Garor, Newt, Hero, Callian, Caelith and Angelus - King Sturmguard and his advisors wish you well on your journeys, the king imparting these last words of confidence.
"Those in Morten should be more than willing to help you with papers proving your servitude to me."
"May the gods be with you in these dark times, the lands can ill afford to lose any more heroes."
You leave the great city of Ravenshead, through the massive gates on horses to the small town of Morten beyond. {Should anyone need to procure something, let me know.}
You begin to think about what is commonly known about Morten. Seen as a necessary city to hold for the Blackwing Kingdom, Sturmguard has taken ample precautions to ensure it remains safe. It is a large exporter of steel and ore for the weapons that have kept Ravenshead soldiers in the fight thus far.
Morten is known for little else, at least that is commonly known about the town.
Your ride is short and unhindered, the cold grasp of 'The Master' unable to reach this far into the territory of the humans. It is not long, in fact a few hours before sunset, that you see the broad walls and spiked ramparts of the metal-producing city.
You see a guard atop the wall, his dark silhouette moving along the ramparts, motion to the other guards as he sees your approach. When you near enough, you can tell he is a human, perhaps only a bit older than twenty, and dressed as the captain of the guard. He calls out to your party from atop the wall.
"Who goes there?"
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Krysta, Girud and Galdren - It isn't long before the familar sounds of metal shovels clinking in the dirt begins to resonate through the stone caverns once more, but there's something different about it now. It seems...happier. As though the diggers are led with a purpose, rather than the foreboding thought of imminent death and resurrection to work in the afterlife.
The elven prince himself sheds his combat gear and take his shovel, digging right along side former prisoners. This seems to please them greatly and they take an immediate liking to him.
The digging goes on...
Krysta - Making your way, behind Girud, into the treasure stores, you too are suddenly pained slightly by the same thoughts.
These used to belong to people...
But if they were alive, you're certain they would want you to use their items to defeat the master. A quick, precursory glance reveals a fine cloak, gilded with masterwork emroidery. It is in the pattern of scales that glitter a green and gold, even in the darkness of the cavern. The clasps appear to be platinum and the cloak nothing less than masterwork.
It feels light for its...
You are interrupted by the sound of the door shutting behind you. Spinning on your heels and bringing your shovel up like a weapon, you exhale audibly as you see Mordrock cowering near the door.
"No hit Mordrock!"
You lower your shovel, but keep it up...just in case. The pathetic goblin reaches up, produces a pink tongue from his mouth and licks his finger to smooth his hair in one stroke.
Will this ever end?
"Mordrock see the way you think about him...Mordrock not forget that..."
Nope.
"Mordrock want to let you know he not forget you either, except for other girl, but she gone now. It just you and Mordrock..."
You bring your shovel back up as a weapon, prepared to give this goblin a lesson in chastity. Just as you prepare to give Mordrock a solid conking over the head, you hear shouting coming from outside.
"We found it! We found it!"
Krysta, Girud and Galdren - You all hear the shouts coming from a pit nearby, [7c] and it's the shouts of the former prisoners.
Making your way to the cave, you seen Irinys standing, holding a shovel in his hand and stradling a small hole he made in the dirt. There, beneath Irinys, you can see a clear, shiny surface...a piece of the crystal.
Irinys bends down and blows away a bit of dirt, moving gently and delicately, even for an elf. He removes a glove and reaches out with a lithe hand to the smooth surface and places a hand on the crystal shard.
The hole fills with a green light, much like sea foam or soft moss in the forest, and soon the light spills outward in waves. This light is much different than the pearlescent color you witnessed in Ravenshead, but the crystal distinctly looks like a shard of the other.
Irinys seems possessed, gently brushing away the dirt, his grin lit by the hauting glow. He looks up, and motions for you all to work on freeing the gem from its surroundings.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yuri, Romar and Sehanine -
Sehanine sneaks forward, listening intently to the conversation.
{MS, Hide and Listen Checks, Sehanine.}
You don't hear any break in the conversation ahead, so you feel confident to move close enough to hear. It appears that two orcs are having a hushed, well near hushed discussion in their native tongue.
"You think we should go now?"
"Umm...maybe not yet. That one have big hammer..."
"Come on...they are short, we can take them."
"Ummm...no, let's wait here until they fall alseep."
"There five of us, only three of them...come on..."
"Hmmm...maybe..."
The conversation is less than intelligent, but it appears as though you've managed to sneak behind a group of orcs tyring to sneak up on someone else.
Interesting....
Yuri - Flitting through the trees, you find a nice dark overhang to perch from and take in the scene.
Romar and Sehanine are a few feet behind a group of orcs, five in number that lie in wait for a group of dwarves in a clearing. The orcs are armed and dressed in the wicked armor of 'The Master', but the dwarves are even more gilded in full plate and war hammers.
You wonder if you should do something or watch the ensuing battle..maybe pick off a wounded or two...then again, Romar had nearly separated himself from Sehanine, maybe now would be a time to strike.
The voice returns...
