Krysta, Caelith, Hero, Garor, Newt, Girud, Galdren and Callian - [Krysta - Ungurth recommends that everyone head below decks.] As soon as the stone hatch is pulled aside and the stench from below wafts upwards...it becomes immiediately clear that the DemonWing is no ordinary vessel. As though that had to be reaffirmed... The room you stand in is barren, fitting for a grand cabin if it held any furniture, however, it is devoid of anything save for stone walls and open windows. You immediately notice that this space is larger and orientated different from the ship above, seemingly extended beyond the stone walls of the ship itself. The windows, though open, are sealed by an invisible barrier. A single wooden door leads deeper below decks and is slightly ajar...beyond it, unearthly noises echo... Mordrock wrinkles his nose a bit at the stench. "This place smell like Goblin crap-pit..."[For those that missed it, the DemonWing maps and pics are up. Check them out here. You're at area 1, the ladder from above decks.] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yuri and Romar - [You two make the worst adventuring party ever... Just kidding, it's great to see the struggle and such articulated posts. Very well done!] Veya watches the interchange of words with a heavy sigh. She visibly slumps a bit, her form weighed with the scene. "I knew this would happen..." She stiffens and looks to Yuri. "Although fate has blessed me with a ray of light Yuri, I do not wish to divert that ray or the others it traveled with. Romar and you had a mission before we crossed paths, and that path should still be walked with unwavering strength."She calmly reaches for the letter, the letter of so much debate, and takes it in her palm. "I've heard of Sturmguard. He is rumored to be a good king, a great king...and not one so easily swayed by words. He makes his own judgements."She suddenly and dramatically tears the letter in twain, and then in twain again. She lets the pieces fall to the ground like leaves scattered in an autumn breeze. Before your mouths drop to the ground, she holds up a hand, palm outward to calm you both. "Before you lose your tempers, know this. I am third party to all I have seen today. I have no ties to any previous relationship with those on the boat. I will tell Sturmguard of all I have seen and he can make his own judgement. I will label no one, simply tell him precisely what I saw from the point of an observer."
"If he is half the king I've heard of, he will understand and reserve judgement for later."Veya takes a step towards Vraak and takes a limp hold of his reigns. "As for your travels, I will not give you a choice to hold me here and divide you two like an axeman splits firewood. I take my leave now, as discussed, to fly to Ravenshead and offer myself and my warriors as protection for the city."Veya lowers her head apologetically. "Yuri and Romar were friends before Veya of New RocRoost...and they will be friends after she is gone."Without much else, she leaps atop her giant Roc and whistles loudly. With the force of a hurricane, the other birds leap into the air and gain altitude quickly, disappaearing at dizzying heights. Veya remains on the ground, eyes still diverted from either of you. She seems on the verge of saying something - proclaiming her devotion to Romar or words of encouragement for the vampire that has taken a small piece of her heart. She settles for a much more stoic goodbye. "I will wait for your return at Ravenshead..."That said, she leaps into the air and disappears with the others, never casting a second glance back. The sun is coming in a few hours, perhaps a bit of rest is needed to overcome the mental fatigue you're feeling from your travels so far... __________________________________________________________________________________________

Unsheathing his sword with uncertainty, Girud pushes the next door open and listens for the source of the noise. There is something very strange about all of this. Part of him has to wonder whether or not this demonic ship really has their best interests in mind.
Perhaps they were too trusting of this Mage. Our desperation may have well brought us to Hell with no hopes of survival.... Only time and perserverance would tell.

