{With the 10 party splits, I got lost...sorry. } __________________________________________________________________________________________ Callian and Newt - Moving through the woods, you both feel relatively sure that nothing is here besides the trees and animals... Stil...even those seem to be watching you... You know this is a forest protected by a powerful coven of druids and should be free of 'The Masters' touch, but you still feel as though you should not be here. You cross the distance slowly, coming to a stop just outside an unusually dense collection of trees. As the breeze lifts the few leaves aside, you can see more clearly into the glittering glade. A building rests there...at least it LOOKS like a building. It is ghostly, ethereal, letting the light pass through it like a foggy window or frosted glass. In the center of this building is a blinding light, the glittering seen from miles away. You cannot discern the buildings true purpose or shape, but it appears to be a temple dedicated to one being...perhaps a burial chamber of some kind? Just as you prepare to move in a bit further, the tree branch pushing on you pushes back and a face appears in the bark next to you. In a voice no less than frightening, it speaks. "Why have you come here?"------------------------------------------------------------------------ Caelith - As you depart Ravenshead, you notice you hold your breath slightly...convincing yourself that it will rid you of the 'dirt' taste when you arrive at your destination. Then again, it could be because you fear that you will not see this place again... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Angelus, Garor, Hero, Caelith, Krysta, Girud and Galdren - The Fortress-Breaker looms ever closer to aligning, moving a few degrees here, a few inches there. Figures scour over its surface like ants on a hill. Caelith returns, laden with a bag direct from the treasury of Ravenshead and doles out its contents accordingly. Delomme comes jogging down from the cannon base, nearly out of breath. "Well...it wasn't easy, but we think we'll have it soon. Another twenty minutes or less, nearly a half an hour ahead of schedule."
"We think, with firing this early, that it will land within a mile of 'The Glade'....would that be acceptable?"Looking around, the Elves are nearby, although the mages and a few of the elite warriors appear to be missing. [Caelith, you may also want to impart the letter that Stumrguard gave you.] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Romar and Yuri - Yuri advances, bringing his fists down. [Attack Roll = 11] Still cursing, he misses the Illithid entirely. The Mind Flayer acts next, tearing at flesh with claws. [Attack Rolls Vs. Yuri = 23/23] Both clawed fists land, pulling at flesh. [Damage Rolls = 9, 16 (Rend)] The blows are devastating, leaving little behind. The Mind Flayer seems to hold fast, readying to wrap its dripping tentacles around the vampire's head...then it recoils in disgust... It appears to prefer 'fresh' meat, and it spins on Romar. Romar attacks, sensing a fierce battle. [Attack Rolls = 27/16] One attack lands solidly in the creatures chest. [Damage Roll = 11] The Mind Flayer reels back, squealing...(Down 23) {Initiative: Yuri, The Illithid, Romar} __________________________________________________________________________________________

Hero answers Delomme, "Yes, that would be good."
To Krysta, "I enjoyed the company of your noble hound, though I knew not his name. Do not fear that I think you traitors to Sturmguard - I do not. It is just that I thought you dead and we have all seen dead allies come back in the service of the Master."
Hero gets her new gear. :-)

Caelith distributes the items as necessary, except those for Newt and Callian, which he holds until seeing them next. He nods at Delomme's words, very thankful that things are ready ahead of schedule. "Excellent news - Within a mile will be fine. Don't fire until we give the order. I want to make sure all is ready with the others." He then pulls Garor and Hero aside, displaying Romar's letter.
"Sturmguard handed me this before I left. It is about our other comrades from Boon's Freehold - Romar, Sehanine, and Yuri. It appears they have had quite the abundance of trouble, and are currently in the Dwarven kingdom, which apparently holds another crystal. Sturmguard advised we check this out, and see about findign our wayward friends - Assuming, ofcourse, all goes well with these two crystals." At which point he notices the select elves missing. He frowns. He knows what magic-users do when they leave in secrecy: They talk about magic.
He shakes his head and resolves to attend to that in a moment. "Garor - I specifically want to draw your attention to this letter, as it seems the dwarves were looking for you. From what the letter says, it looks like the king was in danger and you were in line... as... the heir." He gives Garor an odd look. "I did not realize you were royalty, Skullsplitter. But it is perhaps more reason for us to investigate the mountain upon reaching home. Unless you would like to go immediately, which I'm sure we all would understand."
After staying to hear their responses, I will assume Caelith wanders off a bit, and meets up with Krysta - Either through her initiative or Modrock finding him. He approaches her, and hears her words. "Indeed?" He frowns. "They are doubtless powerful magi, if they could teleport all of you - and multiple times no less. I do not like this secrecy, but I worry about intruding on your dominion, Krysta. I fear your elven friends would not react kindly to my approach."
"But I will take their actions as a warning. Thank you. All I ask is that you ensure they are in plain sight when this crystal is launched." He sighs. "And I hope when next we meet it is on better terms."
After this, Caelith moves to Angelus. "My fellow mage, we may have some trouble with our elven counterparts." A funny sentence, Caelith being himself elven. "Would you like to assist me with some... cautionary measures?" If yes, I'll PM with details.

