(OOC)
All-
Plans are made and duties assigned—it becomes rapidly clear that Elric should stay put to avoid endangering the others, with Amalric’s Isabeau to watch over him. Meanwhile the magi and the others can go on to the market to attend to the Covenant’s business of buying and selling goods—the first of two purposes in coming here, to Freiburg.
As the group prepares to leave, Elric tells Joost to take what money the captain has and give it to the priest there, and to attend Gregory’s services. The guardsman appears confused, or perhaps worried. “Didn’t he want all of us to be there?” he says, recalling the priest’s words. But he doesn’t argue any more than that, heading off to the church to try and ply the priest with coin.
Thomas soon appears as well, apparently having gone ahead of the group. “I found a good place in the market to use as a base,” he says. “We can set up like other vendors, keep someone back to sell while we go about buying among all the other stores. Come on!”
[whisper=Badasterysk,TheUdjat]It occurs to Arnaud that Thomas is strangely eager and anxious to get the vending underway. The man has always been a bit passionate in expressing himself on the road, but this seems different.[/whisper]
Soon enough, Thomas leads the Covenant into the market square, where business is already well underway. The Covenant’s wagon finds a spot in one corner of the square, where the remaining three guards soon take up positions to discourage would-be thieves and others, frowning menacingly at those that don’t appear to be interested in bartering.
The others are left to their own devices. Tawno and Arnaud, no doubt, will take the lead in buying and selling with Amalric at hand to advise them, but far enough away to cause as little discomfort to patrons as possible. Indeed, the magi are forced to fairly remove themselves from all dealings, lest the Gift make this a truly insurmountable ordeal. James stays near them to play bodyguard as needed.
With nothing in particular to attend to, Rupert and Jakob are free to do as they like, perhaps browsing the market for their own purposes. The street urchin is looked on suspiciously wherever he goes, of course—when he’s spotted. Rupert finds it easy to blend in with the crowd and be unseen, though this becomes difficult the closer he gets to any stands. Jakob, on the other hand, sticks out like a sore thumb—a woodsman out of his element.
Back at the inn, Elric sits in a dark corner and stews, unhappily reduced to skulking and hiding. Isabeau keeps an eye on him, perched outside a window overlooking the young captain. The inn is dreadfully dull in the morning, though occasionally a fellow traveler will set for a spell and break his fast, only to be on his way soon enough.
Eventually Elric’s continued presence attracts the attention of a young serving girl. Her clothes have been well-used and she could to have a fresh wash bin to clean the grease off of her hands, but she is otherwise quite pretty beneath the signs of her work. She approaches Elric for what must be the third or fourth time this quarter-hour—far more than service would necessitate. “Can I get m’lord anything?” she asks a little demurely.

[Okay, a bit hard to follow the planning here, but I have Elric hanging back at the inn to hideout with Isabeau keeping an eye on him while pretty much everyone else heads with the wagon to go buy/sell as planned. Joseph wanted to stay with the guards, but as the guards are supposed to be guarding the wagon, that’s where they’re going. Except Joost, apparently.]
