[If you’re taking items, please update your character sheets with the relevant items. Daggers are Str+1 damage, 19-20/+3 Crit, slashing/piercing, 10’ range. Heavy Crossbows are +3 damage, 19-20/+3 Crit, piercing, 120’ range. Battleaxe (requires weapon training to use properly) is Str+3 damage, 20/+4 Crit, Slashing. Spear is Str+3 damage, 2-handed, 19-20/+4, 20’ range Leather Armor is +1 Toughness (and -1 Acrobatics, Athletics, Stealth, Sleight of Hand) I forgot to mention the Bandit Leaders wear Studded Leather (+2/-2), if anybody wants that instead. Note that anybody using armor without the Armor Training feat suffers that same penalty to all Str and Dex-based checks, including attack rolls.] Those willing to do so help Elric with moving the bodies off to the side of the road—the guards are happy to assist when they have patched themselves up, and some of the others lend a hand. The two surviving bandits are likewise dealt with, the one that surrendered is tied to the back of the wagon alongside the surviving bandit leader—once he comes to a while later. The surviving brother doesn’t look at all happy with his captivity, but he says nothing, directing most of his glares at the other bandit and at Elric. Thomas lingers back by the prisoners to make sure they stay in line, his longsword near at hand.
The body of Gregory is given more care, and though it makes travel in the wagon awfully cramped, the body is moved there, once his wounds no longer ooze blood. His horse is taken up by James per Elric’s command, leaving Joost and Helmut on the wagon. Any passengers must share close quarters with the dead, or else take to walking the rest of the way. [That’s Amalric, Rupert, Tawno, and Arnaud.] The rest of the day’s travel passes uneventfully, and by nightfall, the group has made it to a small clearing in the forest that looks well-used by travelers on the road. A modest inn sits some distance off the road with a couple of houses erected beside it—loggers by the look of things, no doubt with a mill some distance into the woods. A dead campfire or two attests to those that have chosen to forego the inn. The Spring nights are not very cold this close to the Kaiserstuhl, and the weather is still fair for the time being, though Joseph senses a subtle change on the winds. Rain may be coming in the next day.
The inn looks inviting, warm lights glowing from within. There is ample money in the Covenant’s supply for a cheap night’s stay for all, or at least for the magi, though the prisoners were not factored into these initial plans.(Character Status) Amalric – Normal Arnaud – Normal Elric – Normal [Mounted] Jakob – Normal [Mounted] Joseph – Normal [Mounted] Rupert – Normal Tawno – Normal Isabeau – Normal

Not wanting to walk the trail nor ride alongside the dead, Arnaud split his time between the two, switching when one became more tedious than the prospect of the other.
During their travels, the troubadour’s thoughts focused on the unlikely group. What a strange assemblage this was- no one appeared to be friends with another. The nearest camaraderie he could note was between the two magi, and the Captain and his guards. Even then these seemed more out of necessity and protocol than genuine companionship. The tale of this journey would be interesting and unorthodox to say the least, and Arnaud spent much of his travel time milling over how to fit this into his eventual composition, and how it would affect future outcomes.
As the group approached the clearing and debated where to rest, Arnaud sought the magi. “As I’ll not be zleepeeng in zee wilds, I plan to offair my zervicees as an eentairtaineur for ze eeveening in eexchange for a room at zee een. I can try to neegoteeiate a lowair fee for all, if you weesh.”

Joseph says to Amalric and Elric, "If you wish to goto the inn, I can stay out here and watch the prisoners... I just ask for some of the guards to stay with me, they will be the ones to stay at the inn on the way back."

Jakob cares naught what happens with the prisoners; only that the contingent of guardsmen keeps them safe till the proper authorities can be involved.
Given the chance Jakob will partake in a warm dinner and a beer before making camp for himself in the nearby woods. He will not spurn company, but will not go out of his way to include anyone either.

“I can try to neegoteeiate a lowair fee for all, if you weesh.” Amalric waits for the man to finish, "Yes, we have coin for a room if one is available, it would be best if myself and Joseph retire early to prepare for the journey ahead. The innkeeper may be more amenable to your request if you bring paying customers with you, and the guards will welcome the warm food."

Rupert, after having walked around in his new armor for at least an hour, constantly trying to shift its weight and loosen its straps, finally decides that it is not worth the effort: armor was not for him, and he finally unstraps it and tosses it in the bushes by the road. He keeps his crossbow though, as he's rather fond of it.
When approaching the inn, Rupert awaits the decision of the others, preparing to take the horses under his care and trying to find out if there is a good stable at this inn. He too would not hesitate to get a warm dinner and some drink - even alcohol - but when he noticed that apparently, some where planning on staying outside for the night, he doubted what to do himself. Finally, he decided to tag along with Jakob, who apparently was planning on setting up some sort of camp in the woods - a far more exciting prospect to be sure.
As he tags alongside Jakob, he finally speaks to the man after having been 'stalking' him for some time: "Need some help? I can make a fire, or gather wood, or search for a good shelter, or..." Rupert suddenly changes the subject, showing his new weapon: "What'ya think of m' new crossbow? Took it from the guy in the tree, after cuttin' his throat! Look, his blood's still on ma clothes!"

Tawno walks alongside the others until they approach the inn, refusing to share the wagon with a corpse. T’is accurst to share the Way with a dead man, went the Romany teaching, a man should be buried where he fell. The corpse should nourish mother nature, in the wilds or in a graveyard, did it matter? Though she kept shut among the crowd, who were possibly devout followers of the church.
When the Magi explained that they would sleep in the Inn while the others camped in the open, she just sticked around the others. Had she not been impaled by a spear some hours ago, she would offer to dance for their crowd in exchange for a room and possibly another for the others with the tips. But she was tired, and was in no mood for entertainment.
If there is talk around the campfire, she offers to tell fates to the guardsmen. If they agree, she mostly tells them about their bright future as great soldiers, complimenting their glorious achievements and brave deeds to come. She knows that high-spirits is what keeps the common-soldier fighting, and thinks the men deserved praise after the fight with the brigands.

Elric will have the guards watch the prisoner while he and the troubadour go to get the rooms. Two guards per room with one keeping watch over their prisoners. Elric will share a room with the dead man, a reminder of his failure to lead. He allows the others to take what accommodations they wish, but reminds them that the Covenant has asked them to tag along on this trip so they are covered by the Magi's coin if they wish.
Elric will get a meal for the prisoners and take the first watch so his men may eat together. Wary to not be taken by surprise, he makes sure the prisoners are bound by their legs and not allowed anything that could be used as a weapon when they eat. He asks them, "Was that your MO on the road? You leave an overturned cart to hide in and demand a toll from everyone that passes, or was today just special?"1.9.0.8
