SEA GREEN
Gro-bug presents his plan to the lizardfolk, suggesting that the companions draw out the Deathspeakers’ forces, and then lay waste to them as a group before word can get back to the fort. With their numbers reduced, surely they can take the rest.
The ‘People’ seem… dubious. They speak quickly amongst themselves in another rush of peculiar, natural sounds. Ultimately it is the red-skinned warrior that speaks for them. “These five have a better plan than the people. The people cannot be seen for the callers’ sake. If these five can draw Speakers and minions out of Home, the people will be glad to help fight.”
The deep-voiced, earthy Scalander interrupts the harsh red. “But these five must be cautioned: there are many enemies in Home. Dozens upon dozens. This plan will take time.”
However, barring any other input, the Scalanders seems ready and willing to help out. They suggest the scorched clearing as a good place the lead and pursuing Deathspeakers to, for as the Red explains, “Here the fires have already burned.” Whatever that means.
Should the group wish, it is easy enough to find the village again, with its makeshift walls and high watches patrolling the edge, the trees thinner, easier to see through. Poised at the edge, they can make their move to attract attention—or else come up with an alternate plan.
[Pause for specifics. Also, only had two replies, so I thought I’d give a chance to confirm the plan before diving ahead. This is what I understood you to mean, Wicksy, let me know if it’s off.]

The different members of the team have many things they wish to talk about, but all swiftly agree that it must be taken somewhere out of the public eye. Gildas suggests the Temple of St. Cuthbert, which would be a logical destination even if it weren’t part of their clever plan to deceive the Deathspeakers. With some effort, Wystfalrun manages to wave off the University staff and assure them that he can make it to the Temple on his own and seek aid there.
When the group arrives, Lockheart is quick to head to his superiors even without Gildas’s bidding. “They won’t be happy,” he says, “But they’ll understand the wisdom of it. We’ll use the time to make sure the innocents are out of the line of fire. We have a hospice here, and it would do no good to put those people in danger.” Directing the group to a quiet, cloistered chamber, Lockheart then rushes off to tend to these preparations.
Wanderer finds a corner and sits there with the Skullsplitter, frowning over it as he cleans and polishes it—as if the magical weapon even needed such care.
Lenny soon explains that he has spoken to the curator and smoothed things over marginally, but Gildas quickly dismisses that plan. The dean, as he explains, seems a far more reliable ally, and the group is already in the throes of that plan at any rate. Surely Deathspeakers have heard from Fairchild where they will be staying—if they didn’t suspect it already—and the mention of a bone will be all the more enticing. If that doesn’t tempt the Deathspeakers, what will? Gildas explains that once the Deathspeakers are caught in their act, the city will turn against them, and it will be simple enough to kick them out—and then the Tertians can seek out the bone at Mordrock University, unhindered.
Wanderer nods from the corner. He seems satisfied with the plan.
Though Wystfalrun has yet to tell the group precisely what he and Norven encountered while following the trio of scholarly Deathspeakers.
[You can assume Wystfalrun will relate what transpired—followed them, got attacked, several of them escaped, Norven pursued but has not returned—if Ryngo doesn’t manage to post in this update.
Unless there is reason to do otherwise, the next update will get on with the evening, and the results of the plan.]
