(OOC)
Elric, Amalric-
Though the words form in his head, Elric directs his reply to the bird in front of him, eliciting a strange look from Joost. But the guardsman says nothing, perhaps accustomed to the strange happenings that seem to happen around the magi—or their beasts.
Amalric receives the response clear enough, for as the guard captain speaks the words, so too do they manifest in his head—a mental reply all the same. He doesn’t appear especially concerned about being a wanted criminal, and professes his intent to return to the inn and lie low—which apparently includes going to church on the morrow, despite it all.
Elric covers his face and makes his way discreetly towards the inn, Isabeau presumably guiding him.
[Feel free to continue the mental discussion, else you can assume Elric will arrive without incident.]
All except Elric-
The rest of the Covenant’s people stand discussing the troubling matter of the warrant for Elric, and ultimately Arnaud volunteers to make his way to the guard post with one or two others to determine the nature of the bounty on Elric. A small quarrel ensues between Rupert and Tawno, no love lost between the small boy and the peculiar gypsy—but in the end both will accompany the troubadour, leaving Jakob, Joseph, and Amalric to await Elric’s return, along with the rest of the Covenant’s guards.
[Any more plans/conversation before Elric returns?]
Arnaud, Rupert, Tawno-
Arnaud manages to keep the bickering to a minimum on the way to the town’s guardhouse, a building that is roughly in the center of town, built rather like a small keep—probably supposed to act as a fallback point if the city should be attacked, if people are unable to head to the actual castle high atop a nearby hill, visible from all parts of Freiburg.
The gates are open at present, there being no need for careful defense, and a building just inside the walls almost assaults a visitor by its sheer proximity. Surely this is the place common people are meant to go, and indeed, the glance of a nearby guard confirms that moving much further within the keep would be ill-advised. Arnaud leads his small procession into the building.
It’s a long, simple structure, one floor, with a small desk, fireplace, a few armaments hanging about, and a door leading further back for who-knows-what purpose. Probably some holding cells, though a proper prison is likely elsewhere on the premises, perhaps even underground. A man in a leather cuirass sits at the table and looks up at your approach, grunting as if he expects trouble. He has been writing some notes on a sheaf of parchment, but sets the quill aside to regard you. “Yes, what’s your business?” he asks in a voice edged with fatigue. It is late, after all.

Excellent roleplay, folks! I’m glad to see the interactions, even if it’s mostly squabbling.
