Marlowe's expression is cold as he stares at Ana.
"I will not tell you if it turns up, because I have not seen it." he snaps.
When Edrianna comes into sight, he shakes his head.
"What, did she lose the ring? I would have figured as much."
Edrianna looks to the group of students gathered and bites down on her lower lip.
Garor takes to exploring with his spell, remembering the ring's aura of magic.
In Edrianna's room, he has no luck. Walking back toward Marlowe's room and standing in the doorway focusing the spells area upon the jeweler, and once more, Marlowe comes up clean. Not a trace of magic to be detected.
As everyone stands gathered outside of Marlowe's room, the red haired barmaid Jade comes into sight, turning the corner and beginning to walk down the hall, but halting at the sight of everyone.
She is nervous, pulling a dishrag through her fingers to keep her hands occupied.
"Ummm. . . Taylor has gotten your horses ready if you are set to go now." she informs the group; however, she does not turn to leave. She simply stands there waiting for the group to depart as her eyes drift toward Marlowe's opened door.

Garor scans her.

"Hm." Anaqualia frowns. (I'm going to assume Garor mentions Marlowe's clean) She scrutinizes Marlowe a moment longer, then sighs a little. "I am mistaken, then. My apologies. I overheard..." She shakes her head and doesn't finish. As apologies go, this definitely ranks as one of her worst, but it will have to suffice. She had been so sure it was Marlowe...
But perhaps it was Jade on her own. She notices Garor checking the barmaid - exactly as she had hoped. She watches both, noting reactions. There is still something going on, and she will get to the bottom of it.

Garor does detect an arua of magic about Jade. With a little focus, he notes a small wooden brooch which she wears, slightly covered by the collar of her blouse. It is carved to look like a bluejay, two small blue feathers serve as wings. (moderate conjuration)

(I'd just like to remind you of the radius of Detect Magic before we continue. It goes out to a 60-ft cone. So Garor's not just scanning the room: he's scanning a circle of radius 60 feet, which is a lot of area. Does anything change?)

I am familiar with the spell and area. Nothing changes.

Garor scowls- and he knows how to scowl. "It's nowhere near here. Or someone who knows how to do it is hiding it. It isn't just lost. It's stolen."
