With a mighty swing (and no one with a higher init to say otherwise), Garor strikes the killing blow, holding back not an ounce.
With one final booming roar of pain, Onyx hits the ground, his blood spilling upon all who stand around him, as if exacting his final revenge.
The orc slavers have been defeated, but they did not go down without a good fight, Each brave student having suffered the most grievous of injuries.
Garor and Askr severely wounded, Ana having been nearly killed and than brought back to good repair with the combined efforts of her allies, new and old.
Noic and Taylor lay upon the ground. Drying blood matted into the dwarf's beard, a crushed arm and shoulder evidence of Taylor's loyalty as he breathes shallowly at Noic's side. A pile of three bloody axes are crossed on the ground between them.
The captives are unchained and released from the cart easily after Onyx's keys are retrieved.
Mercy and Reginald tend to Noic and Taylor and any of the goblins who may be saved, but besides bringing them to consciousness, there is not much more healing left between the two to go around.
Taylor looks to Noic, a smile on his face, glad to see his friend still alive.
He then addresses Ana.
"Sorry I went and did something stupid like you said not to, but he's my friend, and. . ." the boy speaks weakly as he looks at Noic, finding it too much of a strain to continue his sentence.
The loud girl from the cart finally comes into sight as she rushes to Taylor's side.
"I knew you had 'em beat," she says to the group who had worked together to overpower the orcs.
Mercy gathers once more with Ana, Askr, Garor, and Noic.
"Thank you all," she says, "Thank the gods for the fortune which brought you here when it did. Words cannot express my gratitude or that of those in this region. You stood for us when we were too weak, and for that you are truly our heroes. Please, stay and rest as long as you should need."
"I will send scouts to make certain that there are no more orcs in the area, though I am quite certain that this was the whole of their number, and any more will certainly flee now that Onyx is no more."
"We hope one day soon to break this slavery ring for good and locate our region's captive people, but this was more than certainly a huge step in the appropriate direction. Again, let me thank you for your courageous deed."
Mercy places her hand upon each of the students' arms as a final show of sincerity, her touch simultaneously cool and warm.
"Now let us tell the villagers in hiding that all is well, and we must get the wounded to their beds."m
