If Galdren can see the vampire that Romar is fighting, he immediately drops his bow, draws his daisho, and runs out to aid Romar. If not, then he goes to help Sehanine.
{Sorry, you can't. Romar has been riding at full speed on horseback for nearly 2-3 rounds now...he's gone from view of all in Freehold. So I will have you leave the Freehold and go help Sehanine as per your post.}
{Also guys, try to remember to post your modifiers for battle: shots, strikes etc... It helps me out immensely.}
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Callian, Garor and Newt - The people of Freehold seem vaguely renewed with vigor. Going about the relatively remedial tasks you have set before them. The shrapnel bombs are being constructed, the children are learning to fight...although you doubt they would be any good and the wells are now purified with the power of the gods...
Hopefully it's a start to a successful defense, but you can't help thinking that if Romar is not swift...the Freehold will fall.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hero lowers her crossbow to the rampart to steady it, firing a shot across the glade into the darkness, hoping to hit an undead creature with a bolt. {Attack Roll = 23 [Crit. Confirm Roll, Fail] } Although straight and true, the bolt catches a bit of an updraft that prevents it from striking dead into the center of a ghouls temple. {Damage Roll = 5}
Ghoul 4 is injured.
Sehanine, sensing the oncoming support, stands her ground and brings her blade to bear, hoping to dig into undead flesh. {Attack Roll = 13} The blade barely misses the nearest horrible undead...bad luck seems to reign in this battle. You hope it is not a trend with Freehold itself.
Yuri rushes to the ramparts to aid his friend and companion. {Attack Roll = 13} The bolt falls short of the battle, striking into the ground.
The ghouls seem filled with an urgency and excitedness...they can sense the fresh meat coming across the field. {Attack Rolls, Ghoul2 = 22 [crit confirm, fail] 19, 11} {Damage Rolls = 7,3 Total=10}
{Unless I'm mistaken...that's 18 total, with your 15 natural HP, you're at -3 }
As you fall to the ground...you catch a glimpse of four figures running to your aid with blades out and ready to avenge you.
{Sit tight Sehanine...you're not done yet...}
The other ghouls rush across the field, {Ghoul 4 and 3} snapping and snarling for the four large meat dishes that come running their way...
Krysta shouts her words of encourgement as she draws back on her bow, loosing an arrow into the night sky. {Attack Roll = 17} {Damage Roll = 2} The arrow strikes the ghoul in the arm.
Ghoul2 is lightly injured.
The archers begin to file along the wall, bringing quills and bows to the ready. They line up, prepared to fire.
{Spot checks, everyone. Hero, The Archers, Galdren, Girud Success}
One of the archers on the wall gasps slightly as he draws his bow back. You can hear him barely mutter.
"By the gods..."
Looking ahead to the treeline the ghouls rushed forth from, you can see that dozens of dark figures have filled the treeline and prepare to rush forth.
Those on the ground are about to be ambushed...
{Initiative: Hero, Girud, Yuri, Galdren, Ghoul 2 and Ghoul 4, The Archers, Krysta, Ghoul 3, Balin and Callian, The Ambushers.}
{Those on the ground have closed to threaten Ghoul 3 and Ghoul 4 as they have moved across the field to meet you. Sehanine is still 30 ft. from the treeline, 100 ft. from the keep. The other with the ghouls are 60ft. from the treeline, 70 ft. from the keep. The ambushers are in the treeline.}
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Romar - Rushing through the trees, being whipped by the branches and leaves you race past, you look over to the vampire.
He is still there...racing beside you.
You wave your sword and shout your warnings.
"You fiend! Stay away from me!"
The vampire doesn't seem to listen as he lunges again for the horse. {Attack Roll = 24} {Opposed Ride Check = 23} Although you try to move the horse in time...the vampire manages to strike the horse hard. {Damage Roll = 11}
{Opposed Grapple Checks = 14 Vs. 18}
Húna manages to shake the vampire from her neck as she races, keeping him from drinking the blood that pumps hard through her neck...however the last strike was damaging to say the least.
You have gone through the dense forest and burst into the relatively open area of the plains beyond...only a few trees dot the lands around you.
The vampire remains with you...smiling with the glee of 'The Hunt'...
