up his tale, loud enough that even the allies he doesn’t see can certainly hear him.
Gro-bug lets fury overtake him, angry at these elusive opponents who fearfully move away and fire arrows continually at them. He overtakes one of them easily, and with one sweep of his axe opens up the offending archer from chest to groin. He falls, instantly slain.
Down but not thwarted, Ella pursues the archer, lance still in her hands, whistling for her new mount as she goes. Footfalls from behind assure her that it approaches, but she spends her time stabbing the lance into one of the archers—and scores a hit, piercing the man’s side, injuring him.
He quickly moves away, though, darting through the trees and brush to send an arrow at Gro-bug instead. The other archers left follow suit, darting between trees and firing their arrows, but only one has any luck, an arrow scoring a shallow hit on Gro-bug. The others must be rattled from the swift and severe retaliation from the companions—the ensorcelled archer remains held by Natsumi’s magic, unable to break free. Henrick, standing by the man, considers the potential advantages of having a man to question. With the man unmoving, Henrick winds up a powerful blow with the shaft of his mace, crushing it into the base of his skull. Instantly the archer collapses, soundly unconscious. Henrick nods, satisfied, and drops back to Natsumi’s side.

DARK RED
Gildas, Lenny-
The gnome listens, his expression going through various changes as the two speak, apparently towards disconnected aims. Gildas puts forth hard negotiations: what the group wants, what they are willing to concede, and the gnome appears ready to respond to this direct approach—but then Lenny speaks up, again pointing out the maul is a relic that should be used, not left to collect dust, and talking again of Deathspeakers and their armies of undead. This seems to frustrate the gnome, and he speaks up impatiently.
“I’ve told you, I don’t care about any Deathspeakers!” He huffs. “Do you see any undead shambling around? Any zombies calling for brains? I certainly don’t! The dwarves march to war, I’ve heard, but not why. Surely we would have heard about armies of undead.” He shrugs. “It’s no matter to me, anyway. I’m a scholar, not a general, and my focus is on preserving history, not picking sides in some war, or deciding who’s telling me the truth and who’s not! Why do you keep teasing me with honest negotiations and then turning around to squabble about this same issue?” He throws his hands up, aggravated.
Tapping his fingers on the table, the little curator attempt to calm down. He huffs out another breath. “Alright, alright. This is my last offer, and then I’ll take legal steps to claim this artifact! Trouble for all of us, I assure you. Please try to be reasonable. If you give me the maul, I will be able to study its magic and give you a fully-functional replica in a handful of days. As for the bone—I don’t know about a copper bone, per se, but I can help you find it!” He shifts anxiously, uncomfortably, and for the first time Gildas perceives that the gnome may know something in light of what Gildas has told him. “What you say rings some bells, and I do have an ear to what goes on around the University—and considerable influence, you know! Why, just this morning some out-of-towners like you—well, not like you—were wanting to search the grounds for some relic or some such. Hogwash, I said, but the Dean’s taking it seriously anyway.” The news rings some alarm bells to the group, certainly, but the similarity seems lost on the gnome. “If you boys want to search the grounds and need some resources to do so, I could get you the permissions and such, oh yes. Copper bone or whatever it is, the University does have a lot of history, and even if I don’t know about it personally, I’m sure somebody does!”
“But nothing more until the maul is mine, I’m sorry to say. I simply must insist. This is business, gentlemen, and I must remind you that I have no desire to get involved in wars or necromancers or any of that business! I’m just a scholar. That’s my offer. A replica and whatever information I can find, and the freedom to go about your search. Take it or leave it.”
He hesitates, frowning deeply. “But if you refuse me, I am serious about thwarting you. I simply [/i]must[/i] have the maul to complete my collection. I will have you kicked out of the University if I must, and then how will you search for your bone? Really, it would be much better to cooperate.”
Wanderer finally erupts at this, rumbling a growl, closing one fist on the table. “That’s blackmail.”
“Extortion,” the curator corrects him. “But yes. It is. I apologize, but this is quite a dear subject to me, and I cannot have ruffians like you lot standing in my way. You are either allies or enemies, it’s as simple as that.”
Tyrano, Norven-
Seeing the dark men disappear into the council, Tyrano and Norven take it upon themselves to continue after them. There’s not much room for skulking at this point, ads there is only the one clear entrance to the council chambers, and the guards will spot both men long before they reach it. Still, there are none of the somber, scholarly gentlemen in the vicinity, so perhaps there is no reason to hide.
When the two approach, the guards give them a skeptical look, what with their peculiar attire and obvious armaments. “You have business with the council?” One of the guards asks doubtfully. “We’ll need you to sign your names and business on the docket, and leave any weapons here.” Another guards stands in a booth nearby, much as happened at the University. New Ravenshead is apparently very touchy about armed men in peaceful areas. Perhaps they’ve had previous incidents. “Nothing larger than a dagger,” he reminds them, as if he’s told people thousands of times—and probably has.

Gildas – 69/69 HP
Lenny – 61/61 HP
Wystfalrun – 62/62 HP
Norven – 71/71 HP
Lockheart – No damage
Wanderer – 90/90 HP

(Combat Actions)
- Natsumi moves to O-16 and Casts hold Person on #2. Will Save vs. DC 22: 12, fat failure. He is Held.
- Sean moves next to the Weasel (P-11?) and keeps on singing.
- Gro-bug rages and bounds over to Archer 3, failing to detail the squares he takes. I will assume NW and then straight N. No traps. Attack on 3 (using first roll): 31, easy hit. 34 damage. Archer goes poof.
- Technically one must spend a move action to ‘handle’ an animal (such as calling it over), unless it’s a druid/ranger with an animal companion. I don’t see any specific rules for it, but I’ll allow Ella to do it has a free action if she can hit DC 15 (the normal+5), which basically means it’s possible for her to fail on a 1. At any rate, Handle Animal at +13: 27, piece of cake. Weasel is called over.
- Meanwhile, Ella moves to N5 and attacks Archer 1 w/ lance: 19 hits, 10 damage. He is injured. Weasel ends movement in her square for quick-mount next round (not going to apply the standard penalty to AC or loss of dex or any other silliness, so no worries). She recovers 3 HP for lifedrinking.
- Archers act.
Archer 1 tumbles a step from Ella, then moves east, takes a shot at Grimdurr, and continues on east. Attack vs. AC 18 (+1 Haste, -2 Rage): 16, miss.
Archer 2 tries to break out of being Held. Will Save: 8, no dice.
Archer 4 moves, takes a shot at Ella, and moves away again. Attack vs. AC 23 (+1 Haste, -3 for no buckler, as she needed to wield the Lance two-handed this round): 12, miss, didn’t matter anyway.
Archer 5 moves west, takes a shot at Gro-bug, and moves north. Attack vs. AC 18: Nat. 20, threat. Does not confirm (AC 15). 9 damage, or 8 after DR.
Archer 6 moves southwest, takes a shot at Henrick, and returns NE. Attack vs. AC 26 (+1 Haste): 17, miss. - Henrick attempts to knock Archer 2 out. Three nonlethal attacks at full power attack: 24 (threat, confirms on AC 13), 8, 13. One crit, two hits. 2d8+32 damage (4 Str, + 1 Enhancement, +8 PA, +3 Morale, x2 for Crit): 41 nonlethal damage. Archer 2 is out cold on the first hit alone. Henrick takes a 5’ back to Natsumi.
- Natsumi’s Init.