Girud remains vigilant against the slaughterfog, unawares that anything is amiss from within.
{OOC: Although he isn't sharpening his blade, it's already keen enough for his liking.}

To Garor:
"Forgive me your highness, I have been addressing you by the incorrect title."
Hero is worred now - elven mages up to no good as well as former companions.

His face visably sobered since you've met him he takes a moment to compose himself before speaking.
This nobility that you speak of is not something I proclaim or am proud of. My people sealed them selves up and abandoned the rest of the world as a coward would.
When King Grandil sealed the great doors to hide from the problems of the master I spoke out against him and my percived cowardice of him. It was only through the influence of my father, a high priest and my brother a great hero of our people that I was cast out rather than executed.
Grandil had no heirs so the line of succesion was supposed to pass down through the high priests. ....if they were looking for me that must mean their all dead along with my father and older brother......
Something evil must be afoot within my homelands walls.... funny old Grandil sealed himself up to avoid trouble and instead it snuck in a bit him on the ass.
I must go to seek out the truth.....
Turning to his 3 remaining compainions (Angelus, Hero, Caelith)
I'll only go if you give you consent, I do not wish to abandon the ship but the thought of my dead Father and Brother troubles me greatly.
What say you? Will you give me your leave?

Back to the conversation with Hero, Garor, etc..."I have already given you mine, and I understand. We have very limited knowledge of what is going on in there, after all. I'm very sorry about what may have happened to your father and brother - I hope they are alright. May you find Romar and the others, as well, and discover what is afoot there." (( "Might I suggest the planning forge as your first stop?" Damn ooc knowledge. ))

Callian - You can hear it just fine. You and Newt approached with infinite patience and caution. You're both on the edge of the clearing, being addressed by the tree. __________________________________________________________________________________________

MW Longsword (+10/+5, 1d8+3, 19-20/x2, S) (Flanking already included), AC20
As long as the illithid was leaning over the vampire and Romar could attack him from the rear, he wasn't frightened by the terrible monster that they had disturbed, but now he is confronted with the lashing tentacles and the brain-hungry looks of the mind flayer he recoils a little. He quickly shrugs of the intimidation and gathers his courage, andhe keeps defending himself fiercely.
"Your schemes are over; the dwarves are upon you! You will not live this day to its end! Even if you manage to defeat us, it will be your last meal!"

Wow!! A talking tree now this adventure gets better with every new place we go does it not Callian. We are here to catch a crystal. Umm… The story is long and most people get annoyed when I start telling long stories and I am not use to talking to trees, and I am now suppose-to be a representative for King Stremy so maybe Callian should tell you what we are up to he has a lot more finesse when dealing with others and they don’t get as upset with him. Can I climb you? I’ve never climbed a talking tree before. Sorry. Newt tries really hard to be quiet.

Angelus took the magical items and nods to Caelith quietly. "Thank you these items will prove most useful and I will gladly help you." He smirked quietly as he felt the power of the headband take effect. "Mmm I'm gonna need a little extra time to prepare one more spell."

Reeling in pain, Yuri's eyes blaze with anger. Then, he changes from the natural appearance to a gaseous form. He laughs sinisterly.

Momentarily smiling at the halfling, Callian regains his calm and speaks to the tree.
"We are here to help stop the unnatural blight of The Master. You know of whom I speak: he who despoils the land those who live in it, the plague from the northwest."
Callian hesitates. Can the tree be told everything? But then, that is the exact question the Master wishes him to ask himself. Distrust. Betrayal. All the tools of the Enemy.
"A crystal shard will fall from the sky in this area in about half an hour's time. We also have reason to believe there is another such shard already in this area. We believe that these shards may help in the war against the Master."
On impulse, realizing that he is an ambassador for King Sturmgard, Callian bows low.
"On behalf of Ravenshead and its allies, I offer an alliance of mutual support against the Master."

Caelith clears his throat. "But let me remind you, Hero, of your prisoner - Unless you are planning to entrust his return to Callian. Still, I would appreciate your presence in getting both these crystals back to Ravenshead. I fear losing you both would make things... rather trying."
He shrugs, thinking of a compromise. "Perhaps if you attempt to return to the group as soon as you are able?"

Perhaps I can return as soon as I am able... I could meet you in the glade? or possibly back at ravenshead?
While I appriciate the offer Hero, I think this is aomething that I should do on my own, In case it goes badly I don't want my past action to reclect negativly upon you.
Either way, I'll at least wait until this crystal is fired off
