The day was finally here. The day that you all had been waiting for. Today the entire world would open up for you and your classmates. This day was a day that you would remember for your entire lives.
Today is Graduation Day.
Today you become Genin, junior ninja prepared to take on minor missions for a fee. The Hokage looks on as you stand proudly in front of the school you have toiled in for years. You have shed blood, sweat and tears in this building but, while reluctant to let it go, you are ready to explore the world as shinobi. As your ninja academy teacher, Kiliko Sensei, closes with your head bands your young life flashes before your eyes.
OOC: Give me a paragraph or two about your memories of the academy, observations of the courtyard, or just impatient musings while waiting for your headband. Just trying to further your character's back story and flesh out your personal hardships.

Sanosuke looks about him, taking in his classmates. Unlike virtually everyone else there, there were still a few faces he couldn't quite match to names; having arrived two years late and moved up in grade two years tends to make for something of a disjointed social experience. Despite his focus, however, he'd been as social as he could, and had managed to make a few friends. Still, he wasn't fully a part of the group as any others in this graduating class.
I wonder how Sanji passed? Part of the exam was Bunshin no Jutsu, and I'm fairly confident he didn't know how to do that. Maybe they had a different final for him. Or maybe he just knocked Kiliko silly enough in the sparring session to be seeing double. That would work.
He chuckles privately as he waits for Kiliko to approach him.

Wow that test was tough. but I had to pass it to get aid to find my parents, so it was inevitable. It might have been easier if I had friends to aid me, but no one understands me. How could they? How many of them were left in the care of random strangers so their parents could run off and do what they would?
Seri then remembers some of the people she had been teamed up with. All of them so carefree that they couldn't understand why even the most simple of tests here are life and death. A few of them seemed to understand, but they did not have the strength to stay on. Since I got along with no one I was never in any one group for long, abandoned, much like my parents abandoned me.
"I showed them, I need no other. I will make my way in life on my own if I have to!"

Finally! Now we get to go out and test our skills in the real world! I've struggled through a lot of problems with the tests, but now I can prove my worth as a shinobi warrior!
Sanji cast a look over at the students who had mocked him years before. Now I'll show 'em! They thought their fancy ninjutsu tricks were cool... they ain't seen nothing yet! I'm gonna be famous!
Maybe I'll impress my teammates, too!

You receive your head bands with honor, looking proudly at the kanji engraved on the iron plate that rested in the center of the navy blue cloth. The other students strap on their headbands proudly, some placing them on their traditional forehead and others tying it around their arms.
The time comes for the students to be split up into groups. Ninja squads traditionally consisted of three Genin, two ninja and a kinoichi. You idly wonder who you'll be grouped with as the sensei begins calling out names.
"Nanjito, Ori, Kasaka."
A thin kid wearing a solid black jumpsuit with a matching mask splits off from the main bunch to stand with an average looking guy with a black ponytail and a brown haired kinoichi with the intimidating gaze of Byakugan.
"Maru, Kenji, Ami."
A tall girl, tallest in the class, separates and is joined by two identical boys apparently twins. The two high-five when they meet, causing their impressive array of shuriken and kunai to jingle.
"Sunshi, Hejin, Tanaka"
A stout swordsman takes his place alongside a short boy and a petite girl carrying a parasol.
"Sonosuke, Sanji, Seri"
Finally your turn, you split from the rest of the pack and meet up with your squad. You all take a moment to size each other up looking for both strengths and flaws.
OOC: Now a couple paragraphs about your squadmates or maybe some dialog. Maybe a bit about the other squads features or observations. Don't forget to include where you decided to wear your headband, as it is highly symbolic and one of the best things to happen in your young life.

Sanosuke recieves his headband with a wide smile and a great deal of pride, but not the ecstatic happiness those who knew him well might expect. It's a wonderful, powerful symbol- but ultimately, just that. I have always known I was a ninja; I would be a ninja naked, with no shuriken, kunai, explosive tags or forehead protector. I require no one's acknowledgement or validation to know who I am. He keeps grinning. Still, it feels good. He puts the forehead protector on in the standard way, and watches as the groups are chosen. ... I'll play a game. What can I learn about each of my classmates just from what I see here, ignoring everything I've learned about them?
"Nanjito, Ori, Kasaka." Nanjito; Black jumpsuit and a mask, indicating fascination with deception or concealment. Genjutsu specialist. Kasuka: As a Hyuuga, a Taijutsu- specifically a Juuken- specialist until proven otherwise. Ori: Few useful visual cues. Use induction and situational ones. In a squad with a genjutsu specialist and a taijutsu specialist; either a ninjutsu specialist or a generalist. That's assuming an effort was made to balance aptitudes, which is logical but not a given.
"Maru, Kenji, Ami." The twins betray little beyond the obvious; a great deal of equipment, good chemistry, and likely complimentary skill sets. The girl is interesting; based on her size I'd initially say taijutsu-user, but growing up big tends to leave one with less than complete confidence in one's dexterity, which would argue against that.
"Sunshi, Hejin, Tanaka" Swordsmen admit a great many counter-tactics. Based on his size, infighting and grappling are out, and disarming is iffy; but that still leaves outfighting with something longer and attacking from range, and makes an attack in an enclosed space an extremely tempting prospect. The parasol is interesting. Perhaps it catalyzes or synergizes with wind-based or air-based ninjutsu. The short one's an X-factor, but unarmed taijutsu can be tentatively ruled out. Let's see, that leaves...
"Sonosuke, Sanji, Seri." Not a bad team. Our skillsets complement each others' nicely. Sanji has an irritating tendancy to solve problems without actually thinking about them, using the same damn tools against wildly dissimilar challenges- but the important part is that he -solves- them, and he's not actually unlikable. Seri- well- a bit of a cold fish, really, but I don't have anything against the work she does, and-nn. Competent we may be, but I'll really have to work at it to make friends.
Of course, while an interesting and really quite useful exercise, I *do*, after all, know these people. I've trained with them for quite a while. Let's see how I did.
(Taking 10 on Well-Informed Gather Information checks for every genin present, as well as Assessment Sense Motive checks. DC 19 and 20 achieved respectively. Please PM me the info.)

