Hero, Girud and Galdren - The three warriors take to the top of the walls, remaining vigilant in their survey of the battelfield.
*Schink*
The blade runs across the whetstone, leaving behind a fine trail of silver, like the blood drawn from enemies.
*Schink*
It runs across again, driven by hands that have seen this war progress, but fear they have not seen the worst.
*Schink*
The worst, they fear, is the fog at their gates. The torch-words have extinguished and the mist hangs near the walls, clinging to it like a hand from the grave clings to its own tombstone...desperately trying to pull it down defiantly.
*Schink*
Battle will come, of that they are sure...and their is little they can do besides prepare.
The blades will be sharp...
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Krysta - Moving towards the Elves, you lean an ear in trying to hear what they speak. [Listen Check] You catch a few words, not enough to make a full sentence, but enough to confuse.
"....can...catch it?..."
"...have....spell..."
"Give....time..."
The Elves notice your...proximity and cease speaking. The mages head off in a different direction, followed by a few of the Elite, while the remainder of them head off in another direction.
None of them casting you a second glance...
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Angelus and Garor - With Delomme's brush off, you are both left alone with little to do besides meditate. Focus your powers and hope they are enough to protect the innocent, your companions...nay, your very soul...
The 'Fortress-Breaker', the behemoth cannon looming over all of Cannon's Foot, continues to move slowly, a degree here, and inch there. You can see dozens of people scouring over the bottom of the device - pulling levers and shouting numbers into the air that probably mean something to those that understand them.
Meditation...focus...the battle is coming....
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Caelith - The Faceless Knight leads you deep into the castle Ravenshead and you pause, only for a moment, as you realize this is the first time you have been inside the massive castle. Though you have been ambassadors, carrying Sturmguards will far and wide, you have yet to actually grace its halls.
They are far from your typical castle halls however, lined with refugees and those trying to assist them. It appears that Sturmguard is a man of his word, offering his halls and all that his station has to offer to ease the suffering of his people. Soldiers, Humans, Elves, Dwarves...Gnomes...all line, walk or lay about his halls, occupying every alcove and nearly every foot of tile. Most are not wounded, probably due to the powers of the strange crystal, but all are tired and weary.
At one time, you even think you pass Maura as she carries some water to soldiers...
Most of the soliders and refugees see 'The Faceless Knight' as he walks beside you. They nod or smile, casting him thankful glances. You also hear a few words echoing as you both walk along.
"Look! It's The Facelss Knight!"
"Who is that with him? A squire?"
"Thank Celestia for The Faceless Knight!"
The armored man behind you does his best to pay deserving attention, but he continues to lead you on, taking you down winding marble hallways and stone corridors. Eventually the refugees disappear and you find yourself before massive steel door guarded by four human soliders in full plate. They stand aside, allowing access.
The Faceless Knight pulls on a massive bar and slides the door open, enough for you both to slip past, into the treasury beyond.
Inside, you are shocked to find a massive room...at least half empty. To your right, empty chests line the walls, tossed about and haphazardly stacked. They appear to have once held coin and gems, but all have been spent.
To your left, the wall and floor are littered with a scant collection of weapons, armor and strange objects...you become vaguely aware of The Faceless Knight speaking again, his voice saddened.
"You are one of few to see this sight Master Caelith, 'The Empty Treasury'...as we call it among ourselves..."
"Strumguard, Celestia bless him, spent every last coin gem and valuable for his people. Buying what he could from other kingdoms. Food, supplies and the remainder going for spell components and potions for his people."
You begin to rummage through the pile, finding objects for you and your companions that await your return to Cannon's Foot.
"Thankfully the crystal shard has stemmed the need for spending, but when this war is over, I fear that Ravenshead will not recover financially."
"However, I believe it is money well spent if it ensures our survival."
[You have a PM regarding your 'shopping spree'.]
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Romar and Yuri - Yuri slams both fists into the Illithid. [Attack Roll = 11] The Mind Flayer easily sidesteps the attack.
The Illithid brings both it's claws up. [Attack Rolls = Nat 1, 11] Luckily, it is unable to strike the lithe vampire.
Romar moves past the Mind Flayer, flanking it. [AoO = 9] The Illithis maintains a useless attacking streak, uselessly flailing out with an arm. Romar, now flanking, brings his sword up. [Attack Roll = Nat 1, Dex Check Success] Nearly losing his grip on the blade, Romar manages to hang onto it and remain in battle.
{Initiative: Yuri, The Illithid, Romar}
