3 - 057: The Third Piece

Krysta, Caelith, Hero, Garor, Newt, Girud, Galdren and Callian - Moving into the next room, you can hear your heart pounding in your ears; your mind racing with the perceived threats you imagine are there.

However, you find little of threat in the next room. There are enough bunks in here for twenty man-sized creatures or more, all empty and orderly. There are no chest at the foot of the bed. No bedrolls or other indication that this place has ever been used.

Directly across from you, there is another wooden door, this time closed tightly.

Yuri and Romar - [Survival Check, Romar] Yuri gathers a bit of fire wood quickly, before the dawn breaks through the crevasses of the hills around you. About this time, Romar finds a large buck and places an arrow firmly through the creatures heart.

It is drug back to the cave and both meal and blood are had, the smoke from a small fire gently rolling out of the cave mouth like a dragon's nostril.

The day passes uneventfully, allowing a full period of rest for the night ahead. [If you'd like to do anything special, don't hesitate to let me know.] When the sun finally sets behind the expanse of mountains, the darkness in this area comes as a great relief to Yuri - allowing him to enter into the world outside the cave...

You pause, knowing little beyond a rumor that 'The Hidden City' lies deeper in the mountains you find yourself at the base of. Doubt begins to cloud your mind.

Can you find it?

Hmm another door... It is closed pretty tightly

"It is our ship, now," Caelith says simply, shrugging. "I think it would be wise that we know our own property, no?"

He does not draw a weapon, but he remains alert. He will withdraw his everburning torch if illumination becomes necessary, but will otherwise largely let the others lead the exploration.

"Yes...it would not do to have a mutiny from crew we've yet to meet..."

Callian walks up and opens the door.

Follow the others that have taken charge of the reconoissnace mission he started. It is better to know what lies within then to know nothing of our surrounds.

Galdren follows the others to the second door, curiousity taking hold as he observes the closed door.

(OOC: Well, since you asked if we'd like to do something special, I'd like to have Yuri build a coffin for himself. He's travelled all this way and not had a suitable resting spot. And I know how to transport it: Portable Hole )

Since we have some free time on our hands....

Taking a sip from the ale bottles of deer blood, Yuri goes and gathers the materials used to fasion the simplest coffin designed and begins its construction.

My final resting place. Sad that I am my own undertaker.

Romar had a rough rest, and he didn't catch much sleep. It is a long wait for the night to come again, but when it finally does, he is reluctant to see the mountains stretching before him, making a search through it for a city seem like finding a needle in a haystack. As he stares at the mountains, he speaks:

"Yuri, will you go with me on my search, or shall you stay here? I know it is dangerous for one such as you to search for a place such as the Hidden City, but remember that you are not easily recognizable as a vampire: even Marg, a high cleric from the dwarven capitol couldn't discern you as one. Together we are much stronger, but I leave the choice to you, as it is your life."

Regardless of wether Yuri comes along or not, Romar will begin his journey into the mountains as soon as he can after mounting his loyal steed Húna. He knows that it will be a hard task finding the city, if it even exists at all, but his victory over Hirsuthe will not come without taking on such tasks.

He will head north, keeping an eye out for any signs of life. If Yuri accompanies him, then he will look for a place to hide a while before the day begins to dawn.

{OOC: Unless Im mistaken, Yuri could indeed travel by day at the side of Romar were the need great enough. You just supplied your own answer. Yuri goes into the portable hole. There is no reason why it wouldn't work, he is afterall dead, he can't suffocate. He goes in, and then romar closes the hole, and can travel abroad in the daylight if he so chooses.

Now that won't help if Romar finds a fight during the day, but atleast they can travel. It takes the stress off finding caves and the like for serious daytime resting. Just a thought. ;D}
