Scanning about for signs of who or whatever could have done this, Sar and Corvus come to the consensus that the man's attackers are no longer about. There is no one hiding amidst the rocks or around any corners.
Pandoro offers a prayer to his mighty god and provides the man with divine healing.
The man attempts to search around with his eyes for something to wear, and cover up his bare chest and arms.
At Sar's question, he unfolds his tragic tale.
"My name is Erik Frause. I was sent by my Lord to deliver an important message to one of the local magistrates. I was just riding along this path when suddenly I heard a loud BANG. Well it must have spooked my horse, because the next thing I know, I was on the ground surrounded by a gang of fierce kobolds, my horse running off into the distance."
"They took all of my possessions and then took turns hitting me with their fists. And then-and then they hung me up in that tree, the whole time taunting and calling me names."
"I begged them to let me down, but they responded with more taunts as they disappeared out of my sight"
""And then from around that corner just over there, they reappeared, They jumped headlong into the gorge, wings sprouting from their backs. They kept laughing at me the whole time. They flew straight across the ravine, to that cave, there."
The man points to a cave on the far side of the ravine. It would take a few hours travel just to make it there on foot, following this path until it doubles back.
the man's story seems strange, flying kobolds. But there has been a lot of trouble associated with this path these days, most noteable, the center of this kingdom's latest and greatest controversy, the disappearance of the renowned inventor Elmont Kinfeld.
The inventor was visiting from a neighboring kingdom and was reported missing. The other kingdom demands his return, however, this, our adventurers' home kingdom, has yet to track him down. Many fear the worst, though rumors of Kinfeld's whereabouts have been floating around. m
PANDORO has heard that Elmont was kidnapped by the minions of a greedy lord in the kingdom who has heard of the inventor's latest alchemical discovery, the process by which base metals are made into gold.
SAR has heard that two merchants of a family called Reichfort, had a caravan which went missing nearly two weeks ago and that this might somehow be linked with the inventor Kinfeld's disappearance.
FONKIN has heard that Kinfeld was abducted by a vile necromancer to aid in his diabolic scheme (Also, if you're not going to be able to post, please let the DM know that way the spot can be given to someone else who wants to play or dropped completely.)
CORVUS has heard that Kinfeld was taken captive in order to halt his work on a device with enough power to destroy an entire kingdom.
STROM has heard that somehow, the evil wizard, Joseph Badman is responsible. He plans to destroy the kingdom and build Kobold Kondos, sub-gentrifying the countryside. whatever that means.
Whatever the case may be, if these kobolds have anything to do with the inventor's disappearance, the peaceful relations between two once friendly kingdoms could be restored and the talk of impending war over this Elmont Kinfeld could be put to a stop.
Not to mention the fact that there's bound to be a huge reward for whoever can accomplish a feat of that scale.
Erik can point out the cave once more if asked, but he wishes to be moving on to the next city in order to send word to his masters. All he asks for is something to eat and a cloak or something else to wear about his bare torso. He will move on without an escort if his needs are met.
