Examining the perimeters of the town (read info posted last thread.) the lookout towers are not directly beside the trails. Twenty five to thirty feet away, not at all close enough to dump a vat of flaming oil onto the trail. It would likely do more damage to the surrounding shrubbery and grass and threaten the unwanted technicallity of setting Greenvale ablaze.
The towers are tall enough to view the lands, but they are not very large at the top of the spiraling stairs. Only a circle which accommodate two people comfortably.
Both main trails are wide and for the most part, free of any debris or forms of hindering terrain.
Jade directs Askr to the multi functioning town hall where he may speak with the mayor in order to officially gain the support of the town in this risky endeavor.
The mayor is a woman in her early thirties. though it is easy enough for Askr to assume why.

As Ana, Garor, and Noic walk to survey the areas, Taylor is close at hand.
"Should I do anything? I could probably go see if I can find out where those orcs are now. You know, recon."
He makes certain that his uncle is not anywhere in earshot when he suggests this.
Ana sees a few farmhouses with supplies which would be ideal in creating barriers, blockades, or varying forms of cover which could possibly look natural enough not to draw suspicions.
There is a church in the center of town, a small temple which connects to the town hall.
According to Taylor, there are not many guards in this town, about thirty in all, counting volunteers who are likely not very well trained in combat situations. They are all armed to some degree, though only a handful seem familiar with martial weapons. There may be other people who know how to fight, but if they do, they keep it a secret, and Taylor isn't sure.
There are a few smiths in town who keep weapons in stock for hunting purposes and for sale to any adventurous travelers. Crossbows are likely to be available, perhaps even a few longspears, longswords, and daggers.
If Askr manages to gain the support of the mayor, all of this would likely be at the group's disposal at her sayso.
In the meantime, Jade suggests that it might not be the best idea to go around spreading word about fighting the orcs and working everyone up into a state of alarm.
(the group may join Askr in speaking with the mayor)
Marlowe offers up a few vials.
Edrianna walks over with a handful of tindertwigs and her healer's kit and hands them to Ana.
"I don't know if any of this will help, but it is what we have." she says.
Marlowe looks to Edrianna
"Give them the ring," he says.
Edrianna does as he says, procuring the ring and extending her hand to offer it up.
(All may join in the conversation with the mayor. If anyone needs exact measurements for anything let me know. I suck at that kind of stuff so as long as you let me know what you want to do I'm pretty good about getting you to the places you want to be. Also, does anyone take the ring to wear? If so, who?)