((Jesus H. Christ! I'm absent for a few days, and everything goes to hell! In multiple ways!
I'm so sorry I missed it. I could've added so much drama. Le sigh.))
Caelith is the last to go below deck. He has been silent since Yuri appeared, and has been silent long afterwards. Now he stands at the doorway to the deck, his arms folded over his chest, staring at each and every one of them like they were children. He takes his time about speaking, each word carefully chosen and painstakingly annunciated. "I am as unhappy with our situation as all of you. But as we are surrounded by the damned, I would greatly prefer that none of you make a hell of this boat. While we are here, I will not tolerate any more arguments. Withhold your opinions about what happened. Stop quarrelling, and stop accusing. You are all right, and you are all wrong. Accept that concessions must be made, but feelings and beliefs will be dealt with in more detail later. When we are not in Hell."
He pauses, to let this sink in. He takes the time to look at each of them individually, then speaks again. "Before we step foot off of this ship, amends will be made. By all who were arguing. We are a team. We are a unit. We are companions, and you all signed an unspoken pact to cooperate when you stepped on board this ship. It was a willing act, and you will all therefore willingly make this right. At least until we have completed our task. Therefore, I am asking you all to talk amongst yourselves, right now, until you have come to terms with one another and are willing to cooperate without question. Otherwise, I will take no step off of this boat, and I will make no attempt to save any soul currently on board. I am not saying this as a companion, I am not saying this as a friend - I am saying this as a mage. Bear in mind that we are fighting a mage, and that we were put on this ship by a mage. I will claim some small expertise on the minds in question, arrogant though it may be."
"I beg of you all to please listen to me while we are here, in Hell. I entreat you all to trust me, and to do what I ask in as near as your morals and abilities allow you to. When we survive it, when we retrieve the shard, when we have put Karn's soul to rest and stand within Ravenshead - Then let us fight and debate to our heart's content. But for now, for this moment... Follow my lead, and shelve your concerns."

(Glad to have you back, Udjat!)
Callian was absent during Caelith's speech, arguing with Krysta belowdecks. After some time looking uncomfortably at the wall, he returns back to Krysta.
"Krysta, I must apologize."
"I had no right to speak to you as harshly as I did. I misused my divine authority. Yuri aside, you are my companion.
Can you forgive me?"

Arg, that letter took me some time to write! LOL
As Veya takes the letter and begins to rip it to peaces, Romar stands powerless for some reason. Veya's words just seem to be able to persuade him much easier then Yuri, why he doesn't know. He just looks as it is done, and listens as Veya speaks her wise words, and all the while he can't think of something to say. Then Veya climbs her winged mount and it is sure that Veya will take her leave of them soon and the farewell that comes might mean the last time they meet each other. And still, he finds himself without words, as if some large obstacle in his throath blocks any sounds he wants to make. He stares as Veya leaves and says her last words of goodbye, and a tear grows in his eye, nearly invisible. "Be careful! I will come for you."He manages to say these last few lines, just in time for Veya to hear them. He is still not really aware of what is happening, as he stares to the skies to see Veya and the others growing smaller and smaller. She was probably right about the letter, and about king Sturmguard. He completely trusts Veya to bring the message to the king, better even then he himself would have through his letter. But still, it feels weird. All of this. He is alone, and not totally sure of how to interpret the last words, and especially that warning, of Yuri, the only one he has left now. He feels alone. But Romar wouldn't be Romar if he wouldn't ignore that and replace those feelings with feelings that matter at the moment. With a loud voice, he speaks to Yuri as he turns away from the vision of the birds, now little dots in the sky. "The day will come soon, and we have yet to gather some food and make a warm campfire. My stomach is empty and we don't know how long it'll take to find the city in these mountains. Will you gather us some good wood to make a fire, then I will try and find some food, and something to suit you. Do be sure to enter the cave before the sun shows up."He takes to hunting if Yuri agrees, and if he finds anything (an animal because it will also provide fresh blood) he will return to the cave, where he will outwait the day with rest. Survival +11

Yuri breathes a mental sigh of relief with the letter torn and Veya's intent spoken.
Well spoken Veya, like a true leader. Her father lives with her indeed.
His attention turns to Romar, seeing the sadness in his eyes.
He makes a mental promise, remembering Kiera and all that has happened.
I will see to it that you do see her again Romar....
Listening intently to Romar's instructions, he agrees.
Of course. The last place I wish to be is where the sun shines. I will find some suitable firewood and return shortly.
With this spoken, he searches for firewood and has Sindri stand guard at the cave to await for his return.
[glow=green,1,000]Guard duty... I hate guard duty...[/glow]
Oh quit complaining, it's only for ten minutes.
(OOC: No idea if a Survival check is needed for finding wood, but I'll give ya my bonus for that. +4)

