Case Report by Agent Marcus:[/u]
The following journal was found at the scene, I will do my best to transcribe the information accurately.
It's now 3AM and David hasn't moved for over an hour...
His head is approximately three feet in diameter and the skull has become as soft and pliable as tissue paper. I wonder if he has any senses at all for he does not respond to painful stimuli. I came to that conclusion after drawing blood with the sharp end of my scalpel from his forearm.
David first came to me a little over a week ago, seeking money for tuition, as most college kids do. That's why I placed the ad, to find students. People no one would miss if they never returned. There are enough student "pressure-related" suicides every year that when they find David's body, it will actually seem like a shotgun blast instead of what it truly is.
I first found these organisms during a trip to Egypt with my Anthropology class is my college days. A good friend of mine at the time, Beth, was with me. Beth and I had exchanged flirts and little notes, as young singles usually do, and before the trip we had become quite skilled at consumating our relationship in the bedroom. Regardless, during this trip we found ourselves "lost" from the rest of the tour, taking winding passage after winding passage until we were successfully seperated and alone.
Just the way we wanted it...
I'm not sure why Beth wanted to try to perform sexual acts in an ancient pyramid, but I was young and male...in no position to argue. As we stumbled into a dusty tomb filled with antideluvian artifacts from the Pharoh's reign, we began to fool around. During the commotion, Beth knocked a small, insignificant urn of the shelf and fell to the ground near it as it shattered. She inhaled some of the dust and began coughing violently.
I instantly covered my face and helped her to her feet. Although I was laughing, she was suddenly struck with a violent headache. We made our way back to the group, but not before I managed to scrape a large sample of the dust into a jar for examination later.
I helped Beth get to the hotel and watched her die over the next few days...horribly.
Something grew within her head. I say something because at the time I did not know what it was, now I do. The beast that gestated in her head and eventually burst forth in a violent spray of blood and bone is a weapon. After the death of my college lover, the scientist in me took over. Using anthropology skills, I deciphered many eludances to the weapon in heiroglyphs and writings of the ancient race. Here's what I have found:
It was brought here by an extraterrestial race. Actually, more correctly, it is an extraterrestial race. The race came here and nearly wiped out the entire area between the Tigris and Euphrates river. The Pharoh at the time had wrestled control of this epidemic by walling off the city and killing the first born of every citizen within...just to be sure. Hence the biblical reference to this event.
This is about the same time that mummification became popular in the area. It was believed that even after death, the organism could grow within the confines of the skull and no one wanted their body violated in such a manner. So all organs within the skull were removed and the head and body wrapped in cloth to prevent the dust from touching the body. Strange how such rituals come about...
Regardless, back to the weapon. I say weapon becuase to humans, exposure and inhilation of the organism is lethal. Once it gains root within the brain and begins to gestate, the only way to prevent the birth of the creature is to kill the host. Once born, the creature is actually quite harmless for a short time.
When born it looks very similiar to a spider. Eight legs, lacking any bone structure or strength manage to pull the creature out of the ruptured skull of the victim. Perhaps I should more accurately call them tentacles. It is a blue-violet color, visible even under the coating of crimson from the skulls' remains. Five eyes of jet black and and thin mouth grace the front of the creature, denoting a face of sorts. Actually, something within me wants to call these creatures...'cute'.
I made the mistake of letting the creature grow for the purposes of study and it nearly cost me my life. The creature gains intelligence and power quickly, perhaps becoming dangerous within hours of birth. I managed to kill the recent adult I had in my workshop with a shovel, but it did
The journal is a bit difficult to read at this point. Blood smears and mucus bits prevent accurate translation, so I will omit it.
So this will be my weapon...
A finite powder, refined from Egytpian science, that millions of unsuspecting people will inhale and die from days later. I will become inordinantly wealthy, selling it to the highest bidder!!
I will be the man responsible for brining humanity to it's knees...
For now I must go, the gestation period for David's skull has been overdue for a few hours...and I must not have heard the typical 'pop' associated with the creature freeing itself. I will write more once I kill the newborn.
The journal ends abruptly here. Once arriving on the scene, I found two bodies. On lying on a operating table with an obscenely large head...or most of it. The head was well over the size of a small trashcan but the top was scattered across the walls of the basement in a fashion suggesting nothing less than explosion.
The second body was near the other, in the basement. I was only able to locate approximately forty percent of the carcass but evidence of finger nail scratches on the stair railing indicate that the victim was struggling against something pulling it back into the basement. The remainder of the body appears to be completely...devoured, for lack of a better word. Teeth marks that go through even the thick femur bones are littered across the carcass. Several digits and limbs were seperated and have not been located.
I will leave this case open until a resolution can be found.
