Sehanine - With a quick glance you begin to size up the army in your head...your mind filling quickly with thoughts.
Well organized...unnatrually so for normally dim-witted kobolds and goblins.
About five to one with undead and orcs...meaning there are few undead and leaders for this army.
They appear to be readying for an assault...seemingly for some unknown reason, but commonly shared.
The ghouls begin to frantically sniff the air and you decide at this point, you've had enough reconnaissance for the night. You leap from your position and begin to race for the Freehold.
{Spot Checks, Ghouls: Two success. Listen checks for other 2: One success.}
Although you did so quickly and with little warning, you only manage to surprise one ghoul.
{Initiative: Ghoul 1, You, Ghoul 2, Ghoul 2. In a surprise round, the fourth ghoul does not act.}
The first ghoul, snarling and growling like a ravenous dog, nearly reduces to all fours and gallops across the plains towards you.
{30 ft. from trees, easily closes to threaten.}
You are left, facing a horrible undead creature...with more coming from the woods in seconds...
{Alright Sehanine, you are threatened by a ghoul now, which means leaving his area will incur an Attack of Opportunity. The other two will close this round as well. You can stay and fight, or try to run...}

Romar - Húna does not stop easily...you know this. There must be something that frightens the horse in the darkness of the woods...something you cannot see.
However, peering into the woods, you see nothing that should frighten Húna. There are some smaller troops, kobolds mostly, with an occasional dark figure in the rear. They have no defenses prepared as they are in the process of moving to encircle the keep.
Then you spot it...
Two kobolds walking by themselves that Húna could easily jump. You spur on, pulling your sword and readying to charge over the two small kobolds. There are a few larger, dark figures in the woods, but you can deal with them later.
{Ride Check, Romar}
Húna is moving at break-neck speed and the kobolds are clueless to your approach. In fact, is only when the steam from Húna's breath hits them that they even know a horse is upon them. Húna clears them easily in one leap, knocking one kobold unconscious as the hoof catches it in the head on the way over.
You ride into the woods, wishing you had some light...even a little.
As though the gods themselves answer your prayers, a single point of light, like a tear-drop of illumination, falls quickly from the sky.
{Girud, Attack Roll = 19} {Damage Roll = 7}
The point of light falls straight into the chest of an orc, deeper in the woods, illuminating the surrounding area as the orc falls to the ground...you can now see where you're going...for a short time at least.
{Yuri, Attack Roll = 15} {Damage Roll = 4}
Another arrow falls dead into the chest of a kobold, striking it dead as it gurgles to the ground lifelessly. Another step earned...you silently thank those in the Freehold as they rain death in a path for you to leave.
{Caelith, Attack Roll = 24[crit confirm: Crit!} {Damage Roll = 21}
Another orc, that nearly stepped towards you and brought his blade to bear, catches an arrow in the temple and spins around to the ground, his life draining quickly from his wound.
{Hero, Attack Roll = 11}
Another arrow, misses its target and strikes the ground, startling a nearby kobold...still a clear path. You're nearly there.
{Galdren, Attack Roll = 9}
Another arrow falls...still a clear path.
{Krysta, Attack Roll = 13} {Damage Roll = 4}
The last kobold in your path, catches an arrow to the shoulder and fall the ground, whimpering in pain.
The scene is left in your wake as you ride straight through the woods, letting Húna guide you quickly. The point of light is behind you and you're relying on Húna's senses to guide you.
It is only when Húna begins to snort wildly during her charge that you realize something is wrong...She runs faster than you ever thought possible but that doesn't seem to be fast enough for the horse. She snorts and whines, afraid of something. You glance to the sides and behind you.
{Spot Check, Romar}
There, in the woods to your right, only a mere ten feet away from you is figure, dark and clad in flowing cape...
...running along side you...
The figure shows every sign of being able to keep pace with the horse...and has Húna scared beyond belief.