"Krysta, I must apologize.""I had no right to speak to you as harshly as I did. I misused my divine authority. Yuri aside, you are my companion. Can you forgive me?" Krysta turns to Callian, with no light in her eyes anymore. "Forgiveness? Kind of ironic, would you not think so? A Paladin, asking for forgiveness, while in Hell? No Callian, I will not forgive you. For there is nothing to forgive. Your actions, although misguided by my views, were yours to make. As Caelith has stated, this is a group effort. This is not about one person's views or beliefs. I have not seen you in any other way, than a companion. Although you have questioned my loyalties, my beliefs, and my actions, I have only questioned your actions as they affected everyone else around you. I have sworn my loyalties to King Sturmguard, and by his orders, we have come to aid you and Caelith in this journey. You see Callian, I am a soldier, as well as a leader. I have given orders, and I have followed them just as easily. You have my sword in this cause, and also a companion. As for trusting me, that is your own demon to deal with, as you have spoken so vocally of your mistrust. I am not here to gain favor of your trust, or to make friends. I am here to aid in this war, to help others, and give my life to the cause. If friends are made along the way, then that journey will be less of a burden. I hope to one day be able to call each of you all friends, as well as companions." With that, she turns to Caelith. "You are a strong leader, Caelith. You have helped the others get thus far, and it is honorable that you would offer your leadership at this time. But I must point one thing out, that must be addressed. Are your orders the final decree? Where is the balance in that? I must say, that although I will follow you, should the others agree, if a decision you make seems to be wrong, will you allow another to speak up? Not to go against your wishes or beliefs, but simply to point out that which may have escaped your knowledge. As for leading this group in diplomatic matters, and guidance through this Hell, I would agree to that. As for battle, do you not think that a warrior more adept would best be suited for that task? Should we come to do battle in this place, your knowledge of their tendencies would be welcome, but tactics, not to be boastful, are a thing that I have trained my whole life for. I would welcome the chance to use that knowledge, if allowed." Krysta then spies Girud moving towards the door, and also draws her weapon. "This place is surely one that we would do well to explore. After all, it is a vessel that we should get well aquainted with before anything else happens." She then moves to aid Girud, Listen +1, Search +2 Mordrock will also do the same, Listen +6, Spot +6, Search +1

Caelith carefully considers what Krysta says, and at length nods in understanding and replies. "I am no more infallible than the rest of you. If I am wrong, and it can be agreed I am wrong, I would want it to be pointed out. I would ask none of you to follow me blindly. As for the other matter of leadership during combat, you also have a valid point. Ofcourse, I must bear in mind that, sadly, you were not present at Boon's Freehold or Cannon's Foot when many of us offered tactical solutions, including myself - these being in my opinion directly responsible for the survival of so many, all things considered. But you are right - you are a bred tactician, in as much as I am a bred wizard. We all have our specialties, and this is undoubtedly yours. I would not venture to tell you how to fight. I am, if anything, one who offers strategy. Tactics are less my strong suit." He bows his head respectfully to her. "And in the same way, I would expect guidance in spiritual and religious matters from the paladins, as well as their notorious ability to separate good from evil, truth from deceit. We all have our strengths, do we not? Let us play to those."

Hero nods silently to Caelith as if to agree with his offer to lead for the moment. She ignores Krysta's rebuke of Callian and her continuing insistence on insulting paladinhood.

Then it is settled. Lets quit all this babbleing and get ready for whatevers behind that door, I haven't battled anything worthy latley so my arms are getting wimpy, you know, sort of like an elves
Garor continues his idoit grin and winks at Caelith.
