Harknail charged toward the kobold that was sniping at his new squad, issuing his divine challenge as he moved. The might of his blessed blade collapses the poor slinger.
Feeling the pain as he becomes Bloodied Sanem unleashes two arrows at the kobold who hit him. Both arrows strike home, sending the kobolds staggering back, blood leaking from the wounds.
Unfortunately for Sanem, the trap fires at him again
[dice=20]+8 if hit [dice=6]+2 damage and immobalization
With a well aimed dagger, Doran ends the life of another kobolds, before ducking back into the shadows
Merkarn channles the dark fires of his fell patron, fanning the flames with his own hate and rage. The fire proceeds to consume the kobolds, a charred corpse falling to the ground. You take what remains of his life energy to energize himself
[pact boon!] Gabe quickly gets back into the fight, chargeing in and creating an opening for Clark, who unleashes a wave of thunder from his hand, blasting the kobold off it's feet. I bounces twice, and skids to a stop. The kobold does not rise
The kobolds are all taken care of, but there still is the traps to worry about...

After slaying his target, Harknail looked around and didn't see any more living kobolds. but Sanem was still being toasted by a statue. Harknail ran across the room and shoved his shield right up against the visor of the statue, trying to block the darts and give his teammates time to get Sanem out of the way.
Double move to I9, attempt to block trap with shield.

[out of combat? ok]
Sanem uses a healing surge and gains back 1/4 his hp.
[had taken 15 damage total, now i heal 6 of it so i am back to: 15 total.]
Then attempts to make his saving throw to move freely.
[dice=20] its > 10 so he is fine at the beginning of his next round, where he will quickly move out of the sight of the trap, encouraging everyone else to as well.[rand=8114943789018074504698243304673456174641738921396865452595141817]

A few seconds later, there is a thump as the dart impact the shield. As long as no one steps on another trigger plate, you should be fine. OOC: Yay! I didn't know if that trick would work or if it meant that Harknail was automatically hit by the electrical effect of the darts. But either way, it was something Harknail would do IC: While continuing to cover the trap Harknail said, "I think we might want to rest a bit before continuing, perhaps search this room for anything useful. They already know we're coming, we might as well give them time to get bored with waiting for us."

"Agreed," Gabullifax says, still feeling a tad bloody. "Let's take our time to avoid these traps, too. Damned kobolds. Someone keep an eye on the door, though, in case the little lizards want to make another strike."

OOC: Wouldn't inspiring word give more hitpoints? Or can that only be used on others?

Clark sighs in relief as all the kobalds go down, when the group decides to take a moment to rest he agrees, even though not physically hurt, he's a little winded from using attack spells so often.
Carefully avoiding the weird floor panels, and take exceptional care for any panel horizontal a statue, Clark will drag the Kobald bodies towards the back of the room (to around the 15's/16'). "I wonder what Kobalds carry into battle...We can divvy this stuff up later if you'd all like." he says as he begins to rummage through their pockets.
When finished with that, Clark walks over to Gabe, who is resting, "You're pretty good in a fight. I couldn't do what you do, all that up close and personal stuff, I'd be dead if it was me lying on the ground earlier rather than you."

Doran suggests the group put a light sourse on one of the steps of the stairs so that any kobolds coming up them will be well lit while the party rests. Doran will hide in the shadow cast by the light, and keep watch.

OOC: Wouldn't inspiring word give more hitpoints? Or can that only be used on others? [It would. But I've already used 2 Inspiring Words 'this encounter' (meaning the whole Short up to now). Not sure how fast and loose Deekin wants to play with the rules.] Gabe nods approvingly as the others seamlessly make themselves useful, handling the dead bodies or setting up a watch. When Clark approaches, Gabe gives him a nod, too. "Thanks, but I'm not convinced it's my forte yet. You seem to have the magic well in hand, though. Nice blast of thunder there." Gabullifax finds a rag to clean the kobold blood off his glaive, grimacing at it. "Little buggers. Like roaches."

The kobolds don't have much on them, just a few copper piece, ragged armor, and a rusty blades.
However, there is an alter in the corner of that room, dedicated to Tiamat, and there is some stuff on it, including a leather bag, along with a rod of black stone, engraved with silver runes.

While he continued to shield the statue from shooting anyone Harknail suggested, "You might want to check the other niches and maybe even the coffins."
OOC: Well one of the Kobolds died at the alter, so whoever is checking out that kobold is likely to see the bag and rod.

(are we resting for just encounter poers or for entire 8 hour daily rest OOC: I was assuming just an encounter rest so that everyone can recharge hitpoints and encounter abilities before the next encounter. Jumping into the next encounter without that short rest doesn't look like such a good idea in hindsight. Even if Harknail is still has nothing to recover

Oh, hay.
During your rest, you discover the bag has a 100 gp, the Rod is a Rod of Corruption. (Page 239)
Merkarn, it's for you.
Oh, and you all get a second action point.

Harknail is hoping that someone will search the rest of the room. But either way he'll take the lead again when we're ready to move out.
