All take up their positions.
Before Taylor runs off, he leaves one last bit of parting advise to the group.
"Whatever you do, don't get too close to Onyx. I heard he cut a man's head clean off with that axe he got."
The mayor agrees that she will show herself when the orcs arrive. She stands with Ana, ready for the approaching cart.
Finally the rust orange colored cart comes into sight, winding around a bend in the trail. Horseshoes are heard hitting the hard dirt as the orcs take their time getting to their destination.
Three horses with riders seem to be pulling the large wheeled cart while several other figures on horses keep pace alongside. (The group can count eight from this distance. )
A loud voice bellows no word in particular and the cart comes to a stop.
It is now about 200 feet from the perimeter of town (marked by the guardpost where the group of students encountered the guard on the previous evening.)
All watch and wait in silence.
The inside of the cart is not visible from here.
Five orcs can be seen dismounting and heading for Greenvale, walking along the clear path toward the guard at his post.
These orcs are armed and armored exactly as Taylor had said, studded leather and morningstars, not currently at the ready.
They wear cloaks, deep purple in color. Filth and grime cling to their boots and coat their hands.
Swooping below their red eyes are smears of black paint.
They stop at a respectful 40 feet from the guardpost and one steps to the front and calls out to the guard.
"You know what we're here for. Get moving."
The common is crude and seems rehearsed enough to get the job done.
In this group of five orcs, there is no massive leader loking figure wielding a greataxe who would fit Taylor's description of Onyx.
He would most likely be back at the wagon, as Taylor did mention seeing him atop his horse.
The guard moves off into town a bit to where the mayor and the group of intrepid students are waiting.
As the mayor approaches with Ana close at hand, the orc shakes his head.
"Takes only one Goldie Locks to hand over pouch, unless you handing over people."
He looks back to his four companions.
(clarifications, Wagon has stopped 200 feet from designated perimeter of town. Five orcs on foot have approached, 40 feet from perimeter. They do not seem intent on entering. As Mercy has informed the students, she went out to meet the orcs on the first two occassions.)m