Sanji places his headband in a slightly crooked fashion on his forehead. He sizes up his teammates and figures he drew a good straw on this deal. He can see that these two are pretty seasoned in ninjutsu and genjutsu (which is a good thing, considering he has none!).
He then glances on towards the other groups, and figures the main groups to worry about are: the group with the twins (they probably have some cool tag team moves!) and the group with the swordsman. They're just intimidating!
"Hi! You guys ready for some fun?" Sanji asks, with his usual low tone.

In all serious-ness Seri takes her headband, and puts it on in the proper fashion. With a bow to the Kanji and Ninja, she turns and walks away without a word.
Once teams are called she simply walks toward her two new teamates, Sanji and Sanosuke. Sanji seems to be little but a joker, wonder how he passed the tests... But pass them he did so looks may be decieving. Sanosuke... look at him already studying the competition, he is one i will get to like, business minded.
With a glance at the other teams she dismisses them entirely. The don't matter, if they get in our way they will be punished, if they stay out of my path they are nothing but insects.
"We are to team then? Fine so be it, you know my name, but you will call me Seri. I have a goal to achieve, and 'fun' is not it."

Sanosuke smiles that secret half-smile of his. "Certainly we have goals to achieve, but there's nothing to say we can't have fun along the way. Enjoying your job is both healthy and helpful; in a line of work where you put your life on the line daily, it's pobably neccesary to keep from going a little crazy. I'm not going to make you do anything you don't want to do. Your way is your own- but do me a favor and don't object when Sanji and I start enjoying ourselves, OK, Seri?"

"Don't worry. Although I seem all action-oriented, I assure you guys that I will try not to be reckless during the missions." Sanji replies. He tries to talk with a more serious undertone, realizing that he still needs to work on his social skills.
"Any idea who our sensei will be?"

"Have your fun, try to not be reckless, whatever, but do nothing to cause problems for our missions. First and foremost is the task we must accomplish, secondary may come your goal of 'Enjoying yourself,'" Seri says with a straight face.

...I suppose that's the best I'm going to get out of her, isn't it? Sanosuke gives Seri only a nod, and turns to Sanji to answer his question.
"Well, you're all about taijutsu, Seri is a medic-nin, and I'm a generalist. Whoever they are, they're likely to be either a genjutsu or ninjutsu specialist... On second thought, scratch that. The squads' genin seem to have been chosen to provide a balance of skill, but that won't neccesarily be the case for the jounin- they're supposed to *teach* us as much as than work with us, so it wouldn't make sense for them to have a separate specialty even if it would be complimentary. We'll just have to wait and see."
Unless I miss my guess, they'll pick someone vivacious, outgoing and social. The biggest roadblocks facing us seem to be less about skill or discipline than team chemistry. The elements are good, but we lack a lynchpin.
(OOC: Wow, our squad is alliterative.)

A man appears in a blast of smoke, as if answering your question. He wears the traditional green of a leaf village Jonin as well as a pair of slick black shades. A pair of sleek nunchaku hang on his belt and a lopsided grin appears on his face.
"So this is the best the academy can put out nowadays?" he asks in subtle barotone "Aw well, I guess this is what I've got to work with then. I'm Sensei Giroh, and you three are now my students."

(Did the crack about us being all he had to work with seem humorous or serious in nature? The exact manner that comment was delivered with will be very relevent to my response to it. Also, GI check on Giroh: [dice=20]+9)[rand=525632765902236275142631248009370793047562617324426480913924104]

I am terribly sorry, but I am going to have to shut this game down for a few weeks, until everything settles down a bit in the RL.
I'm graduating from high school on Fri and just won't have time to GM 2 games at the same time. As stated before, my mom was remarried in Feb and we are currently moving between 2 houses(1 with internet and 1 without) and its been really hard to staple down some posting time.
I appreiciate everyone's patience in my AGA and i'll let you know that because I slacked off there, I won 7,500 $ in renewable scholarships with more on the way should I get fafsa and teachers loan money. Again you guys are the best and expect updates in all sections of a great awakening really soon.
